picking up drugs can be like picking up a stray puppy.
they can look like fun, but bite you.
it happened to me, and it hurt

V For V I don't use drugs because my mind is capable the way it is. Ditto. I like me. I don't really wish to alter myself by using potentially harmful substances. If I want to alter my perceptions, I'll do it myself, using my imagination and a little creativity.

daisytruck I love how people now use the excuse of not wanting to smoke because they don't want to conform like some sheep. I think that's what makes you a tool; not wanting to do something because you think it's the thing to do amongst your peers. I partake in recreational activities because I love to experiment with new things, and I love the variation in perception my mind plays on the simple things around me. Not because it's the "in" thing. It's not even such. Wahh, I put my fist in my mouth because my friends told me to, just like they told me to do pot. I guess you should believe the commercial because there's a boy and you can relate to him. Wow, John Ritter was really fat before he died. Are you trying to say smoking is a good thing...... You know how many people in my family have died from it.....

I've smoked pot before. I treat it more or less like alcohol, and won't use it during the week, when there isn't someone I trust around, when I'm in a crappy mood, or when I have work or uni before noon the next day. Funny thing is, I'm even a bit more lenient with pot, because it doesn't give you hangovers, and actually seems to have less bad side effects than alcohol.
Before I did more than consider using pot, though, I found out as much information as I could about it. I made sure I knew what I was getting myself into, as much as I could, and decided to do it anyway. [It took me six months to agree.] It didn't blow up in my face, and I'm glad I tried it, now. But I wouldn't do anything harder or anything even remotely addictive until I'd found out as much as I could, and decided for myself whether it was worth it or not.

I can't smoke pot I'm allergic to THC and it makes my throat close up so badly that I need and adrenaline shot. That's really my only issue with it though. From the information I've seen none of it's effects are any mroe extreme than alchol or nicotine and for that matter caffeine could be potentially much more dangerous than marijuana.
Although for the record it does smell gawd awful, the only people who like the smell of weed seem to be people who smoke it regularly.

I prefer pot to alcohol because you can't overdose on it, there is usually no hangover, and as long as you don't drive stoned you're generally ok. I think alcohol is much more dangerous and it makes me really sick and dehydrated, so I avoid it altogether.
I wouldn't consider doing harder drugs, which alcohol is a "harder drug" to me because you can overdose from it and it's incredibly addicting. However, i think people should basically do what they want as long as they aren't harming others.
However...the debate on second hand smoke is an important one. The government has been telling us for years that it is lethal, yet most independent studies say otherwise, it's a matter of which scientists you trust. Either way, there is a lot more pollutants in the air from factories, cars, and other industrial sources than from cigarettes. (I don't smoke cigarettes either, I just think it's an issue that needs a lot more research before condemning anyone)
That's not to say I want people blowing cigarette smoke in my face...but it should be up to individual property owners when smoking is or is not allowed. i don't know about your home state, but in mine (Oregon) smoking in restaurants is not allowed. This is really ridiculous, because it should be up to the restaurant owner whether or no he wants smoking to be allowed. Most people do not smoke, so it would be most beneficial to them to disallow smoking in their restaurant....and the few restaurants in town who want to allow smoking would attract more smokers and less non-smokers....I think the real problem people have is they can't tell their friends "no" when their smoking friend asks to sit in a smoking section.
Sorry....a little ranty...I just know a lot of smokers and some are trying to quit....others aren't....and all of them are treated rudely by non-smokers.
*ahem* so yeah....just everyone be nice to each other, that's all I want. lol ~Anise

I don't do drugs 'cause I don't want to screw my brain over. It turns out to pretty useful, ya know.
Besides, it seems stupid to be in something that is expensive and risky to buy. And will only make it hard for you to get out of when you are losing money. So don't get started. It's bad. Smells bad too.
Cigarettes smell bad also. Why would someone even go for that? Huh. It's probably a good thing I turned out to have an aversion to such substances on my own. Even alcohol.
But I feel really sorry for the mules...
