Physical Description: Amahno is just shy of 6’ tall, with short black hair and amber eyes. He’s not particular broad in the shoulders, though he is strong for his size - mostly a side effect of growing up with physical labor.
Personality: Amahno is not a gloomy person by any stretch of the imagination, though a certain part of that is due to his own efforts to present himself. Genuinely, he enjoys being happy and seeing things on the brighter side and mostly prefers to see this in other people as well. He is, however, prone to a sullen moodiness that he is quick to mask away and guard like a firelizard that somehow managed to steal the tastiest treat from the kitchen. He can go from very social to very withdrawn at the drop of a hat and trying to pry into it simply makes him deny it all the more. If he were on earth, it would be compared to being like a cat - and perhaps a feline handler of Pern may make a similar connection.
Amahno has a hard time being serious and everything he does is tinted with a hint of trouble. Whether it is his tone of voice or the way he phrases things, it is hard to not suspect that he is up to something and be taken by surprise when it doesn’t happen. Or worry something did happen and you haven’t discovered what yet. While he is not intentionally malicious, he can and will step over the line and hurt feelings without realizing he’s going too far. Your business is Amahno’s business, and while he often genuinely wants to help...he’s more than ready to dig in to find out what you’re on about even if you don’t want to know and he’ll keep prying the harder he is pushed away.
Fortunately for all of his troublemaking, he is a very good-natured individual, never leaning into purposeful malice. He’d never set anybody up to be hurt by his shenanigans - confused, don’t abuse - and is in fact very sensitive to the crossing of that line, quick to lay out his own heart with apologies and amends to fix everything. More than reactive, though, Amahno is a helper and does want to see things through to the better. Amahno likes tackling problems - as long as they’re not him. Whether they’re smaller, like a lost item or how to bridge a broken friendship, or larger, stretching limited resources, he’s ready to see what he can do to. He does tend to chew on one problem at a time, especially bigger ones, almost as though he thinks if he doesn’t give each their due time, he’ll just run out and have nothing to do.
While not often, and definitely not on purpose, Amahno’s behaviour simply lines up in an uncomfortable way - too little light behind his eyes, a little too long of a stare, a little too pushy. His friendly nature may make him stand a little too close, and if he thinks he’s being helpful he’ll talk just a little too softly. If called out on it he’ll simply laugh it off, which for many...just doesn’t help.

History: Amahno’s father was a fisher. His grandfather was a fisher. Fishing went back so many generations in his family, that by the time the boy could walk, he was toddling after his old man, doing what work a boy his size could do - which for the longest time was ‘stand here and hold this and don’t touch anything. Though things most certainly did get touched, if only out of childlike rebellion and the glee that came with getting told off, only to run back and do it again. By the time he was 11, he knew his way around a boat and how to handle each part of it like the back of his hand - or at much of the hand as he could see. His father would see him off to the Fishercraft hall to see him learn more than could be taught just at home.
He’d come back after 5 years and get right back on the boat his father had taken him off of, loaded with the knowledge he needed to cause trouble without putting anybody in danger. Danger would come without him - Threadfall. While his family would be fine, the event would uproot normalcy. Ahamno’s humor would be needed more than before to keep things from feeling grim - and he’d push down his other feelings to make sure it was ready and willing as often as possible.
Search came shortly after his 19th Nameday, and he’d accept it, coming to Western Weyr to stand for his first time before a rather exciting clutch - though any clutch would have been exciting for a boy who’d never been so close to dragons. While none would take to him, he was determined to keep at it.
