Auror seemed far more content once Sectumsempra Impressed, though she was still circling, watching Crucio, and the other dragons on the sands with idle worry. Her eyes whirled red and yellow, tail whipping back and forth as she traced her steps carefully through the sands. Not yet...It wasn't time.

-----------

Gryffindor was almost showing off now that there was less trouble on the sands. He trotted through boys and girls alike, twining through them gracefully, making sure they saw. Hey, he knew he looked good, and when there wasn't something BAD going on, why not enjoy the calm?

Though the egg made no move at all, was utterly still, the faintest web of cracks suddenly wrapped across the surface of Forbidden Forest. In a breath the shell split into a million fingernail-sized pieces...though not a single one slipped out of place or fell away yet.

And the egg remained entirely still.

Tizenia’s eyes flitted over Rahmi’s face. They were glossy, and her hair had stuck to one side of her face. Rahmi was kind... He had not been the person she had expected to rush to her side, if ever something had happened. She wetted her lips with the tip of her tongue. Where was her sister? “Rahmi?” She managed. But she couldn’t finish her request. Everything hurt. She could feel the sticky, once warm liquid, on her and she knew it was hers. Was she going to die? Why were two relative strangers helping her? She didn’t know these boys. Why wasn’t her sister with her?

“Just don’t move, okay?” She heard one of the boys instruct her. “My sister’s a healer. I don’t have any training, but I used to listen to her recite for memorization. Until someone who knows what they’re doing comes over, we’re your best shot.”

But...Where was Misty? Tizenia felt small, tired, and scared all at once. She needed Misty. If she was dying, there were things she needed to tell her sister. “Misty?”

“One of her friends got hurt too. She’s busy helping him.” It was the loudmouth boy again. Oh, but she supposed he did give her information. Of course Misty was busy. She would have come before...

Tizzy thinks she’s dying. Shocky and bloody, but look, responsive. Ish.

Veltanna looked at Dhawsn in surprise. She had fully expected him to be upset with her. Then she smiled. “Veltanna.” Her smile turned a little sheepish as she added, “sorry about earlier. That was more heated than intended.” She waited to see what he had to say, still expecting sharp words of censure. They had come when she tried to help. It only made sense that they would come when she had been rude.

Rahmi | He/Him | HRW

Perking up a little at noticing Tizenia’s eyes fluttering open, he gave an excited, anxious chuckle, sniffling and wiping his nose on his shoulder before speaking. “Tizzy, hey!” She was still looking so very rough but her eyes were open and she was at least trying to speak. That was hopeful progress in his book. “We’re going to get you taken care of. We’re here for you.” With the extra help to keep pressure on and such, Rahmi felt like he could free up a hand. Keeping one hand to maintain the cloth pressing to her injuries, he wiped a sticky, bloody hand across his robe to try to clean it off as much as possible.

After letting Ionan and the other boy speak, he gently took her hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze.”Squeeze my hand if you need to, Tizzy, or just hold on to it. You’re gonna be okay.” He knew that she’d prefer if her sister had come to her side but he was going to do his damnedest to try to comfort and be there for her until one of the healers could get to her.

In the lull, Rahmi took moment to look around. Auror was keeping an eye on her siblings for the time being; and Gryffindor was making his rounds to see and be seen. He blinked at the odd sight of the Forbidden Forest egg. That wasn’t something you saw every day.

In spite of the blood that marred his hide, Go The Distance remained diligent - as did it appear his cousins. There were many roaming the sands now, and no matter how he reached out, none of them needed him as he needed to be needed. That need burned more than the wounds inflicted by Crucio, and it was clear.

He needed to find them. The one he needed. When Sectum Sempra called a young woman to her - hers and her only - that need became more urgent. Eyes whirling, he first looked.....to his mother and blue father. I...I am going now! they the words of a child fully intending to come back for dinner after playtime with a good friend. But first.....The injured bronze cautiously turned to start pacing through the boys, creeling sadly at all of those who had been hurt despite his best attempts. All this hurt.

I tried... Any judgement was too much for him, and the previously tall and proud posture seemed to droop as the dragon moved through the boys. He pulled back, then quickly began to move through the carnage left by his cousins, all but throwing himself into Damon's arms. I couldn't protect them all, my Damon, but please! Please believe in your Izdubath and next time we will rise to it together! And hopefully those whirling rainbow eyes would be worth all of the blood he'd just gotten on the boy's robes.

Kinyegele

Fisher's reassurance was answered with a mute nod, but tears were not easy to turn off and Kinye couldn't help it. They were meant to be feeling, but the dragons were not? Had that bronze cared at all about that boy who it had killed? Would it ever think about him ever again? Her hands continued to shake and after a moment she leaned her head into Fisher to openly sob.

She was just made of so much softness, and softness was so easily cut by sharp objects.

Kahbrohm

And in some sort of twisted mirror of his own desire, that bronze which had hatched from Go The Distance's egg, that one that Dehka had such hopes for, had also gone off to impress - to someone else. He could already see that boy spinning it with such shining awe that it made his insides want to curl up. With a passing glance towards where he'd last seen Dehka, though-

It was likely alarming how quickly Kahbrohm was suddenly on the move, stalking across the sands with steps far quicker than even an excited rush to talk to N'ori would have had. There was blood all over one side of Dehka's face - as though Kahbrohm had forgotten his own chest was ripped open. He grabbed his brother's shoulder roughly, jerking him from the boy he was looking over with an absolutely dark expression.

"Why are you not having a healer look at...this!" he motioned with his free hand to the blood all over the one side of Dehka's face - not that the boy could see it all that well.

Zelaya
As Lucius had said, once the dragonets began to find their riders, things began to settle down. The vicious green found a rider in Iathe—Zelaya approved, the other woman would surely be able to channel that ferocity for the good of the Weyr—and the brave bronze that'd helped defend the candidates went too. So, thankfully, did the bronze that had killed the one candidate. Zelaya felt for the girl, the sister left behind, but could not blame the dragonet. They had all known the risks, after all.

"Still so many left," they noted, spotting a number of other eggs beginning to look near hatching. "Perhaps the next batch will be more...well received." If they'd been a bolder person they might have dared to glare at those around them. Fear and anger would only incite more aggression, if you asked them. Instead they focused on thinking positive, encouraging thoughts to those hatchlings and eggs on the sands. Come on! You can do it! We're all right here for you.

Finnisa
The green came forward, and Finnisa braced...only to have Iathe move to meet the green, the clear rainbow whirl of impression lighting the dragon's eyes. "What...really?" Her furrowed brow gave way to a bemused (if flummoxed) smile, posture relaxing instantly. "Well, she sure made an impression on everyone else here too, s'pose. Congrats, babe...!" She winked teasingly, but wasn't shocked when the other woman all but ignored her. Shards, she'd be distracted too!

As the pair departed, she turned to Zyamel with another shrug. "Just us now, I guess. Clearly you're some sort of good luck charm. Or maybe next it'll be your turn? Either way, hope y'doin't mind if I just...hang out here." Her gaze traveled to the other green that'd been ripping people up. "Not quite settled yet...heart still going like a startled wherry."

Meztli
Oh boy, oh boy. Ruunan looked ready to panic or break down, and though Meztli was no mindhealer, they were sympathetic enough. "Hey man, it's fine! See, just a scratch!" They hiked the hem of their robe to show the wound—slick with blood and gritty with sand, but superficial. Probably. They really didn't know about wounds either, but spookin' the kid more felt the wrong way to go. "And look, a few of the...rougher ones...have gone and impressed already. Thing's will be right as rain in no time, okay?" They reached out a hand to clap it reassuringly against Ruunan's arm as he finished wrapping their leg, giving a gentle tug upwards.

"It's no one's fault, yeah? Not yours or anyone's. Well. Whomever set them off to start with, maybe, but even that's...not too bad." It was bad that someone had died, of course, but...they didn't need to point that out. "Look, things are all going back to normal, huh? Few seem to have picked...Though the egg I liked most is still sleeping." They pointed towards one of them in Fianth's clutch. "It asked me about cake of all things..." They were rambling, certainly, but it was better than panicking, right?

Theo
Up above Theo made no effort to hide the tears that had streaked down his face. At some point he'd gathered his quill, replaced his pages, and begun working again. It was not the first time he'd seen a death at a hatching...but it certainly always did bring a somber tone to the affair. As much joy as there would be today, there would also always be that spark of pain. In time, it would make the tale of the day all more wondrous, he felt...but it similarly felt wrong to be too happy or excited at that moment.

"Thank you, Hes...it...please, let me know that the rest are well. If you can." One life was enough to lose, wasn't it? Unthinking, unseeing as he worked around the teardrops dripping onto the sheaf of parchment, his hand reached out. Found one of Sylfie's where it was curled about Regory (who himself was keening faintly), and gently, ever so gently, wrapped around hers. Just for a moment. A squeeze to reassure and comfort. And then drew back, because even that seemed wrong, poorly timed in the moment, for all that he wanted it to linger.

FISHER

Um. Was there where she was supposed to hug her or something? Fisher turned to look at anyone and everyone around her for confirmation as to what to do because she had no idea. Should she just...wing it?

Which she ended up doing, with Fisher pulling Kinye into as much of a rough but kind hug she could muster. Her dads had always hugged her, more or less, but the teen wasn't much of a hugger on her own personal level. Hugs had always been something that happened before a body slam or some other form of awful stuff.

Fisher was vowing not to body slam Kinye.

Siv

Oh, that pretty bronze Impressed. That was good to see! Siv hummed, watching the dragonet find His, and settled to start relaxing again. There were still a lot of eggs and dragons to tend to watching, and Siv hummed. Forbidden Forest's egg looked rather pretty cracked so finely. Did the dragonet inside have a stragety? FASCINATING.

On one level, Siv was eager to get back to her Barracks, to make notes of what she'd watched-- notes and approximations. After all, there was just SO MUCH she needed to note for herself -- ideas to maybe avoid being bitten, on things not to do around dragonets -- sure she was a candidate but this was just her first Hatching. She didn't think anybody expected her to Impress, so why not turn it into an educational experience? When she finished she could turn around and offer herself a plan for the next time, whenever the golds rose again, so she was primed to be smart, safe, and efficient.

....Efficiency, admittedly, was moot -- she WAS just standing around in thin sandfals and white robes that -- she looked herself over -- were yes, getting somewhat dirty from faceplanting in sand once too often.

Ugh.

His instinct to being grabbed was to twitch, groaning as he tried to shift, but he was being dragged off the sands. Healers? He thought groggily, pain pulsing through him with every heartbeat. No. Her. She'd come back? His thoughts felt thick, like they'd been slathered in syrup. "No one's gonna want the robes," He slurred, even managing a chortle that broke off into a wet cough. No caprine had ever managed to hurt him this badly, but at least his arm was still attached.

Fortunately, Talis' burden would be relieved soon as worried healers came quickly begin treating the boy. The deepest wounds needed to be staunched, though they dared not give him fellis in case his dragonet was possibly out on the sands. Numbweed would have to do for now, though Lauthisen groaned in pain when the deep lacerations on his back and shoulder were touched.

Jemaselle & Whren

Jemi paused, watching them interact and lift a brow, keeping her low whistle to herself. "What an b***h." She said dryly. Rude little get wasn't he? "You alright there Karone?"

Whren hummed slightly. "Friends of yours? I take it?" He could read that there was something and that considering the dragon that had impressed... it could be a variety of things of why. The mood for one. The hatching had killed someone and camped on the body. They weren't suppose to judge but tempers were high. Emotions where high. Choices had to be made. They weren't always right ones to make though.

Kinye

Fisher was so big and warm, especially when she wasn't body-slamming Kinye. "'msorry..." she wheezed out into the larger woman, she didn't mean to keep sobbing, but this was all far more dramatic than she'd been prepared for, and she was but a little Kinye. "'msorry..." she heaved again - several more times in fact, but every time it seemed she'd calmed, another sharp inhale threatened to send her weeping again.

"It's all just....real sad..." she finally managed to get out a whole sentence without sobbing in the middle of it. It was nice. Fisher was nice.

Well, a soft, drawling voice remarked, That got rather dull rather quickly. Slytherin yawned, rolling over onto his other side so that he could better observe the Candidates. Why don't some of you come a little closer so that I may look at you. Come now, one at a time... single file. The little bronze waited, eyes a mischievous green-blue, pleased as punch with himself.

Death Eater stirred, making a squeak from within the egg. Why was it so hard to escape?

Ionan wanted to go single file to see the bronze, but he didn’t want to leave Tizenia. He couldn’t. If he stopped putting pressure on her wounds, he figured she’d die. She’d only just regained consciousness as it was!

“I can’t!” He said. “Neither can Rahmi. You come here.”

It probably wasn’t worth it, anyway. The dragon was lazy, and nothing was worth another person’s life.

He spotted a healer he recognized, and started to wave Maddeck over. Someone who knew what they were doing. A proper healer! “She needs help!” He called. “She’s awake!”

Ionan is talking to you, Slyth!
