「PERSONALITY」
Nevermore is on the edge of an inevitable mental breakdown. He is tense and sullen, often exuding a heavy aura as he moves. He has two major personalities he shows; the one he allows outsiders to see and his true self, which is always at the mercy of his sister and her whims. At the core, he's a pony who just wants to escape and have a normal life, but there's no hope for that and Nevermore is finally accepting it.
To others, Nevermore is quiet and haunting. He rarely speaks, often on the move to follow an order given to him by his sister. He does not offer much of himself, instead dodging attempts to get close and coldly sidestepping those who reach out. He does not care for his needs or others at face value. While he wishes to have a chance to actually foster relationships, Nevermore deliberately avoids others and refuses to commit. He knows better -- anyone close to him is likely to get hurt. Instead, he uses sentences that cut to the core or a cold indifference to chase others away. To outsiders, he is untouchable.
To his sister, however, he is weak. His true nature is shattered, consumed in a panic that evolves as he progresses through life. He's losing control of everything. He's becoming a monster. He's aware of this and desperately claws at the voices in his head bewitching him. The problem lays in his loyalty and honestly the fact he was essentially brainwashed as a child. Told time and time again his worth revolved around his ability to protect his sister, Nevermore doesn't have a being he feels is his own. He belongs to his sister. His breath and blood is not his. And yet the things she makes him do is driving him insane. He is not a cruel man by heart. He never wanted to hurt anyone, but he cannot disobey Twisted Rose.
Without her, he's nothing.
Without her, he's a failure.
He's hurt many ponies. Twisted Rose has ordered him to kill or dispose of a body and he has done so, growing number by the second. Nevermore is a doctor, and his true desire is to heal others, but he can't. He contradicts himself. He suffers and dissolves with each murder. Twisted Rose rules him with guilt, reminding him of the promise his father forced upon him and often using a false view of fragility to ensure Nevermore keeps repeating what he does for her.
Truly, he wants to die. He wants to rid his flesh and become nothing. He doesn't think he deserves another chance. He believes he should just rot in the ground, never to return.
He suffers from clinical depression and PTSD.

█ || Twisted Rose ⋯ He loves and fears her. She has ruined his life, but didn't he allow her to? He doesn't know anymore.

█ || Love ⋯ He knows if he ever fell in-love he'd ruin their life. But his heart wants that special pony.

█ || Touch ⋯ While he denies himself any intimacy with others, Nevermore longs for someone to hold.
█ || Fireworks ⋯ He remembers the first time he saw them fondly.

「BIOGRAPHY」
█ || Basket ⋯
There were two families, sworn together by promise. One family prominently produced females, and those born to that family were of darker inclination. This family struggled with maintaining their sanity; many grew into those who were unable to understand love properly and were emotionally unstable. The other family made loyal ponies who would do anything for the ones they cared for. Long ago, a pony from each family grew up together in the same town. One was weaker than the other and struggled throughout their life. The other was stronger, and swore to protect them.
This became a tradition among the families, although the families never crossed over. Not until Nevermore and Twisted Rose's parents. Sickly Sweet, from the female-dominated family, and Thorny Raven from the protective side, fell in-love. Sickly Sweet maintained her sanity up until her middle years. She gave birth to three children in order; Nevermore, Requiem, and Twisted Rose. Upon the birth of her first child she began to deteriorate; growing aggressive and lashing out at her husband. Nevermore was born during the beginning of the process.

Nevermore was the eldest, and he was expected to become what his father wanted. He was not alone when young; Requiem was born two years after him. Both Requiem and Nevermore were trained in how to protect others. Both boys lacked a childhood. Nevermore was told countless times he had to be there for his mother. That his purpose was to protect her as she fell apart. He was nothing without her, and his father made sure he knew it.
In his preteen years his sister Twisted Rose was born. Life grew harder. His father took both sons and practically beat into them that they were her aides. They would cherish her and give everything to both her and his mother. His father would abandon him each time Nevermore dared to step away from the norm. Each time he took an interest he was demeaned and knocked down several pegs. Once, he was locked outside during winter when he didn't arrive to his sisters crying fast enough. Slowly, his sense of self was stripped.
Back then, Twisted Rose was sweet on her brother. She often asked him to play with her and frequently snuggled up to Nevermore. Despite how he lost himself, Nevermore was happy with his sister. He truly loved her. He wanted to protect her.
Requiem ended up vanishing right when the two became young teenagers. He just abruptly left in the night. Nevermore didn't mourn him; he viewed it as a betrayal. Perhaps to himself for leaving him in that situation, or perhaps to his family -- Nevermore never sorted those feelings out. He didn't have time to. Shortly after, his mother jumped off a bridge. His father fell into despair and ended up ending his life after it became too much. To Thorny Raven, he had failed. There was no point in continuing. The last thing he said to Nevermore was "protect your sister."
So he did.
Nevermore raised his younger sister after that point. His sister adored him still. She'd follow him about and look at him with wide, adoring eyes. He never felt so loved. She became his purpose more than ever. She was pure. She was good.
And then he came home to find her sitting among the pieces of a dead bird. She stared at the creature, having dragged it upstairs. She was fascinated, but Nevermore shook it off as her being a child. Death was interesting. As time went on he noticed neighborhood pets vanishing, but he continued with his life. He went to become a doctor and was happy. He lived for his sister.

█ || Adult ⋯
Nevermore returned home one day to find a dead body. The recent boyfriend of Twisted Rose, in fact. Her first boyfriend. She sat there, blood dripping down her hooves. Nevermore would never forget the vacant smile on her face, nor would he forget how he automatically went to comfort her. That was the day it all ended -- his life was over. It was hers, now.
He didn't turn her in. How could he? He was raised to be a part of her. To protect her. His family was gone. All he had was her. The memories he had of her were of kinder days. Days where she smiled up at him and ran to him when he came home. He disposed of the body and believed Twisted Rose when she claimed her boyfriend tried to assault her. Of course he did.
He eventually forgot how many bodies he had to dispose of. As if a switch was hit Twisted Rose had changed. Her laughter held a cruel tint. Her eyes were cold. She murdered without hesitation. Lovers became bodies. Friends became graves. She took and took and didn't stop. She consumed him. Each time Nevermore tried to pull back and escape she'd cry, pleading for him to protect her like he always had. Eventually, he stopped fighting. He watched as she slowly blossomed into a woman he feared. Someone who breathed poison and smelled of blood.
She was beautiful and toxic. Twisted Rose captured the hearts of many and murdered them. When she set up her underground prison it was, without question, known he'd support her. Nevermore stood by her side, protecting the only pony he knew as family.
His life has completely crumbled. He's slowly going insane. He can't fight past what his father broke into him and he can't turn away from his rose. His sanity is growing thinner by the day. What was once a warm and caring man has become a cold and morbid shell. Nevermore almost wishes she'd order him to end himself. He can't see any other way out of this prison.
