Haelwen | She/Her | High Reaches Candidate

It was still dark outside the barracks when Haelwen was pulled from her slumber by the sound of humming. She grumbled a bit as she shifted, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she tried to figure out what the noise was and where it was coming from so she could put an end to it and go back to sleep. The woman's mind woke her slowly and she groaned as she stretched, stiffness having settled into her muscles while she had been asleep sitting up, slightly slumped over the book still open on her lap. Oh, right, she had been reading about the history of High Reaches before bed since she had been struggling to fall asleep.

It was as she closed the book and set it aside that she refocused on the humming and realized what exactly that noise was, and what it meant. "Shards!" she breathed out as she rolled out of her bed, feet hitting the floor and immediately moving her towards her trunk that held her belongings. Neatly tucked away to one side was her robe and sandals which she hurried to change into before combing her hair and pulling it up into a bun on the back of her head, just a tendril or two hanging down as well as her bangs framing her face. Good enough. No more time to waste! She quickly filed out of the barracks, passing some of the slower walkers, as she yawned and muttered under her breath about the chill in the air. As she made her way across the bowl towards the Sands she looked up noting the clear sky filled with beautiful stars and groaning as a breeze caused her to shiver. She, for one, would be thankful for the warmth of the Sands this morning, it was far too early for her to be feeling this cold.

Upon entering the Sands Haelwen bowed deeply to both golds as well as their mates before searching out a spot between both clutches. She wanted to be easily accessible to babies from each clutch just in case she was meant for one of them. She made it to her spot right as the Slytherin-bronze burst out of his shell and she smiled at the baby, suddenly very much awake and alert although not feeling talkative quite yet. Her thoughts were warm, happy, encouraging, all of the things they were told to think, along with excitement and hope. This was her first hatching and she was thrilled to be able to see everything that would happen. She wanted to see each egg hatching, what kind of dragonet would emerge from them, who the babies would choose as their lifepartners, everything! She startled when the baby bronze hissed angrily and his mother roared alongside him, what had caused that reaction? Haelwen gave a quick glance in the direction that Rhianth was looking and frowned she didn't know what the girl had done exactly but hadn't the rest of the candidates learned anything from the Touching? She shook her head, not her place to get involved and it seemed as though Rhianth had handled it anyway. The woman turned her gaze back the the eggs, seeing quite a few rocking and shaking, there was a yellow eye peering out of one, and, oh! Another just hatched! Is that another bronze? Haelwen stared intently, oh, it seemed upset! It's alright little one, we are all okay, the adults are keeping everything under control. Please don't worry yourself about it and just focus on finding yours and learning about this world you are now apart of. her thoughts were directed at the Once Upon A Dream-bronze and she hoped they would help soothe the freshly hatched dragonet.
Uta
Just the last italicized bit, directed at the Dream bronze, no need for a response but wanted to make sure you saw it just in case.

Haelwen is kind of between both clutches if either of your girls are nearby and wanna chat smile

Hyseren | He/Him | High Reaches Candidate

Hyseren was already up and about by the time the humming began. He had been to the kitchens to grab some breakfast for himself, exercised, washed up, and was nearly finished getting changed into more suitable clothes for the day when he heard it. Change of plans then, he quickly changed clothes again, this time into his white robe and the sandals he had been provided upon arriving at the Weyr. The man wondered if his sister was awake yet and thought to go check on her but decided against it as he didn't want to be late. While it was true that she was the reason he had ended up here in the first place or at least that is how he feels about it, knowing that there is no way a search dragon would have found him if he had been out at sea with his parents and brother instead of in Tillek with Haelwen; he had never been one to pass up an adventure and this was turning out to be his most exciting adventure yet, no way was he going to be late!

He was one of the first to reach the sands, bowing of the parents present before moving to stand to one side, his eyes traveling over each egg, spying a few shaking rather vigorously as well as others who weren't moving at all yet. He watched with barely contained excitement as the first egg hatched, a bronze! He filled his mind with encouragement for all of the dragonets that would arrive on the sands this day and waited to see what the baby would do. As he watched it his eyes found his sister standing closer to the middle of the Sands and he nodded. Of course she would stand there, better view of both sets of babies. The next thing he knew the baby was hissing, it's mother was roaring, and every candidate had jumped at least slightly in surprise. Shaking it off he tried to see what had caused the reaction but suddenly the baby was moving his way, there was an eyeball peering out from another egg, and then a second bronze was on the sands and it seemed a little overwhelmed by everything, judging by the yellow-orange whirling in its eyes.

Hyseren watched with baited breath, he had heard hatchings could get dangerous and he was not about to be caught unaware. Still, he though soothing happy things and hoped his calm energy would radiate out to the hatchlings and help calm them before anyone got harmed.

Hyseren is standing a bit closer to the Disney clutch if you'd like to have Ionan interact with him.

dhawsn - west, 28, 5'10" big hairy round friend

Every year, he felt the dread of becoming a standidate creep ever closer. It wasn’t a demotion, he knew that; it was more the idea that he would disappoint the old caretakers back home that made him almost consider ignoring the summons this time. But Dhawsn was a Good Boy. He rose with the call, drowsy and smeared with drool, and hastened to make himself presentable before the hop Between.

On the sands, the heat simultaneously woke him up and made him want to get cozy. But there were a lot more bodies than usual out today, and he felt a bit self-conscious about taking up the space of at least two. Hence the man lightly crossed his arms and sucked in his stomach, projecting a cheerful aura even as he fretted inwardly. One girl looked to be targeted shortly after the first egg popped, and Dhawsn moved to get in front--but it didn't seem the Hatching would be bent towards violence so soon, thankfully. Relaxing, he gave the other candidate a thumbs up. Close call, huh?

“Why’s ‘at?” Dhawsn asked Helaku, having overheard someone by him and happy to take a stab at conversation as they stood. “Mean, guess it's good if they healthy, huh?” They were certainly handsome if nothing else! “Look at ‘em struttin’~”

arcadin - hr acupuncturist, 25, close to 7 feet tall, scarred af, and Not Friendly Looking

And...this was it. The jolt of the summons would have been enough to wake him anyway, but Arcadin had been meaning to get up at the crack of dawn. This was a nice introduction to that early schedule.

He bowed to the golds and stood up front, uncaring that his height would block out the view of others behind. The humming still seemed to vibrate through his wiry frame even after the eggs began hatching; he felt an itch to do so himself. A pair of bronzes tumbled out, and he issued a small sigh as he watched. It begins.

Arc is free to approach but....why would you tho............

arlie - hr herdbeast handling, 16, not even 5ft tall and a bit of a frightened rabbit

Arlie was shaken by the summons but dutiful to follow after her sister in the throng, as always. She shakily offered respect to the queens and had to resist not taking Haveli's hand as they found a place in the mass of candidates to watch the wobbling eggs. Her heart raced, and she tried to swallow it down.

Already one dragonet had gotten testy, and when the mother's roar made her back away a few steps on instinct, she wasn't feeling very optimistic. But maybe there was someone there for Haveli. That was the important part. And there had been a lot of sweet babies from Fianth's side of eggs, so...Maybe...

We're okay! she tried to think at Once Upon a Dream, hands clutching each other. Just a tiny misunderstanding, I think. So, um, don't worry! Take your time.

orri - hr masseuse, 5'10" blond nerd w glasses

THIS WAS IT.

After days of idle calculation and chatter with Dehka, after hours of daydreaming to get through his chores, the dragons began to hum one morning before the sun broke clear of the horizon. Orri couldn't imagine feeling like it was too early to get up now that the adrenaline was coursing through him. He could feel his fingers shaking ever so slightly as he got on his uniform, combed his hair and re-did his braid, cleaned his glasses and cursed when it kept smudging up.

The first thing he did--well, okay, first of course he patiently waited his turn to move up and bow to each of the golds and their chosen partners--but the first thing he did after that was flag Dehka down to come join him. The second thing he did was look for Falienn, which was surprisingly harder than he thought to do. There had been a definite hesitation when it came to the dragons he knew, sure, but Orri hadn't thought someone like him would try to fade into the background. Maybe it was just that there was a lot of people...

Eventually he spotted Falienn and called to him as he approached, toning down his excitement when Orri saw that he looked a bit shaken up still. The Touching didn't seem to soothe whatever worry he'd had. Well, what he needed was a friend to help him get through it was all. "Heya. Here like I promised," Orri said cheerfully. "Whether you like it or not."

Already the hatching was starting off with a bang. Not one, but two bronzes hatched first, almost as if the clutches were trying to go by color together. Could they talk to each other like they could their own siblings? He and Dehka had spent plenty of time mulling that interesting idea over...The first one of the bunch turned a red eyed glare towards one of the women, but at least it didn't start a fight. He winced as Rhianth roared, though.

"Spirited bunch, hers."

Saekagi- HR Candidate

Oh Faranth. Two bronzes.

Saekagi sucked in a nervous breath, shifting foot to foot from the heat to relieve his feet, and gave a silent wish to Faranth not to be trampled into that skin torturing heat by dragon feet that he had trouble picturing as either tiny or cute.

Painful maybe. Definitely painful. Potentially lethal too.

Faranth why did so much about dragon-riding have to be 'and by the way this can kill you', with large stretches of it also including the footnote 'and you will probably look like a shaffing idiot the whole time you're expiring'.

Not really the thought train he wanted to be having while literally on the sands, but it kind of stayed there, poking, like a thorn lost in a boot, growing increasingly more unpleasant as the first bronze roared and then started to patrol the sands, and the other looked around with whirling yellow eyes.

They weren't angry, that was good. That was good. He'd just keep reminding himself that was good right up until it baked his entire face by smooshing him into the sands.

The patrolling one, the one that was curiously green, that one he was definitely keeping an eye on. That one looked like it might put on a show and he didn't want to be one of the acts.

This was probably a good omen or something though right? Two healthy looking bronzes, one after the other? The clutch parents must be proud as anything right now.

He glanced briefly around him searching other candidate faces for reactions, trying to remember he wasn't the only one on the sand who'd ever been bloodied by a new hatched dragon.

K'der and Ysengreth

<It's a green!> K'der leaned forward in the stands for a moment, trying to get a better view in his brief burst of excitement, though his partner shut it down quickly with a firm reply.

<No.>

<What are you talking about my lo... oh. Oh wherry skulls you're right. BLAST.>

The greenrider sat back again, folding his arms sullenly and noting he now owed someone a couple marks... and a short sheeted bed. Ugh. What business did a bronze have with a lovely green sheen? He'd had one second of thinking it was the largest green in history and how damned amazing it would be if she impressed at the Reaches, and there was that fantasy shattered. Oh well. Didn't need anyone showing up Ysengreth anyway.... but this one might be one to watch.

Zamistia

Zamistia was already awake, when the humming began through the Weyr. Though she had never heard the sound before, she knew from her lessons that it meant the eggs were hatching. It was a good thing she was used to being up so early to take care of herdbeasts, so she wasn't as tired as some of her fellow candidates. She dutifully got into her robe and sandals, making sure her head of curly red hair was as neat as she could make it. Once she felt ready, she carefully followed after the throng of candidates filing out to head to the sands. She took a calming breath, reminding herself that her friends would be right beside her and the eggs she had touched had been so wonderful. When they got to the sands, she listened as the candidatemasters gave them any last instructions, before heading inside with everyone was. She bowed to all of the parents, a gentle smile on her lips when she thought of her interactions with the fathers. Then she looked to see where Shar and Riz had decided to be. She also looked for her sister, but also knew that Tizzy had decided to stand with some of her own friends she made. Hopefully her sister would be alright, she would have to keep an eye out.

The young woman was momentarily distracted by the sound of a crack and her eyes looked to the eggs to see which one. She couldn't tell which one, but she did catch a yellow eye peeking out somewhere from where she was standing. Oh no, seemed one of the babies was nervous, she could definitely understand that feeling.

It is okay.... little one,....you can come.... out when you... are ready, she thought softly to the egg. After that, her eyes soon spotted Shar's form off to the side, easy to find with her distance from the others. The young woman began to make her way over to where her friend was, trying to ignore the warmth of the sands. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad for her, coming from a warmer place. She also saw Riz heading in that direction too and she got over to them just a little after he did. She wondered if her sister and E'mel were up in the stands watching, she sure hoped so. Before she could think anything else or say hello to her friends, the silver and green egg seemed to split open. Her mind was too busy to focus on fear for the moment, even if she wasn't thinking on her happy thoughts anyway, as she tried to figure out the baby's color. It looked greenish, but she was pretty sure from her studies that it was too big for that. Maybe it was brown or bronze, she reasoned, it was possible they could be that greenish color..she thought.

"That baby is definitely...full of life,"she commented softly to her friends, to indicate her presence. It seemed to be full of itself and so she watched as it drew everyone's attention to it. She only diverted her gaze for a moment when she saw the flicker of a wave from Riz's friend, Ielin and she gave a quiet wave back.

"Hi Cavera,"she greeted as another one of Riz's friends joined them. She was feeling very protected right now, knowing the others would keep her safe. Then another movement drew her eyes back to the eggs, seeing a black and white egg beginning to shake. Well, someone was sure eager to come out, she thought to herself. Then she noticed a shine coming from the greenish baby..so it was clearly a bronze then. She knew it wasn't for her, but that didn't mean she couldn't watch it and hope it well. Then she heard a roar from one of the queens and her confidence wavered some. No, she reminded herself, happy thoughts, no time for fear. The queen was looking in another direction, so none of them had upset her. That and the baby that had..well, she thought it roared, seemed to calm down some. Her eyes watched it go to the males, as she knew it would do. After all, she may be fairly new to the Weyr, but that had been something they had gone over.

"If he stands any...straighter he may become...a tree,"Misty giggled, it helped her to stay calm. Then before she could say anything else, wobbling caught her attention, from the spotted purple egg from the other clutch. She heard it crack, then out came a very alarmed...bronze. Oh my, she hoped the little guy was alright. Another one she knew she wouldn't impress to, but she had hope either of the bronzes might be Riz's.

"Wow...two bronzes back to...back,"she marveled softly. The look in worry in the eyes of the dragonet made her worry some, though she tried to keep that under wraps. Happy thoughts, she reminded herself, focus on all the good things in your life. She had noticed Nala and sent a wave in her direction, seeing her away from others.

Ashlyn and Gyafrith

The pregnant Assistant Weyrlingmaster had trying to get comfortable, but had managed to drift off to sleep for the third time that night. Unfortunately, that was the time the humming started and she sleepily had to open her eyes back up. Well, it seemed they had work to do, she yawned as she got to her feet. She kissed her sleeping mate and checked on her son, before getting dressed in one of her blue work outfits. She did her hair, before grabbing a dress for the gathering later and Gyafrith's rider gear. Then the woman headed outside groggily, where her blue was waiting.

Mine, remember if you need to rest at all, please do so. I know you put everything into your job, but V'mel will understand,Gyafrith reminded, as she got his straps on him, with him having to help her mentally since she was still sleepy. Once it was secure, she stored her dress in one of his bags, before climbing into the saddle. Then they were off to the sands, going as carefully as the blue possibly could be. Once they were there, he landed gently and made sure she got off safely. Then he watched her head over to where the Weyrling team was, to prepare for the Weyrlings that would need food. He gave her updates, when he had gotten to a safe area, including her sister missing a sandal.

Demanthra and Monath

Much like the fateful day over a turn ago, when she had impressed, the young woman had been sleeping. Also like that day, she quickly woke up when she heard the sound of the humming. It helped that this time that one of those humming was her own green, who was all ready to go. So Demanthra quickly got dressed and brushed her hair, before grabbing something to wear for the feast and Monath's riding gear. Once she had everything she needed, she hurried to her green and began to get her ready.

Our first hatching as riders, Mine, isn't this exciting? Better than waking up in a cramped Candidate barracks though, huh? Hopefully many will find their matches, though not as pretty as me,Monath spoke. The green heard a snort of laughter from her bonded, which caused her to huff, before nuzzling her rider's cheek. She felt Demanthra climb into place, once she was in her straps, before she took off for the sands. It didn't take them long to get there and she allowed her rider to get down, going over to where Gr'del and the others were. She went to join Gyafrith, ready to come help her rider..if she needed.

Demanthra was keeping an eye on the candidates, making sure everyone was staying safe. She checked on all of her siblings that were on the sands and Rhiyn, her heart pounding at the thought of the other. Taking a deep breath, she wished them all luck out there. It also wasn't missed her sister had come out in the sand without one of her sandals, oh dear. Hopefully one of the other candidates noticed and got it for her, she would hate for her to be without one the whole hatching. The young woman also heard a roar from one of the queens, she was upset at one of the candidates. Oh, she hoped that was the only trouble today, which seemed to be solved quickly enough. Monath was making sure she knew what was happening with the eggs, since her attention was on the candidates. Two bronzes, some would say this would be a lucky sign indeed.

Grumioll
There. He spotted what he was looking for. He watched his target and the hatching dragonets in an alternating pattern, mind filing over the possibilities. He was fast and strong. The other could be fast, but certainly not strong. There were already two bronzes on the sands. A bronze could be for him, but not for the other. If he were attacked—he reached across his chest and cupped his gruesomely-scarred right shoulder—it was more likely that he would survive, rather than someone like that one. And someone who’d certainly be rejected by those two bronzes automatically had better odds of being attacked by one.

As Rhianth’s roar rang out, he made his decision and moved, while it was still relatively safe to do so. He placed himself close to the girl with the coppery red hair, slightly to one side and in front of her. He was already beginning to feel more peaceful.

Karone
The larger queen had already been moved to anger by someone who clearly forgot what they’d all been taught: Positive thoughts only. Kar knew well how difficult it could be to rein in the strongest feelings. He just hoped it was truly an accident and not one of the more arrogant candidates holding court in their own heads. He watched the bronze that had come from the green and silver shell, remembering its pride and self-assurance during that Touching. It was displayed clearly on the outside of the shell now. He sighed, guessing it was probably the latter blunder that someone had committed. Hopefully this wouldn’t set the tone for the entire hatch.

Karou
There were already two bronzes out of their shells. That was good, if he remembered snatches of conversation from his past life. He wondered what color he was “worthy” of. His father and brothers probably would have said bronze, but he wasn’t so sure. He was only second-best, after all.

If he Impressed, his search for his brothers would be all but over. But perhaps it already was. They’d all been pronounced dead, and Dusiph, a shell of the man and the father he had known, hadn’t even recognized him when they found him at Healer Hall. And how many places could there be on Pern that he hadn’t already been? His brothers would have been looking for him too, if they lived. Surely he’d have heard something.

He looked back at Yunara, smirking slightly at her obvious discomfort with either her location or her clothes, possibly both. She was the only thing left in his life that was familiar. He wouldn't say it aloud, but... it was a shame she hadn’t been Searched along with him. At least she was still nearby.

Whren - High Reaches - Tiny platinum blonde - He/him/ His

When the first hum started, Whren had been partially dozing under the weight of his bedding and flits. He was use to waking up early having been working as a ranch hand in Nabol. He still woke early and tended to doze until he truly had to get up. He sigh, shifting and ignored the unhappy peeps as Admiral and Captain lost their footing, the blues tumbling over the side. Reaching back, he unhooked Petite from his lower back, cradling the tiny green as he went to get dressed.

General stretched from his place on the left of his pillow and yawned widely before dropping down to root out the thin leather sandals needed from under the bed. The bronze brought then over to Whren, humming between the leather as he waited for them to be taken.

"Thank you." Whren took the sandals, slipping them on bare feet and double checked the robe was clean and straight enough. He ran a hand through his brushed hair and tied the mass back into a simple tail. It would do. "Stay here or find someone to get you breakfast." He said, giving the firelizards scratches under their chins before leaving.

He joined the other candidates and walked out onto the sands, glancing around at the crowd. He bowed politely to the queens and joined the others.

Damon Scurried onto the sands to take his place after all honors were made. This was it he could feel it. Holding his breath he watched the magnificent bronzes enter. One from each clutch too! This was going to be such a grand hatching.

Reenav was utter composure this time feeling his way to a spot with the boys that felt right shuffling idly this way and that until he attained perfection to watch.

Sayuri figeted standing with a clump of girls she didnt know. She disliked being alone in a crowd but perhaps today her dragon would be out there!

Jemaselle was awake and this, this was going to go good! She just knew it! She stretched out, feeling her joints pop and position Lace as the large green nearly slipped down the front of her shirt.

She switched into the candidate robe, slightly tight at her shoulders and biceps. Blah. Jemi shoved her feet into the thin sandals and ran a hand through her short crop hair, getting it in as much order as possible. "Okay, go hang with Whren's buggers or get breakfast while I'm gone or something."

Jemi sighed, continuing out to the sands and gave a bow to the queens before joining Whren. "Morning."

Lucius---High Reaches Candidate

Fond of sleeping in, even if he was never able to except on rest days, Lucius was jolted awake just like everyone. If it wasn't for the fact that he had grown up on a farm and was use to dragging himself out of bed early to do chores, he might have slept in. As it was, the call to arms and the humming was exhilarating. It was all he could do to keep himself from rushing to get dressed in his robes, hastily putting on his sandals before marching out with the others.

It was finally here, the eggs would hatch and there were so many of them! Bowing to the parents as they entered, the sandy haired young man turned to look for anyone that he recognized, his eyes falling on Zelaya. They had met a couple of times and they had seemed friendly enough. While everyone was getting settled, he moved over to her, smiling. "Can you believe it's finally here?" As he stood beside them, his eyes moved to look at the eggs, noticing that many of them seemed to be wobbling, and then one hatched and out came a very large green? Oh, no that was a bronze and a very confident one at that.

Another egg cracked its shell but nothing came out and then there was another bronze on the sands, though this one seemed worried in some way. "The dragonets seem to be just as eager as we are." He turned his head to look at them, the smile still there. "How are you doing right now?" He knew it could be daunting just standing here, even if they were just waiting around.

Tahirah-------High Reaches Candidate

A creel from Wadjet had stirred Tahirah from her sleep. The blue firelizard humming, his tones mixing in with that of the dragons. It had the girl jumping out of bed and getting ready, Wadjet draped on her shoulders when he could to try and help her to calm down. But they had to part, her hand reaching up to pat his head gently. "You know you can't follow me onto the sands. I'll be okay, I promise." She sent reassuring thoughts to the little flit before she filed out with the rest of the candidates and onto the sands.

She bowed to the parents before her eyes found the eggs. Her body moved through the candidates without any thought, having her end up next to a girl she recognized and a male, who she figured was the girl's twin. "Hey...Rune." She tried to have her voice be confident, she was nervous and excited at the same time by everything going on.

Reya | Western Standidate | she/her/hers

Reya could hardly be said to still be sleepy, despite the early hour. There was too much noise and excitement around her for that to be possible.

When word had come from High Reaches Weyr that their hatching had begun, her brother, R'bin, had actually come to get her first, before getting his brown dragon Huarangith ready to ferry candidates over. Then, while she waited on brown's back, adjusting the layers of clothing she'd thrown on, R'bin had fetched the other weyrfolk he had previously agreed to transport.

The young mother had felt a pang of guilt about leaving her son to miss this hatching, but Eridan had been sleeping over in a friend's weyr and there wasn't time to fetch him. With any luck, the hatching would conclude before he was home from the creche the following afternoon and he would never even realize he'd been left. Besides which, R'bin and Huarangith had both flatly refused to transport the child anywhere until he could demonstrably prove he could go between without soiling himself.

Upon arrival, R'bin had found Reya a place in the stands from which to watch the proceedings and then departed to attend to rider things, promising he would return before anything happened. She believed him. Although everything had moved very quickly at first, and the cold of between had shocked her awake, Reya got the feeling that things would be slow to start. In that, she was proved wrong. The first egg had already cracked open!

Reya gasped when the first dragonet hatched, and in this was not alone. She had never attended a hatching before, nor seen a newborn dragon, and until this moment she had never quite believed that it would be as exciting as people around the Weyr had claimed. She knew, however, that she would not be able to pry her eyes away from the goings-on, and that she was incredibly fortunate to be able to witness them.

Taibbi | High Reaches Candidate | she/her/hers

Taibbi didn't remember much of her morning. She had dreamed of droning sounds, like the last lingering vibrations of a hammer strike, and then there had been structured chaos. The dragons were humming and the eggs were hatching. Fortunately, she and the other candidates had been trained for this, and she was much less confused at this, her second hatching, than she'd been the first time around, having actually had time to learn the protocols and procedures.

But now she was on the heated sands, sweat already beading up behind her knees and under her arms, staining the hem and armpits of her white garment. Her hair hung lank to her shoulders and she wondered if she would have time to try to braid it back or something. The first to dragons being bronze, she knew she wasn't under consideration, so...maybe that would be okay. Just in case, she kept her movements slow as she raised her hands to her hair and began separating it into three greasy sections, her eyes all the while scanning for further movement among the eggs and keeping track of the two bronzes' locations.

She didn't have anything to tie her braid off with, so it would almost certainly unravel again, but Taibbi made herself not worry about that. Instead, she shuffled just a tiny bit closer to Fianth's clutch to try to get a better view of the proceedings. And also, maybe, to make it easier for a dragonet who wanted her (if one did this time around) to get to her without damaging anyone else in the process. Almost more than Impression, Taibbi's desire for this hatching was that nobody be injured the way they had been at the other one.

Rylyrr- High reaches- Tall giant -He/Him/his

He woke groggily at the early morning call and Drama's well drama, his blue flit sprawled out next to his head, patting him with his tail and making a mix between a hum and a whine.

"Really?" He muttered, poking the blue and got a n** to his fingers for his trouble as he pushed the tail out of the way. "Pffhs." Rylyrr reached back, dropping a corner of the bed on top of the dramatic blue and got out of bed.

He switched clothes and finger combed back his dreads into some what presentable tail and tied it back with a plain leather strap. It would do. He shoved his feet into he sandals and walked out.

He bowed to the queens and took his place. This.. this was the last time. It left a weight on him. He paused looking down and smiled at Akaris, gently gripping her hand. "Morning."

The hatching had started and there was two bronzes out now and he was not sure what had happened but someone had clearly upset one of the queens.

"She not upset at us... though hopefully that would be the last time she needs to interfere."Rylyrr, said, trying to reassure her. He wanted this to be a good and proper hatching for Akaris.

C’vi, brownrider/ he / stands / too tired to really flirt

When C’vi thought no one was looking—because surely they were watching the dragons on the sands—he shot Maddy a wink and a grin. He was a bit bewildered though, when he didn’t see any sign of Menny. Were they sleeping in, then? Silvie probably needed the sleep. He never would have dared waking the three year old before dawn.

Dragons were much more bold.

“Maybe this time you’ll end up with a surprise dragon,” he teased.

Dehka

His grogginess upon being woken so early evaporated with a heart-lurching start, and the boy quickly washed his face before dawning his robes. Kahbrohm still hadn't said anything to him... or to their father, and that was enough to cloud his thoughts with worry. He'd never seen him so angry before... and Dehka knew it was because he'd spoken up. Talking with Orri about their theories and thoughts had definitely helped pass the time, but... He tried to give himself a firm shake, knowing those thoughts weren't appropriate for the sands. The eggs. His heart leapt again and Dehka hastily donned his thin sandals and hastened out with the rest of the others.

It was easy to pick out Kahbrohm, and the smaller boy bit his lip uneasily before he decided he'd stand nearby. Angry or not, Kah was still his brother, and Dehka wasn't going to leave him alone on the sands. Not that he would mind, probably. Orri was flashed a genuinely relieved smile: it was good to have a friendly face nearby. The boy wasn't shy about wanting bronze like his father... and from the looks of it, he might just get lucky today!

He watched the first bronze with wide eyes, noting how carefully it extricated itself from its shell. Before it had done much though, its eyes whirled red, and it hissed with apparent outrage at a girl in particular... only to be answered by Rhianth's angry roar. Dehka nearly jumped, swallowing thickly--and gave a start when he realized that another person he recognized was close by! "Soui!" He whispered, pleased to see her. He stepped a little closer, but made sure he wasn't too far from Kah... Soui, he thought, could use a friend to stand! Before he could get too far, a second bronze made itself onto the sands with a squawk, and Dehka was worried by the color of those eyes...

Finally, it was time. The redhead had no doubt that these dragons would be worth the wait, but in the meantime, he had divine company in his presence. He paused to rest his cheek briefly upon the top of that dark, thick hair, his arm wrapped around Amaretti's in turn as he watched the first bronze that had emerged with a calculating, pleased expression. He'd known it would be bronze. How could it not have been? Such an ambitious, proud creature...

"I knew he would be." He grinned loftily, pausing to twist his head. Another bronze, was it? It didn't look quite as confident as its sibling, but that was hardly a surprise. "And some idiot's already tried to upset them." Dynz snorted, rolling his eyes. Fortunately, the Slytherin bronze didn't seem inclined to lash out, but Rhianth was not pleased.

Things were already kicking off, though the larger queen's anger was enough to make him shake his head. Had they already forgotten their lessons? Well. It didn't matter. He'd found the one candidate he had interest in and moved purposefully across the sands to stand next to Talis without much ceremony. "Two bronzes. I've heard that's good luck." He said, his eyes shifting between the two hatchlings.

The early hour didn't bother her, and she rose and quickly washed and dressed herself as was expected. She'd made peace with herself, she thought, and her decision had been made. Though she may not ever Impress a queen, there was nothing shameful in a fighting dragon. She may not be able to lead from the top.. but she would defend Pern to the best of her ability and lead by example.

With these thoughts firmly in mind, she strode onto the sands with confidence, ignoring the others as a familiar candidate from Western caught her eye. She stood by Martidae, folding her arms to keep her hands from fidgeting. "If only women could ride bronzes." She grumbled, eyeing the two hatchlings with an appreciative gaze.

Phryana

She was quite used to being forced to drop everything on a whim and make herself beyond presentable at a moment's notice, so the call that the eggs were hatching failed to send her in a tizzy. She rose at once and garbed herself, deftly working on her hair and face until Phryana knew she looked as though she'd been expecting this event for at least an hour now. The sands were hotter than she could have expected, and though the heat was uncomfortable through her thin sandals, she contented herself by shifting her weight.

The dark-haired woman arranged herself near the back of the gathered candidates, observing everything. Two bronze hatchlings--and one upset mother. Briefly, she glanced towards the stands, wondering if she would see a familiar, beautiful face among the crowd... but then she returned her attention to the eggs and the young dragonets.

She was here as an observer after all, nothing more. The life of a dragonrider was not meant for her... but that didn't mean that she wouldn't take in this experience to the fullest.

Akaris
It might not have been directed at them, but it had certainly startled her, especially as there was no indication of what had happened to upset the bronze and his gold mother - who had thought what, to get such a reaction? Oh, dear. It was a rather forceful reminder to be careful, not that she had particularly needed one, and she forced herself to breathe more slowly. Rylyrr's presence and voice were soothing, and she gradually loosened her grip.

The hatching of one of Fianth's eggs was a good distraction, as she had very much liked that clutch. And it was another bronze! "Ohh, look at that one," she admired wistfully. How lovely he was! "Two bronzes already, you boys are lucky."

Since she couldn't have one, no matter how much she wished she could - Faranth, she'd finally decided she wanted a dragon, and of course she wanted the one hide she couldn't have (which probably said something about her) - but maybe one of them would be for Rylyrr. It was the best she could hope for. If anyone deserved a dragon, he did.
