"That will be your jobs, cadets." He said in response. "We understand that an ambush could always happen, hence why you'll be covering us from here. This is the last place our troops have not fully searched; unless the person fled town this is where, we think, the controllers of these vampires will be found."

With that he straightened his beret a bit and readied his gun before opening the door, which lead to a waiting room, simply decorated with vases and flowers and a few wooden couches in which to lounge. "You guys have potential. Guard this area here for us and we should be fine."

Gaiathi nodded and moved further alone the outer wall on the opposite side, scanning the area for possible assault points. She noted a few shadowy areas just beyond a nearby building where the foliage provided decent coverage. She was not sure if anyone was hidden in there, but she kept a wary eye there to be safe.

"Everyone keep your eyes open and be ready!"

The soldiers nodded, confident in the abilities of the examination group in guarding their back. A moment after their entry, some voices could be heard.

"W... What are you...!" One voice from inside was heard. Gunshots soon followed, along with screams and vicious howls. Eventually, the place silenced, except for the sound of heavy breath.

Inside the chamber stood a single solitary altar to the back, broken, though it didn't seem as if all the pieces were there. A faded circle, that seemed to be engraved onto the stone floor, could still be seen; occasionally it could be seen, blinking a deep, sad blue, as if flickering out. Candelabras stood everywhere in the room, of various heights, holding long white candles that seemed to burn of blue-white flame. In the center of the room stood a woman, hunched over, growling and trembling. Her white locks covered her extremely pale face, eyes that were blue flashing haphazardly red for moments as she trembled. Her blue cloak and white skirt were tattered, her stockings and buckled shoes dirtied with dust, blood, and gunpowder. The floor in front of her laid the bodies of the five-soldier squad, bleeding, the blood flowing from their still bodies into the engraved circle, the occasional flashes of blue making a forlorn purple.

Gaiathi lunged forward and grabbed Tsuki's shoulder. "Don't be a fool. There are better ways...watch."

Gaiathi muttered a few soft words and thrust an arm over Tsuki's other shoulder sending a gale of wind racing past the two women into the room with a roar. Gaiathi began to aim for the hunched over woman in the room and focused on pushing her out of the circle.

Mauser sighed and pulled his face away from the door. "We're cadets, they were fully trained soldiers armed to the teeth. Who thinks we should run?"

Gaiathi sighed and remover her hand from Tsuki's shoulder, but did not lower the wind. She had a feeling that would cause further trouble now that it seemed they would opt to flee. First she wants a decoy, a distraction so we can fight. Now she doesn't like it! No pleasing this one, is there?

Gaiathi began wondering if she could at least collapse the building before they ran if that was the way things had to be. That was when the woman addressed them, cast her ruin, and then the door slammed shut. Gaiathi blinked in mild surprise, dropping her wind attack. That's when she had a dark thought chill her.

"We were transported by a mage. It's a long run home, and I don't want to risk any of these things following me back." Gaiathi took her gaze off the woman inside long enough to look at each of her teammates questioningly. "Do you think fleeing is going to change anything now? I'd at least like to try to stop that thing...vampire...whatever she is. Before it gets worse."
