Calista smiled and then got up, bouncing away from the table.
Amaya just groaned, running a hand through hair. "Sorry." She murmured to Adrian, a little embarrassed by her daughter's attitude.

"Not your fault, and again, she was three. I guess I'd just hoped to be remembered for more than the horns." Adrian said as he started to clean up the empty dishes.

"Well, horns were a big deal to her then. And they were the easiest way for me to describe you." Amaya said as she got up and helped him.

"Ah, so it's all your fault then." Adrian joked with a grin.

"It was the easiest way to remind her of you." Amaya said with a small shrug. Once the dishes were all cleaned, she sighed, leaning on the counter now.

"Hopefully she'll fine something else to remember me by other than horns. I can only imagine her pointing at every mutate with horns on the street and asking if it was me." Adrian said with a small chuckle at the thought as he joined her at the counter.

"Nah, I included your wings in the description as well." Amaya said with a wink.

"Oh, that makes all the difference." Adrian said rolling his eyes with a smile. "It'd just be nice if was remembered for something besides my mutant traits."

"Well I remember you as the guy that saved my life." Amaya said quietly, looking up at him now with a small smile.

"I wish. All I did was whine and complain most of the time." Adrian said rubbing his nose sheepishly. "Usually after getting horribly maimed in my previous fight."

"Well if you hadn't of shown up and been so pathetic, I would've given up." Amaya told him with a shrug. It was the truth after all. She was very close to just giving up by the time Adrian showed up, but he lit a fire under her and forced her to keep moving.

"You still had Calista. I'm sure common sense would've kicked in eventually to not die and look after her. I refuse to believe you really would have allowed yourself to die and leave her to Sikes." Adrian said, still not quite getting out of the habit of saying the name with disgust.

"I'm not so sure..." She murmured, just staring at her hands now as she stood there quietly. Going back to that place in her mind was painful...heartbreaking...so many things she didn't want to feel or remember.

"I only regret not killing the guy when I had the chance...Prison's too good for him and the rest of those assholes..." Adrian muttered, his eyes finding their way down to his own clawed hands as he clenched his fists at the memory of having Sikes in his hands before being brought down by the shock collar. He released his grip with a sigh though when he realized the conversation was taking a depressing turn. "I'm going to go take care of my mess now before Calista thinks I'm molting." he said as he walked off for their room.

Only listening in silence, Amaya nodded to what Adrian said. Once he left, she gave a half hearted chuckle, remembering earlier now. At least Calista seemed busy with her toys and her 'friends', otherwise they might've had an uncomfortable discussion.
