Physical Description: Having always been on the larger - broader - side for his age, Roanzo is strong chested, but pudgy (he really likes food and alcohol, hush). Amongst all the tall people that seem to flock to Weyrs, he seems rather average at 6'4". He has light-brown hair and green eyes and a notable scar on his chest if you catch him without a shirt on.
Personality: If Roanzo is set at a problem, he is going to bring the biggest proverbial hammer he can find and go all out on the problem - within the confines of a rather honorable set of rules. While he won't sling mud or drag others into the dirt, he is known to be quite excessive. He has no sense of subtlety -- and absolutely thinks he's being reasonable about it.
Roanzo doesn't seem to care too much about his reputation, though this isn't to say he's absolutely dragging it through the mud. He just doesn't allow it to hold him back when it comes to getting things done. Let people think he is rude if a larger problem than himself has been solved for it. What is one man to the watching eyes of Pern? His boldness is only pushed ever forward by his fearlessness, which has no problem taking him into a Wher's Den of trouble. Pain does not deter him. He will press forward in any cause he is dedicated to - his family, his home, Pern as a whole. There is no temptation or disaster strong enough to move him.
Which isn't always a good thing. Roanzo has no problems butting heads with those who share different viewpoints than him. More than once has he been pushed to a physical altercation because he not just unwavering - he is stubbornly so. He will plant his feet and by Faranth, nothing can move his heart or his mind once it is set. Which means getting him from letting something go is near impossible.

History: E’zo of High Reaches could easily say that beyond his home and his blue dragon, there was one thing that he coveted to obsession - she was a courtesan by name of Roanya. Roanya clearly had some fondness for the bluerider, as not even a year from their first dalliance their first son would be born. Roanzo was a large boy from the start and was the apple of both parents’ eyes.
Two turns later, a brother was born. The two, while thick as thieves, would also endlessly fight - never aggressively, but Roanzo had strong opinions, and his little brother had little problem with telling him where to shove his ego. When Roanzo was 6, another sibling would join the fray - and oh, would their little sister be the leader of their little clan. Not because she deserved it, per say, but because she demanded it.
She’d be their mother’s clear favorite - something Roanzo gritted his teeth enviously about no matter how much E’zo tried his best to explain that it was simply Roanya being a woman able to dote on her daughter in a way she couldn’t either of her sons. Still, he didn’t begrudge either of them for it.
When Roanzo turned 11, he left home to join the Smithcraft hall, finding his large size, even for his age, suited the hardworking craft well. He wouldn’t be becoming a dragonrider, after all, and he certainly wasn’t handsome or friendly enough to consider most of what the Courtesan hall would have offered him. His turns working near forges and with heavy tools would sculpt the boy into a strong young man by the time he emerged a proper Journeyman.
Within the first turn of leaving another child would join their family and upon coming home Roanzo would have several turns of catching up to do with his youngest brother. Fortunately, the boy would take to him well enough. While he’d not return to the family home, instead working to find a place to practice his craft to provide for himself, Roanzo would not be able to stray far from his family.
So he initially hesitated when a Western Searchrider came for him, offering him a future that would perhaps look more like his father’s. His first-born-brother was also Searched, however, and it tipped the scales for him to go.
Roanzo hadn’t been sure what to expect from touching the eggs, all with their own opinions of what he was. One egg in particular seemed to take a shine to him - I was wondering when you’d come over to see me. He’d think about that egg every time someone talked about the Touching and even when they didn’t, all the way up to the hatching.
That egg would hatch into a large, but delicate, green who brushed every piece of shell off of her before she finally began her walk to the boys, giving some of them glances that Roanzo could feel his heart twisting up enviously about. Get over here and be mine, already, he thought to himself - earning an orange eyed look from the green who now b-lined for him. You made me wait, so it is only fair you now have to wait for me! she huffed, spreading her frail wings in some mimicry of a threat display. “I did wait for you! Do you not think you’ve consumed every thought I could have about your entire clutch?” he argued back.
Slowly, her wings would close and she’d sit back, oranges giving way to green, then blue, then purple, and then every color in between. Of course I did - you knew as well as I did that you could only be with your Meitoth.
How his father had any mind to think about things besides his dragon, Roanzo didn’t know. Meitoth easily became the center of his world and even after he graduated from what training Western Weyr offered at the time his visits home would just serve to remind him that the world hadn’t had color before he saw them in her eyes.
The return of Thread would bring a small upheaval to his family- while Roanya would stay in their home at Western Hold, their father would relocate to Western Weyr. In the face of their great enemy, however, Roanzo and Meitoth will never flinch.
Other: Roanzo has 2 brothers and a sister. I have left them all unnamed/their histories somewhat vague for their future players.
