(Squee! Hi. :3)
Eric sipped the drink idly, feeling the color in his face come back slowly as he did. He seemed to have missed the taste of alcohol, having abstained from it during all of the studying he had been doing during the past few weeks. Of course he knew studying and getting good test scores would be a significant benefit in many aspects of life, but at the same time it was very draining as well. The last two months had just been bad, he thought as he took another sip. The alcohol felt warming and helped take away the cruelties of the world around him. Like how he could have let Shayna into the arms of another man. He remembered feeling like he wasn't good enough, he was drunk, he was insecure, he was too badly in love with her ... The drink was empty.
Thanks, he had said to Paul when he offered. There was the given that he wouldn't get rambunctiously drunk, but as long as he didn't have to limit himself to watered-down drinks things would be okay. Even so, he would still wait a few minutes before ordering another drink. He had to pay, first of all, and Mission Cheer-up-Eric would be bringing the others down if it lasted much longer. One can't throw a pity party forever. Maybe he should just stop thinking for once and be able to let loose, as his friends would be doing and were encouraging him to do.
Eric pulled his wallet out of his pocket and paid the bartender for the drink, but when he asked if Eric wanted another he shook his head. Maybe getting drunk was what he needed to let go of the past, but for now Eric still wasn't sure if he wanted to take that kind of risk.

Since Axel was still unconscious, Eden decided to stay with him when Shayna went outside. She did wonder briefly what Shayna might be up to outside, and her eyes stayed on the door even as she ordered a second vodka. The green-eyed hawk had noticed that her friend had been wobbly, from both drink and the sight of her ex. The voice began to echo again, and she sipped at her drink in some attempt to quiet it. Drink would quiet the voice, but turn up her temper. She was frustrated with the other group, who were now arriving en masse. This was supposed to be their night to show Shayna that the past was the past and she could enjoy herself again, and yet they had only ended up devastating her. Could the others at least have the common courtesy of finding their own place to go? Of course, Eden couldn't start an altercation if her friend was still unconscious beside her in the booth. But it didn't mean she didn't want to.
She remembered their tutoring, sure. She'd tried to get into college but had dropped out after only one semester, since even with the help of the academic group she had failed her classes. Not even one English essay, Algebra sheet, or graph had been turned in and because of that her grades had obviously plummeted. Not like she cared. She had never liked school anyway.
