"You've been on break for four years now. I'd think you're well-rested." Adrian said with a small chuckle.

"I've been working hard. Parenting is hard. Single Parenting and dealing with trials and lawsuits and meetings about parents being concerned with your kid being with their kids and all that political bullshit. I haven't stopped training a single day. Too afraid to. Just because I'm not fighting physically anymore doesn't mean I'm not still fighting." Amaya murmured, now wrapping her arms under her head.

"I can't cut all the political crap, but I can at least say you've got me now." Adrian said finding her hand and holding it softly. "You've got someone else to protect you and Calista now so you don't have to train as much, and you're not a single parent anymore." he said giving her a warm smile. "Like you said, you can take a break now. Try to act like it a little more." he said giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before he got up to tend to dinner.

Sighing, Amaya nodded once Adrian left and slowly left her seat, going out to the family room to watch a movie with Calista. She could take a small break and it seemed like Adrian had everything under control for the moment.

"First time actually cooking in four years, but I'd like to think it turned out pretty well. Dinner's ready!" Adrian said as he began bringing things out to the table.

"You cook?" Calista asked as she walked in and took her seat, looking up at Adrian with a confused look.
"Adrian cook a lot when you were little, otherwise I would've kept making you hot dogs and mac and cheese." Amaya told her, also coming in now, giving Adrian a peck on the cheek before taking her seat. "It looks delicious. And I didn't have to cook it." She said with a small grin. "Thanks Adrian."

"I told you, you're on break. Time to start acting like it while I pick up the slack." Adrian said returning the peck on the cheek before taking his seat.

Amaya smiled, now just eating her dinner quietly while she watched Calista practically inhale her own.

"So you remember me, just not my cooking?" Adrian asked with an amused smile as he ate. "Good thing I'm not a chef or I'd take offense to that." he said with a small chuckle.

"I remember mac and cheese and playing with your horns." Calista said with a shrug, scarfing down more food soon after. "I dunno, I was three." She mumbled.

"I suppose that is a valid excuse. I guess I should be glad I decided to keep the extra appendages or you might not have recognized me without the horns."

"Probably not." Calista said with a smile. To her, people that weren't mutates didn't matter too much to her. At this point, she was so used to being around mutates that she found regular people to be rather boring.

"Ow...That stung a little..." Adrian muttered. She once asked if they'd be getting married, and yet he apparently only mattered if he had horns.

Sighing as she watched the exchange between the two. It was obvious that Calista had hurt Adrian's feelings a bit, but in all fairness, kids didn't really remember stuff from when they were three. "Calista, that wasn't very nice." She muttered, looking over to the girl.
Calista looked back at Amaya with a confused face. She couldn't figure out what she had said, but she just shrugged again, looking back over to Adrian. "Sorry Adrian." She murmured, now turning back to her dinner.

"Aw, you do have an excuse after all. You were three and I've been out of the picture for four years. I can't expect too much." Adrian said brightening up a bit as he ruffled her hair.
