Spurth

Name: Spurth
Age: 8
Color: Bronze
Size: 85'
Physical Description: Maybe a little under average size for a bronze, Spurth is nonetheless healthy and hardy and raring to do, He is compact, rather than small, wider at the shoulder joints and tidily tapered toward the tail. He is fairly agile for a bronze, as a result.

Personality: Spurth is a match for his rider, without question. Energetic and excitable, S[urth has a tendancy to get very invvested in whatever has caught his attention for the time being. He is determined not to give up, sometimes beyond the pint where he really *should* have moved on to something else.

He is friendly and outgoing, willing to be a companion or assistant to nearly any dragon. He is also a fan of play, in whatever sense the word is spoken. He will race other dragons, enthusastically join in Flights, and listen with undeniable eagerness to any story from any voice. When play is over, he is eager and content with getting back to work.

The one area where he and His are least alike is in their devotion to prompt duty. While En'cai has a tendency to be late to all occasions, Spurth is no doubt the reason the rider sometimes shows up at all. He is driven and quite hard on himself when he fails at any thing. Rather than sulking, however, he picks himself up, gives himself a good shake and tries again. Never surrender!

Name: Eralgais
Age: 17 18
Nameday: 3559.01.28
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Not so experienced. Not so picky.
Craft: N/A
Rank: Weyrbrat
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description: Eralgais is full of potential, physically. He's bound to be on the tall side, given that he's hit 6' 2" already. Lanky limbs have become more defined, bulking toward a more athletic build. He still has growing to do, but he may well one day be a formidable-looking man. Sandy brown hair is worn long, to the shoulder, but more often than not kept braided. His eyes are deep water blue, his smile is broad and bright, and he dresses for comfort, not outspoken style.

Personality: If Eralgais lived by a slogan, it would be that more is everything. This is not a young man who lives by small measures. He is willing to try anything once and most of what he's experienced to date he would be more than happy to do again. He is outgoing and fearless. His greatest challenge is sitting still. He knows how to take a punch and throw one, though he'd prefer to do neither, thank you. He'd rather laugh than argue, rather be outside than under any sort of shelter, and rather be surrounded by other people than left alone with his own thoughts.

He has never been the best student. He reads and writes, of course, but does neither for fun. Ask him to help take something apart or put something together though, and you will find him a constantly happy, cheerful young man.

He lacks a little self control and has a very thin filter on speaking his mind. This makes him fairly easy to manipulate and has led to him taking the blame for things that are not genuinely his fault. He is unflinchingly faithful to his friends and refuses to pass on punishments he completely believes he can handle. He will not turn anyone in for a "crime" committed unless it ends in someone getting hurt. He'll be the fall guy and do extra chores or weather a lecture because at the end of the day, there are things that matter and things that ultimately don't. He would rather be trusted to be reliable than to be seen only covering his own a**.

Positive Trait List Fearless, faithful, protective
Negative Trait List Over-confident, easily manipulated, restless

History: Eralgais was born and raised at High Reaches, . Always a cheerful kid, he often found himself getting into mischief, not always of his own devising. That's not to say that he didn't have a gift for wearing out an adult's patience with a barrage of questions or following through on the impulse to wander when he was meant to be in class, but he also often comfortably took the blame for misbehaving for other children.

It's a habit he hasn't grown out of as he's grown up. Trading lectures from the harpers teaching him to extra shifts of chores while in the barracks during a Hatching cycle, it just seems to be one of his most-practiced skills. Since becoming old enough to Stand as a candidate at the Weyr, he has eagerly done so, hoping not-so-secretly to follow in his father's footsteps and meet his dragon on the Sands.

Other: Anything else you want to add? Want to have some fun? Eralgais is your guy. <3 He's a son of Herg'r, so if you need a Viking spawn, also your guy.

Name: C'mric (Cormeric)
Age: 22
Nameday: 3553.07.02
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wi'rider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Healer

Physical Description: C'mric is a big lad, and might even get broadder if not taller. Not that he needs more height, standing almost 6'5" as he already does. Not a bad looking boy, all around, if not destined to stop onlookers or make girls swoon at first sight. His jaw is square, his nose just a little crooked from too much enthusiastic roughhousing with his siblings, his eyes are a warm amber-brown, and his hair so dark brown it's nearly black, kept short and tidy.

Personality: First and foremost, C'mric has a stutter. He has worked his whole life to overcome it. Fear, excitement, and embarrassment make it more apparent, but in casual conversation he only trips over the occasional word. As a result, he speaks very deliberately and takes care with complicated words. He doesn't always get a joke right away, either. He's not slow or stupid, though some have called him that, but he has no great wit. He will not be trading barbs with sharp minds unless they're feeling generous and give him time to think. He does, though, have a laugh that can be heard from quite a distance away. It can be startling. It's certainly recognizable.

He is sturdy and steadfast. He's not a daredevil or a risk taker, though he does occasionally accept a dare that might push the boundaries of common sense. He's not good with sudden personal change, though. Oh sure, if it's someone else caught off guard, or if he knows it's coming, he can handle it well, but surprises sprung on him directly either confound him or frustrate him, which leads to him going tight-jawed and broody, a complete retreat inside himself until he works out how should and is meant to react. This is something he is working hard to overcome, but he's not there yet.

He is a champion of the underdog. Not that he seeks out those in need of protecting or those who seem weaker than the rest. He is simply there as quiet backup in an unfair fight, or there to offer a hand (or a shoulder) when those who struggle could use a little lift. He has a very clear personal sense of what is fair and just and he wants to keep his world as balanced as he can. He won't provoke a fight if he can help it, but he can hold his own when push comes to shove.

He is aware of the fact that the last thing people think of when they look at him is 'healer'. Does it bother him to be judged and dismissed? Yes, sometimes, but he also truly enjoys seeing disbelief turn into genuine happiness and relief.

Positive Trait List Fair. Reliable. Hard-working.
Negative Trait List Self-conscious. Resistent to change. Slow of wit (not dim-witted).

History: Cormeric was born at High Reaches and raised in the creche. He knows who his parents are and he knows which of the other children he grew up with are actually related to him, but that didn't matter much when all was said and done. He considered many of the other children his brohers and sisters despite the fact that they had no blood in common. It was just easier that way.

Though he started off as one of the smallest boys and his stutter made some discount him out of hand, it soon became apparent that he wouldn't always be the runt, so to speak. He was therefore taught, early on, to be mindful of his size and his potential strength. As he grew, he also learned to use his strength to best advantage when it was needed, so he was sometimes called on to help restrain an injured man or even beast.

He discovered, then, that helping others, particularly in a crisis, helped him think on his feet. That combined with a curiosity about the way the healers worked led to him asking to be allowed to study as a somewhat unofficial apprentice to a healer in the weyr. Until he learned how to think critically without adrenaline to fuel him, he was warned he'd have no place at Healer hall, but he didn't object. He was content to stay in High Reaches, learning what he could.

And of course, he had his eye on the dragons. He saw himself in them, in a manner of speaking. Big and yet graceful, imposing and desired. He watched some of his "family" take to the Sands, so when the question came about whether he would take his turn with the next clutch, he cheerfully agreed and took his place among new classmates.

It was, perhaps, the best thing that ever happened to the boy. Oh, he excelled at chores and didn't mind doing the work. That part hadn't ever really been in question. There were some, however, who doubted whether he would be able to keep up with lessons, whether he could pick up on the little social and behavioral clues that might make him more attractive to a dragon, but little by little, he began to come out of his shell and learn how to anticipate where a conversation might go. When to tell a joke. Who could be trusted with a secret.

Whether Orthoth would have found him without that enforced practice is a question that can never be answered. An answer wouldn't change their fate. The big bronze found his lifemate at his Hatching and the world has been better for them both, ever since. The world is a little less full of mystery and in those moments when the rider struggles with how to make his points, the dragon is there to back him up. As it should be.

Other: Anything else you want to add? Are you a Wyrbrat? Want to claim C'mric as "family"? Hit me up.

Orthoth

Name: Orthoth
Age: 6
Color: Bronze
Size: 88'

Physical Description: Orthoth is a large bronze, a powerhouse of a dragon. Like his rider, he sometimes forgets just how large he is and can get himself in a little trouble. He's evenly proportioned. It's just that the proportions are big. He may not have of the richer tones some other bronzes have, but let him catch the light at just the right angle and he'll shine like a copper buckle for all of Pern to see.

Personality: Orthoth is loud, both physically and mentally. He never speaks in anything less than above-average-volume and his vocalizations-- bugles, trills and even hums-- will be nothing short of deafening. His jovial nature and bold, brash way of interacting with others makes him quite the life of the party, if by "life of the party" you mean the most noticeable one there. He'll bound right up to meet you, introduce himself and be all too happy to tell you a story to make you feel at ease. Actually, that amiability and volume can often get in the way of Orthoth's work as well as his socializing. After all, it's hard to hear instructions if you're bugling over your excitement for the task or to befriend someone when they can't make themselves heard over you.

Orthoth just loves to be part of the conversation, because everyone in the Weyr-- unless they prove otherwise-- is his friend, his ally, his stalwart companion-- second place only to His, of course. He loves to hear what another dragon has to say-- at least the start of it-- and offer his own feedback and advice on the subject. It's the stereotypical Bronze posturing with none of the arrogance behind it. Why, Orthoth isn't 'in charge' per say-- he's just trying to help you out, good buddy! Here, he'll even lend a hand! He's always happy to be doing something for or with other people, but he doesn't always recognize that he may not be the dragon for the job. More than once will Orthoth brush off warnings about his size or disposition and get himself in trouble for it, though after the initial disappointment that he's let people down he'll be sunshine and flowers again.

That sheer caring for others lends itself to other aspects of how he views the world as well. He's a stolid ally to those who deserve it, but he's equally dangerous to those who don't. Orthoth won't stand for bullying or any of the other tricks some dragons and humans employ to create compliance in others. As with anything, he's likely to be the one speaking up for the victim, suggesting that the bully just move along. This Bronze adapts easily to changes, be they small or large, and is more than accepting of anyone's quirks.

Orthoth has trouble understanding humor sometimes, and it may sometimes take him longer than average to puzzle out the punchline of a joke or the irony in an ironic comment, but he responds enthusiastically once he understands, sometimes to the point of being a bit too enthusiastic. Whether he understands immediately or it takes him awhile, expect guffaws and over-enthused congratulations of the teller's delivery, wit, and the joke overall.

[PRP] Maintaining and Meeting (C'mric/Jahzli)

~Completed~

~Incomplete~

PostPosted: Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:27 am
Name: L'zant (Lorenzant)
Age: 42
Nameday: 3534.12.02
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Flexible
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Harper
Physical Description: L'zant is a trim man, fit enough to keep up with his duties but not layered with muscle or bulky in any sense. He has the sort of build that, should he ever retire, might lend itself to a little bit of a paunch, but he will neveer go truly soft. His frame simply won't carry the weight. He was a handsome man who went grey early on and is forced now to settle for "distinguished" as a descriptor, dark hair having gone a steely sort of grey with silvering at the crown and temples. He has sun-touched skin that doesn't eed more than a few hours under the sun to maintain its color. His well-tended goatee is still black and his eyes are a startling blue beneath heavy dark brows. He favors loose sleeves he can roll to the elbow, tailored trousers and almost always completes his look with a vest. His boots, barring bad weather, are always polished and in remarkable shape.

Personality: L'zant is really not interested in drama. Oh, the life of a dragon rider is fraught with troubles, large and small, but he has never really been interested in participating in anything he could avoid. He is not a gossip or interested in trading secrets. He will keep those he's told, and he'll do so flawlessly, but it you're looking for dirt on someone, for vengeance or for fun, he's more likely to simply stare at you than tell you anything interesting.

Which is not to say that he lacks a sense of humor or doesn't know how to have fun. On the contrary, he has a wicked sense of humor that is probably too dry for many people's liking. He is fond of puns. He tells terrible jokes, and should you convince him to drink enough for his usual reserve to wash away, he is excellent at delivering insults with a casual sort of charm that has earned him more than a few punches and a couple of loose teeth.

Oh, and while he isn't dramatic, there are those who might call him a little eccentric. He does have a love for the rare and unique, and has a little collection of things no one else can boast.

But when he hasn't let loose, he is professional and a very much a traditionalist in that he feels that everyone is built for a particular niche and those who overreach theirs are a waste of time. Though he studied as a harper and has been known to write the occasional song or poem (again, ask him when he drinks), he was on track to become a teacher before Bhavaranth found him. In the aftemath, he has discovered a love of history that finds him very often in the records room on his rest days.

Positive Trait List sharp-witted, professional, reliable
Negative Trait List standoffish, sharp-tongued, critical

History: L'zant was born near Lemos Hold and was the oldest of three children in his family. A storyteller from his earliest memory, it was natural to look to the Harpers when it came time to pick a craft. Initially, it was writing and composing that caught his fancy, but as he learned more of Pern's history, he became fascinated by it and his writings turned away from fully invented stories to grant retellings of the stories of people who'd come and gone and all the things he'd done.

He was, as a matter of fact, on a research trip to Fort Hold and the Harper Hall when he was Searched, just shy of his nineteenth Nameday. He accepted the Searchrider's invitation to travel back to High Reaches Weyr, and Impressed almost exactly one Turn later to the first dragon to truly take his breath away: his stunning Bhavaranth.

Once Weyrling training was through and the pair had more time to themselves, L'zant embarked on a quest to earn access to the Weyr's record rooms, and did his best to tolerate the poetic stylings of the dragon who had become his lifemate.

Other: L'zant undoubtedly has a few children, the oldest being 20 or so. He is a tolerant parent, though not particularly indulgent, and though he has been present, he has never been overbearing or overly involved in their raising. He loves them, of course, and would protect them, but he doesn't particularly want them in his weyr.

Bhavaranth

Name: Bhavaranth
Age: 22
Color: Blue
Size: 58'

Physical Description: Bhavaranth is a fairly large blue. Not among the largest of his color, but enough beyond average that it will be noticed. He is a bit stocky in build, so is not fantastically graceful or agile in the air, but he still has a certain style when he flies. He is far from clumsy, in other words, and though he is not a true acrobat, he can still put on a good show, should he so choose.

Personality: First and foremost, Bhavaranth is a poet. What his rider lacks in perfprmance, Bhavaranth has in spades. He is happy to create a croon to share with the right lady -- or any lady, really -- and he has been known to attempt to flatter the fairer sex with poems like those his Harper-trained rider would ...never put out into the world.

He is a very clever, but is not a braggart. Nor is he a stalker. He simply wants to appreciate the beauty in all the shades of green and golden (and yes, sometimes white -- why deny it?) hides.

He is a dutiful dragon as well, and will perform the tasks he's asked, by either his rider or his wingleader, without complaint. If he can do them in the company of a lovely lady, so much the better.
