Highflyer's Narrow escape: 11/18/06
Crowfoot Lightning grinned triumphantly as he thought about the death of the blue mare. One less twit in the world, he was a good person. It had only been a little while since he had walked away from her body, and it was still day. Oh well, he was happy.. no, thrilled that he had managed to kill something so big. He was becoming a better fighter, though there was not alot to train on, he was so good. No he was incredible, wasn't he? And incredibly haot. Infact, he was the best soquili in the world. No one could outdo him.
As Lightning nurtured his already swollen ego, clouds started to cover the sun in a thick, gray veil.
Shariea Highflyer bolted from the sky as the grey clouds began to cover the sun. She squinted through the growing darkness and sighed as her hooves touched the ground. It looked like it was going to rain.
The little flutter shook herself, the cold autmn wind was coming in from the south and she had a feeling it was going to be a bit more than just some simple rainfall. Flicknig his teal tail aginst the grass the coloful flutter quietly began to make her way from the medow and into the forest where she could hopefully find some shelter from the coming storm.
Crowfoot [ Lightning stretched his legs, and looked up at the sky, again. Yuck, it would probably rain. A wet pelt was no fun. Grunting, he turned around. The forest was just back there, he could make it no prob'm. Ohohoho, but what was that? A cold blue eye spied out a flutter mare. There wings were oh so fragile.. Hey, he killed one, why not make it two? Forgetting about the oncoming storm, the skinwalker quietly made his way across the meadow towards it, flat teeth begging to rip up those pretty wings.
Shariea Highflyer sighed a bit as the first cold drops fell and hit her, sending a cold chill running up her spine. "silly rain." she said with a shake of her head as another droplet rell square on her nose.
Chuckling to herself the puple mare looked up at the sky as more drops began to hail down upon her. It was as she was looking sky ward that she caught something moving behind her. Turning her head the mare frowned...why was that soquili wearing a pelt? "Hello?" she called out to the stallion, her wet wings drooping to her sides.
Crowfoot The skinwalker blinked and grumbled for a second, frowning at the flutter. Why couldn't he sneak up on anything?! Oh, what the heck. He loped towards her casually, bearing a fake grin. Suprise would be on HIS side this time. It better be.
"Hi." His eyes darted towards those fragile, delicate wings.. He chewed on his lips, gazing at them. He would have them.
Shariea The purple flutter smiled at the strange stallion and raised her gaze to the sky again. "Are you running from the rain too?" she asked him as she dropped her gaze again. Her wings where fairly useless in the rain, for some reason she couldnt seem to fly every well when her wings where wet. She Looked at her wings ad fanned them out for a moment as if wanting to bat the rain drops away.
"Excuse me, but Im very curious, why are you wearing a pelt?" she asked him with a tilt of her head, sending a teal river of damp mane running down her purple shoulder.
Crowfoot Lightning nodded stiffly, still looking at those perfect.. if wet wings. The pelt was starting to get really soggy, and he shook himself, ridding himself of most of the water. He raised an eyebrow at her question, and didn't really know how to answer it. He didn't know WHAT he was, a skin.. skincoyote? He didn't know.
"Because.." He grinned, "I'm a skincoyote.." The wings.. he had to have them. Snarling, he tried to get a hold of one of them in his mouth, flat teeth nashing.
Shariea "you're a skincotote?" She managed to ask before a scream and a terrified whinny escaped her. In her reaction to get away from the pain that had ripped through her wing. All to late she realised that her reaction had been what hard torn her wing, leaving a small chunk of it hanging from the stallions mouth!
"What is the matter with you!" she screamed at him, pulling her wings in close to her body and away from him. At one point in time another stallion had nibbled on her wings, he had thought they where candy...they where NOT candy! "My wings are not food, candy or any part of a soquili diet!" she pouted, the pain of her wing slowly ebbing into a dull ache that turned into a stabbing pain when moved.
She Glared at the stallion and moved to trot deeper into the forest, she wanted nothing to do with him!
Crowfoot Triumphant! Lightning grinned, holding the delicate peice of wing in his mouth, before dropping it. Ignoring her comments, he followed her briskly, soggy pelt sprinkling rain water onto the equally soggy ground.
He had to have all of it. The rain hit his brow, causing his vision to blur slightly. Ew. Shaking his head, the water droplets slid off his cheek, and he kept both eyes on the flutter.
Shariea He was chasing her? The mares eyes went wide as she looked behind her. The ground was growing slick with the rapid down poor of rain, so she ran as fast as she dared upon the slick grass her little hooves where already slipping now and then sending her body jolting to the side.
Her wing stung as she ran but she ignored the pain, her long teal mane streaming out behind her as she tried to outdistance the strange stallion. She weaved her small body in and out of the trees in an attempt to loose him.
Crowfoot Hah, she finally realized. Lightning galloped much faster then he dared, having to catch himself from falling every few steps. He had to be careful, Lightning decided, and slowed down a considerable pace, but still kept right on the mare's tail.
He would probably go back for that wing peice.. maybe not. It was pretty. So what if he was supposed to be evil [Which he was], he still liked pretty things. "Wooow!" Suddenly he was slipping and sliding down the slick mud path, right into the mare.
Shariea Something hit her back feet and all at once the world she knew was above her and the sky she loved was below her. She fell hard onto the muddy ground, a small grown escaping her as she laid there in a pile of legs and wings. She didnt know what had hit her, but it had been something hard... and fleshy.
She opened her eyes with a start, forcing herself to look around for that strange stallion. Where was he oh spirits where was he!? She tried to get up, but in the soupy mud she could only slide. The purple mare was painted brown in the mud as she struggled to get up, her wing was throbbing with every movement and she grit her teeth together.
Crowfoot Lightning gritted his teeth as he was launched into the mud, sliding on his but, mud spraying everwhere. Including on him. The stallion looked like he was dipped into a vat of paint, and he spluttered, spitting out the wonderful dirt that had gotten into his mouth. And.. he was right next to the flutter. There were several opportunities available, one being getting more of the wing. He could see it, and he was about to reach for it, but then she started struggling. He needed it. Snarling, the stallion made a wild grasp towards the mare's other wing, not sure if he would snap his teeth shut on mud and air, or the delicate wing.
Shariea Highflyer whinnied loudly as she saw him just in time to move her body out of the way of those horrable teeth! Her good wing moved swiftly out of the way of his mouth as she struggled and kicked in his direction. The stubborn flutter used the only deffence she had at her disposal, her small hooves. "get away from me!" she yelled at him, scooting away in the mud.
Little did the flutter know that she was scooting closer to the edge of an embankment, in her haste to get away from the stallion she ended up scooting right up to the edge. "Get away.." she glared at him, and as her body shifted once more, she fell. The grass was slick as she rolled down the hillside, narrowly missing trees as she rolled and slid. At last it seemed she came to a stop near the rivers edge. She looked around for a moment dazed.
