my brother's gf is a lacto-ovarian vegetarian.

she will eats eggs and dairy products.

to me that seems fine, it doesnt hurt the cows or hens (much, i know their conditions can be improved) and you can afford it.

but a regular vegtan diet is expenxsive if you get a lot of substitues for ordinary food, and if you don't it's either monotonous or unhealthful since you may have difficulty getting a whole protein, and getting much vitamin D and E.

Scary fact for all of you vegitarians out there: when fesh veggies hit your stomach acid most of them are still alive, destined to be burned to death by the hydrochlocic acid that resides in your gut.

I'm pesco-vegetarian, meaning I am a "vegetarian" that still eats fish.

It doesn't seem like such a problem to me and it wasn't that hard to do since I didn't eat alot of red meat or chicken in the first place.

I don't drink milk or eat alot of dairy products because I am slightly lacto-intolerant.

I also don't really like eating eggs. ><;;

Well, the reason for my eating habit change was because of religion, but after a year I became less religious but still upheld this diet. A healthy diet is good, but it becomes unhealthy if you suddenly change into a vegetarian diet. Just be careful and make sure your body has all the vitamins and nutrition you need to survive. 3nodding

I eat what I'm given. if its meat, its meat. if it's veggies, its veggies.
as for meat and killing,
if deer isn't kept in check, there would be many more accidents involving dear. bambie's cute until you (just a scenario) crash into five of them and kill your buddy who just got a deer in his lap.
Cows are good food, though if they were fed more naturally, like corn instead of the hormonal stuff, they would be even better for us.
if a fish can eat a worm, I should be able to eat a cow. You don't see the animal rights groups complaining about other preditors eating habits. Just because a bear eats berries, doesn't mean it doesn't eat other things. So if they really see people as the same as animals, they should just leave our eating habits be. But I have a hunch that they actually know that we really are a much higher lifeform. (reasoning with a bear rofl )

Hey! I've been a vegetarian for 7 years and I'm 19 years old. I used to say I was a veg. for two reasons: my health and that the cruelty to animals is wrong, but recently I found out that I am anemic, because I am not getting enough iron in me. If I ate meat I would get enough iron. So, yeah I am taking vitamins now, but still, you can't say it is entirely better for you because there are some risks.

I personally can't stand eating meat while thinking about those poor animals, but I know that each person makes their own choice and I do not criticize other people for their eating choices. I also am sick of people asking me why I am a veg. I just am. Stop asking!!

I think humans are 'carnivorous animals'. They were hunters, in Stone Age they hunted for food and ate other animals. It's nature.

Though I don't think pork and beef taste good (Just don't eat it.). I prefer poultry.

I've been a vegetarian for 13 years, now, and I've been through all of this before. rolleyes

There's an arguement to combat any other arguement, so noone really gets others to see thier point of view.

What I hate is when people say it IS one way or the other, rather than saying "I believe that...". Like earlier in this thread, there was a girl who said "humans are meant to eat meat" instead of "I believe that humans are meant to eat meat". There's nothing to prove either way.

I just think that it's wrong to kill another living thing unless it's absolutely necessary. But, I'm an extremeist that way. I'm a vegetarian, I don't wear leather or fur, I'm against the death penalty and I'm pro-life. It's really hard to find other people who agree with me.

Precision of language can be tricky that way.

Humans are designed to pursue predatory endeavors, as indicated by our forward facing eyes and sharp teeth. However, we are also able to adapt to plants, fruits, and nuts, as evidenced by our molars and fine-motor skills.

NO!! I AM NOT A VEGITARIAN!!!!!!!! scream WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE NUTS??!!?? if god did not want us to eat his creatures, he wouldn't have made tem so delicious. and i think that eating plants is worse. think about it... if you convince the world to go veggie, what would thw animals eat? and if you eat the vegitable right after you pick, pluck, cut, ect. it, you are worse!! the thing will still technicilly(?) be alive!! SICKO!!

Whoa, I'm going to have you to calm down here. I'm positive you don't feel THAT strongly about eating plants.

I'm also positive that you eat nothing but meat, so you're just as bad as anyone else, if eating plants is wrong. And systems can function just perfectly without meat, as it's actually far more energy efficient and space effecient than animals.

Please reword your post to reflect your opinions more clearly.

What has always bothered me about this, is Veggies don't bother to take anything into account except 'we are hurting the animals.'

We, as humans, are omnivores, we are built to eat both plants and animals. Meat gives us proteins that our body needs. If you are going to b***h about how a cow was raised on some farm in Alabama, you might as well b***h about the lion that is ripping the throat of a gazelle out.

For thousands of years, we have eaten meat. No one is going to stop us in any way, it is just impossible. I really wish people would stop trying. Lame.

For every animal you don't eat, I'll eat three.

I don't think I'll stop eating meat. I like meat. It tastes good, and humans are omnivorous. The only meat I don't like to eat is chicken, because my friend had pet chickens and a chicken named Mama adopted me. It bothered me eating chicken after that.

what people really don't understand is how delecate the ecosystems are around the world. if everyone stopped eating meat, then there would be alotta trouble. my (MEAN!) science teacher showed me this. he made me do so much work on food chains... and the slightest thing can impact them..

now i'm a long term meat eatter but i looove animals, and i beleve that we shouldn't make them suffer, but the truth is they are really stupid... sheep are just SO dumb! and cows they are mass scary!! have you ever been in a creek with a herd of cow!! i have.. they are feaky and smelly and slobbery...

now i admit i've tried to be veggi but... truth is i did it as a kid and just wanted to try it. i think it's really hard because you don't get the necessary vitamins and minerals etc that you need. it takes alot of veggies to replace the nutrients meat give you.. and if you stop eating the meat then there are just more of the poor animals stuck in the horrid contions eh? there are many ways to look at this issue

as the add on aussie tv says "Red meat. We were born to eat it"
