A trail of hoof prints tainted the shores by the ocean. If one were to inspect the prints, one could tell that the beast that had created the tracks had been running very fast indeed, as if it were racing for its life. But that wasn't the case.

The bright silver-white stallion raced along the side of the ocean, his hair whipping out wildly to and fro. A grin seemed to cover the entirety of his face; he was truly enjoying the exhiliration of the challenge of the wind that fought against his speed. As he galloped, flecks of sand were pushed apart by the magnificent hooves that blessed the sand by its mere touch. A neigh immediately rang out over the harsh, deafening oceanside waves. Shadowfax was in pure bliss.

He didn't know why he was here. He didn't know why he was running. It had just seemed like the right thing to do. He enjoyed being free, he enjoyed running wildly. Before, he had been wandering near the encampment of the two peculiar indians he had found himself with, and somehow travelled to a beachy shore. From then on, he had travelled along the side of the ocean, intrigued at what he may find at the place where the ocean comes to an end... if it ever came to an end, that is. He was seeking his end of the rainbow. Only a few times in his life had he encountered the ocean. This was one of those few experiences that he had pined for. The ocean was calming and enjoyable; almost as enjoyable as the moon. Again, he neighed out loud for anyone to hear without restraint, and perhaps many heard it, as the range of his clear voice seemed limitless.

ignore that!

Soft, gentle waves splashed beneath the rocky base of the cliff. The sun dipped low into the horizon far off in the distance... If it had shifted a few more inches downwards, the streaming, tranquil waves would have engulfed it in its mouth wholly, its only remnant being the faint reflective glow painted on the clouds that gave way to its presence. The cliff was a steep one, and the view of the diminishing sun was glorious. The sun danced atop the water, and the light emitted from the water splashed onto him. It played with his coat, letting his light silvery form look even brighter in the light--almost blinding. But all of that would soon come to an end, as the sun was, well, almost finished for the day.

Shadowfax never really enjoyed the sun that much, anyways--at least not as much as he pleasured the moon and night's company. As the new day turned over, feelings of renewal and forgiveness stirred within the stallion. He looked forward to the many days ahead of him in the place he was at now. Before, he had not seen many like himself about, but recently... He met two. As intrigueing as they were, and as much as he welcomed company and found comfort in making new acquaintances or perhaps even friends, he still liked spending time by himself. He was fine, standing proud alone, hovering over the last rays of the sun like a conqueror.

Nothing was to disturb him today...

The stallion's form shivered in the horizon. He sensed another coming near. He tensed, but then relaxed. Another one of his kind? It was strange; ever since that one meeting with the one called Aruna, he had been seeing others like him as well. He took one last look at the sun before turning his shimmering figure around, looking towards the area behind him.

Shadowfax seemed startled at first, his inside mechanisms surprised as well--had he seen a ghost? He squinted, allowing for his eyes to float towards the distance. It looked... white. Pale. But it wasn't a ghost. He sighed a breath of relief. "Alas, Shadowfax," he said to himself in mock shame, "You're getting a little bit too paranoid to be scaring yourself like that... Hmph, a ghost..." He chuckled, taking a few jovial strides towards the light figure from afar.

"Oi!" he called out softly, hoping the other would hear him. He stopped, waiting for the figure to come closer. It did seem like it had been coming for the cliffs--or would it go elsewhere because of him? He put on a friendly grin, giving the emerging apparition a second look. It was... She looked like a mare? He blinked several times, wondering if it was just the last rays of the sun dangling in his eyes that made him believe so. He looked again. Apparently not.
