Mini RP - Kanto Badge Run (Reno)

While the fresh water would clear away the salt and prevent future burning, the damage was already done, so the attack wasn't a complete waste. "Ice Shard!" The Swimmer ordered, the Seel would respond by releasing from its mouth a barrage of incredibly fast shards of ice, that launched themselves at the Snivy dangling above.

Snips began to bat at the spray of icicles, managing to block a fair number. But many more passed by and grazed or hit Snips. Growling, he swung himself along before leaping to another platform. Snips sent the two vines chasing after the Seel, both cracking in preparation for the chunk they would aim to rip out of it's hide.

Slap, bam! The Seel was hit by the Vine Whip attack, getting hurled out of the pool in the process as it landed by its trainer, knocked out. "Harsh, well that's part of Pokemon battles." The swimmer said as he recalled his Pokemon. "Well time for my last Pokemon, time to go for a swim, Seadra!" The swimmer called out as he tossed another ball into the pool, it popping open and releasing the fierce sea horse Pokemon. "Twister!" He commanded. The Seadra would respond by letting out an eerie cry, causing a twister of dragonic energy to explode into existence in front of it, twisting around, sucking up some of the pool's water, and threatening to consume not only Snips but the platform it was on.

Snips watched the new Pokemon show up and summon it's swirling storm, which may have caused him to slightly panic. "Stand on the end furthest from the Twister, jump on the edge an' then Tackle the platform." Listening to his master, he listened well enough to retreat to the opposite end away from the Twister. Jumping once, the platform kicked itself near-vertical due to the current from tge Twister catching the slightly submerged edge. Tackling into the platform, Snips shot away onto the edge of the pool, with the platform slingshotting via momentum from the Tackle and current to prepare to slam into the Seadra.

Up on deck, Snips coiled himself up into a ball to generate a much stronger attack for his next move. Hopefully, the Coil would let him hit a little harder.

"Time fer yer patented fishing technique, Snips." Reno ordered, pointing to the pool in front of the Pokemon. Nodding his head, Snips extended twin vines, which he sent racing through the pool, the clear water letting him see the Seadra. The vines wormed to twin lines, with the Seadra between them. Directing the vines, Snips sent them in for an attempt to brush against the Seadra for a Mega Drain.

This might have been the worse possible thing that Reno could have had his Snivy do, there was no way that the Pokemon was going to make it out of the coming situation unscathed. "Now Brine!" The swimmer ordered, as the Seadra stood still in the water, sucking in as much water from around it as possible, as its belly swelled to an enormous size. The seahorse would then release the water it sucked up from its mouth, now highly dense salt water, flowing out in front, combining with the pool's water slowly, as the density caused the salt water to linger around the Seadra before it became diluted. Now one of two things would happen, Snips would try and pull back, trying to save its self from absorbing too much salt water, or it could continue forward, which it would indeed hit the Seadra and absorb some of its life energy, but also a lot more salt water than it would have if it recalled its vines.

Against general logic and reasoning, Reno went ahead with the attack, nervously pulling out his nightstick and spinning it in his hands. Underwater, the vines passed through the salt water, absorbing it before they latched onto the Seadra and began to drain it's energy. Snips felt a shock of pain from the water and growled. Yet another salt using coward who won't fight fair. With Reno, he had ill timing with one of his hands on the spinning, sending it streaking towards the ceiling and smashing a fire sprinkler open.

Reno smirked internally at this fabricated accident. From the lack of attention he had shown before when he nervously spun the stick to his purposelly mistimed hand, Reno wanted a quick way to dispel the inevitable salt water assault. So now as long as Snips stayed above water, the water from the sprinkler would keep him running well.

The salt water was only the first of Snip's and Reno's troubles, the trainer must have forgotten the physiology of Seadra, their ability is Poison Point, and Snips just made physical contact with the Seadra, absorbing a healthy dose of not only salt water, but poison too. "Let's wrap this up, Seadra, another Twister!" The swimmer shouted, the Pokemon still hearing it from underwater. The Seadra would summon forth a twister into the middle of the pool, causing a purple tinted whirlpool to form, pulling the platforms into it as they began to journey down to the center of the whirlpool, where Seadra was waiting on the outside, ready to strike its defenseless target should it get trapped. Alternatively it would create enough of a distraction for Snips to start to feel the pain of the poison, it would seem Reno didn't notice it yet so this was an advantage for the swimmer, one he would exploit.

Reno watched, seeing yet again the Drain attack was being used as a poison conduit. He could the swimmer thinking him oblivious bit after the first time, Reno quickly identified the signs of the poison's existence. But his current plan was counting on a little more damage to push Snips over the edge. The Twister the Seadra created looked quite deadly, so rather than let it go unopposed, Reno ordered, "Snips, Leaf Storm." The little Pokemon watched the Twister approach before gathering his energy for it, unwittingly causing a small glow around himself. When he reached the peak of this charged power, Snips shot the Leaf Storm forward before the light consumed him.

The pressure of the fight, the repeated stress, and the power charge all added up to the recipe to drive a prideful, battling Pokemon like Snips to evolution. So now, standing on the poolside, rather than a tiny Snivy, was a larger and more powerful Servine.

"Oh cool, it evolved. Still, not even evolution can restore a Pokemon to tip top fighting shape. Time for the big wave! Dragon Pulse!" The swimmer shouted. He was right, Snips took a lot of abuse, and evolving wasn't going to change that, stronger he may be but both Pokemon in this fight were on their last legs, everything was about to come to an end, and quick. The Seadra leaped up into the air upon command, shooting up out of the water and inhaling deep as its belly swelled up. Then, all at once, the Seadra released highly concentrated dragonic chi from its mouth-nose, in the form of a massive streaming shock wave of purple energy, flowing out of its mouth and darting towards Snips.

Staring down the Dragon Pulse, Reno already knew this would be the last exchange. Looking to Snips, he saw the Pokemon already in action, gathering more energy. Just letting the Pokemon go, Snips launched another Leaf Storm, unsure exactly what would happen.

The two moves clashed in an epic display of power. The Dragon Pulse and Leaf Storm would mix together in what could only be described as being on the inside of a tornado, as a swirling vortex of purple energy and razor sharp leaves surrounded the two Pokemon, chopping up and pummeling the two. As everything calmed down, the Seadra could be seen floating in the water faced down. "Wow...looks like we got sunk." The swimmer said with a laugh as he recalled his Seadra. "Well just one more and then the leader, good luck dude!"

From the sudden eruption of power would be Snips, down on one of his knees from the exertion to continue standing. Realizing he was pretty much done for, Reno returned him to his ball and put it into the satchel bag he had taken to wearing recently. "Alrighty. 'Ope ya find a regular swimsuit." Reno told the strange swimmer. Walking further into the Gym, he began to debate which of his Pokemon would be next to go up to bat.
