"Neither was I, but it is a pleasant surprise, isn't it?" Ophelia was rather relieved to see that Kaistern took the news so well. She reciprocated the hug as tightly as she could, starting to feel perhaps a little giddy. After they had their moment, though, she found herself curious as to what Kaistern's bad news was. "Now...what did you want to tell me?"

"Oh, that...? Well, now it's slipped my mind, but it wasn't terribly important anyway." Kaistern lied with a smile, keeping his thoughts on their future child. He'd been under a lot of stress, and it was just a one time fluke. Why worry her when he wasn't sure?

"Very well." Ophelia trusted Kaistern enough not to press the issue. She offered him a small peck on the cheek before saying, "I won't be neglecting my duties any further if I can help it, so don't stress yourself out too much anymore...okay?"

"Alright, but don't feel like you have to push yourself on my account. I've dealt with the political matters and what not on my own for years, so please take it easy if you feel the need." Kaistern told her. "It doesn't matter what you say to me, I'm always going to worry about you." he said with a warm smile. "Especially when my future daughter or son is involved."

"Perhaps, but I've never seen you more tense than you have been for the last week, excluding when it had something to do with other you." Ophelia was not assuming (or correctly guessing) a thing. She just saw how worried and upset that Kaistern had been, and the thought that she couldn't help it truly bothered her. "You aren't the only one who has the right to worry. All I'm asking is that you don't take every burden on yourself, especially not when there's something I can do to help with it."

"I know, I know...Without you I'd probably plunge head first into my work as the only soul alive willing to fix the world's many problems." Kaistern said with a small chuckle. "Being married to my moral chain helps more than you realize."

"I...well..." Ophelia's face was quick to take on a bright shade of red. "I'm happy to hear that I'm not useless to you. Still, I promise to do everything in my power to help you. I want you to always remember that. You'll never truly be alone." Not in the ways that matter, anyway.

"I know. And I'm grateful for that." Kaistern said giving her a soft kiss on the cheek. "So how many servants do you think Bianca's harrassed by now and will be glad to have her gone?" he asked with a chuckle. The way she came on to him, he had a hunch that several members of the staff must have gotten the same treatment at some point or another and likely didn't say anything because of her relation to the queen.

"Enough to cost me nearly a quarter of my personal funds in temporary don't-kill-the-b***h raises." Ophelia admitted with somewhat of an embarassed giggle. It was funny how such an attractive girl could be so obnoxious as to be rejected by even the most adventurous and lustful of the servants. (To be fair, it would be quite improper anyway, regardless of how much Bianca came onto them.) "I probably should have been more specific those several times I warned you about Bianca before. Just an 'avoid her at all costs' without reasons given isn't going to help any. I'll be sure not to make that mistake again, starting with Helena." Ophelia let out a faint sigh. "Helena isn't nearly as awful, though she's got quite the blabbermouth. Don't give her much to talk about and by no means should you discuss sensitive topics near her. Everyone from here to the furthest borders of the neighbouring kingdoms would know every word of it if you did. Five times over, in fact."

"So if anything can be blown out of proportion, don't bring it up around her. Duly noted. With sisters like them, I'm rather amazed you turned out as nice as you did." Kaistern said with a little chuckle.

"Exactly." Ophelia gave a small nod, pleased to see that Kaistern was finally going to listen to her in this regard. "Oh, but I didn't turn out very nice at all." At least she was self-aware. "I'm civil with people, yes, but only as much as I need to be. Growing up with the family I've had has taught me that everyone is out for themselves and is not to be trusted." After giving Kaistern a quick kiss she added in, "You are the sole exception to that rule." It was true, though. She didn't make any friends amongst the other politicians that Kaistern knew because they shunned her, did not befriend any fellow humans because they would abuse or manipulate her, and only bothered to be friendly with the servants and guards because it was in her own personal interest to do so. Even then, she could shoot any of them on the spot with a clear conscience. The only reason why she didn't was because it would be a waste and Kaistern would be upset if she started murdering people around him.

"Well, I hope being queen will help change that a bit. You're the second most powerful person in this land, and an entire country's worth of people looks up to you now." Kaistern said holding her hands. "As their rulers, they've no choice to put their faith in us and trust that we'll take care of them. If you don't trust your own people, then they can't trust you."

How ironic, for Ophelia believed the exact opposite. She believed it best to prove oneself as a competent leader that was worthy of both love and fear. In that, trust never enters the equation, for giving trust freely would quite easilly leave an opening for one's enemies to take advantage of. However, being feared and being hated are not the same thing, and Ophelia knew that the latter must be avoided at all costs. She would probably never stop believing so, but was not about to say that to Kaistern. "I will...try, if you so insist." She would continue being civil, but was not about to trust anyone who hadn't earned her trust.

"You're still new to the throne, you'll learn." Kaistern said giving her a kiss on the forehead. "I won't claim to know how you grew up, but things are different here. Just give it some time; you'll be a fine queen before you know it. Then you'll see just how much our people love you."

"Perhaps." Ophelia offered him a broad smile nevertheless, at least happy to know that he wasn't nearly as tense as he had been. Completely changing the subject, she kissed him once more before saying, "I love you~" Ophelia found herself telling Kaistern that rather often, didn't she?
