Fortunately they got lost and had to stop and ask for directions therefore letting the pursuers gain on them.

Unfortunately, the persuers car broke down and they had to spend the night at an Inn allowing the bad guys to get away.

Fortunately, the car was fixed by morning and the peruser was able to track the bad guys down.
