Ash to the face once more. Perhaps a dip in the lake after fall, to rid all this nasty ash across his face...

roll five: The thread is thick and coming down fast. Unlike the lower wings, you don't have to chase this Thread around -- it's just about everywhere you turn! This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. [+1 Flame Length]
Spotting a heavy rain of Thread ahead, M'llin and Pravdath burst back into action, turning the silvery strands to ash in quick succession. Even so, the blue's heart wasn't in it, his injuries from before sore and stiff, and he couldn't truly enjoy the fact that he was doing so from a greater distance than he could normally manage.

He'd already ached - Meigth and N'ori always pushed themselves a little harder than they should have, after all. But they'd agreed they'd see this Fall through and had elected to not return to the bowl even after a few good hits. Meigth had been feeling good. N'ori was confident his dragon knew his own limits and wouldn't have forced too far past them.
But they'd been caught by surprise when flames came for them, first sending the pair screaming with pain Between as though the cold could have done anything to soothe their aching flesh. N'ori had been confident this wouldn't set them back. For Meigth who had taken too many painful hits in a short amount if time it was enough.
They emerged from Between and immediately the bronze dropped.

Niobet and Aedeth -- flying to catch N'ori and Meigth...
Too many dragons were falling out of the sky around them. Calling this Fall rough was an understatement, and then some. Aedeth did her best to position herself carefully under the falling bronze...

Your gold flies high, ready to save their fallen wingmate. She positions herself well, with the dragon managing to land comfortably upon her back. Though the adrenaline is still racing through both of you, there's also excitement and ride. You're practically an expert at this catching thing, already! Back to the Weyr with you!
...and caught him securely, making sure that he would not slide from her back before turning and heading back to the Weyr.

You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4
1. This tangles up on your dragon's tail and foot. You immediately blink Between, with the injury hurting your dragon, but not enough to slow you down. Light Damage - 2 HP
2. This hits your dragon's face and eye! Your beast screeches in pain, and hops immediately back to the Weyr. Moderate Damage -5 HP It's up to you on how much face damage it does. If their eye is okay, they can return to their Wing. If there's eye damage, or possible worse damage than listed, have them land to get checked by a healer.
3. The Threadfall hits your leg and your dragon's shoulder! It burns in deep, but your cries of pain can't be heard in the cold of Between. Moderate Damage: -6 HP
4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.
Ouch. That smarted... and it seemed that the Fall had become even more dangerous.

Dhremorath let out a roar of challenge as Thread dared to menace his wingmates. In the next breath, he flamed it from the sky, feeling somewhat inspired by his sire's words before.

As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on. If this is the third time you roll this and you haven't returned to the Weyr for attention your wings cramp up, and you find yourself going down! The wind is just too much, and the pain too great. You pushed yourself too hard, and now you're really in trouble! Post this!
Again, Dhremorath strained his wings, and it smarted, but was not enough to fell him.

This time when they blinked between, it was in panic and pain. Although they had both tried to be careful, it was dark and Z'von couldn't see clearly. ... Perhaps that was why they reappeared directly into a large sheet of Thread.
They fell. It was, perhaps, a minor miracle that kept the riding straps from snapping as the bronzerider slipped off of his dragon's back, unconscious and unable to respond. Dhremorath could not stop his own fall, mind blank with pain... and slipping into unconsciousness himself. Mo-

Queen's Wing Weyrwoman Zheria of gold Eveleth HP: 51 Status Effect: XP: Target Accuracy: 6 Flame Length: 6 General Stamina: 8 General Agility:6 Between Accuracy: 6 Pain Resilience: 9 Instinct: 6 Luck: 6
This was as bad a fall as Zheria had ever witnessed. Tight lipped, the woman kept tabs on the injured, the dying, and the dead. She could do nothing but focus on what the Weyr could do--for wind and Thread was not something that could be controlled. But controlling is all Zheria knew, and to not have any ability to keep those of the Weyr from falling was beyond frustrating.
Drills were well and good, but nature had its own way of dealing blow after blow to the fighters. Dragons could twist and turn and wheel and burn but they also could be torn apart, blown away, and eaten alive. The sun could hide away, and leave them to darkness... And all the Weyr could do was struggle on.
They would make it through, she would ensure that. She would make sure D'mon drilled them; she would make sure the tithes were plentiful; and she would ensure the Holders remembered and knew the blood and ichor they spilled for them, or her name wasn't Zheria.
Queen after queen rose high, catching those whose fell. Every time one went up, Zheria could only hope that would be the last... and every time, so far, she was mistaken. This time, it was Eveleth who bugled warning. Zheria had half a moment of surprise, before the queen was up.
It was damned hard to see in the darkness--but she knew Eveleth's thoughts, and her fears. Z'von. Dhremorath. Knuckles white against her riding straps, all she could do was urge her queen up--and hope that they made the catch. She would not ask the state of his injuries, would not wonder... She would tuck that away for later--but so long as Eveleth didn't keen out his name, so long as the dragons didn't mourn, there was hope.
He would be fine, there was no question about that. She was a woman who got what she wanted, after all.
Thankfully, though he landed hard, Eveleth was a large dragon. She adjusted her position, ensured he would remain tucked upon her back--before disappearing immediately Between.
[Back to the Weyrbowl with ye, where they will be dropped off, and the healers shall swarm them. She'll stay just long enough to make sure they're in good hands before returning.]

The winds whipped and pulled and messed with the muscles that had been freshly checked. It didn't matter though, as the brown winced in pain the call came up. It seemed like such a short time had passed since they'd come back up into their wing again and both sighed as they popped back to the Bowl as the fall ended.
