Let me start by saying that I don't actually sound like this. I have always thought that Sarah Brightman sings like she's on helium (actually, as I've discovered, only when singing ALW music). This is my impression of her.

I think everyone's voice sounds slightly different when they're on mike though...

Actually, the voice you hear in your head and the one others hear are in fact different. Usually, what you hear on the mike is what the people around you hear.

In addition, people tend to speak differently when they are being recorded, especially if they are uncomfortable with the process.
