As she worked her way back into the formation she'd been trained on, the green felt something pull, something painful. Maybe her wing had come down wrong, maybe a gust had caught her just right. It didn't matter, it still hurt and she could the gears turning in Liaven's head as he worked out exactly what muscle she had pulled. His mind keeping an eye on it lest it happen again. One more like that and he'd take her down and she didn't want that at all!

Between being worried about the muscle she might have pulled, definitely pulled, and how much thread was all around her, Sarbath managed to miss a clump and sent a rather firm demand back at her boy as a result. Sheepish.

Just because they were new to this didn't give them any excuse to go and miss thread chunks the way that they were, but there went another. Sarbath's eyes turned red for a moment but she winged herself up and on with a gentle touch.

Compared to the bite of thread, biting his own tongue wasn't quite so bad. Still, the pain was not insignificant, and the blue dragon snorted against it, shaking his head and trying to refocus.

I'm feeling good about this Fall, Huarangith told R'bin, perhaps paradoxically, given how others in their wing were faring. Don't you?
R'bin grunted something that might have been assent or might simply have been acknowledgement of Huarangith's words. He knew the brown would sense his response and interpret it. He was not going to spare energy on unnecessary speech. Up here Thread was thick and he wanted to finish the Fall with both himself and Huarangith whole and hale, so he could not allow himself to become distracted by his dragon's apparent optimism.
Cluster at three meters! Thirty right, sixty up! he called, spotting a roiling silver tangle in the location he indicated. It was within their flame's range, and although another rider pair might also overlap, by calling it out to his dragon, R'bin ensured that Huarangith would flame at it. They both felt a warm glow of satisfaction watching the deadly enemy burn to ash.

Guilt still heavy on her mind, Tiernoth hadn't been mindful of where her tongue had been as she chewed a mouthful of firestone. She crunched down on her tongue, whining as pain flared from her mouth.

No sooner had they vanquished that last cluster of thread then the wind increased, challenging even Huarangith's strength as the brown worked to hold his position in formation.
R'bin was grateful for his harnesses, which kept him anchored to Huarangith, and also for his fur-lined riding leathers. Even with the furry interiors, R'bin could feel the wind slicing through him. He swore as the wind discovered the space where his helmet met the high collar of his jacket and chilled the sweat beading there beneath his curls.
Thread blowing at you from your two hundred! another dragon called dto Huarangith. Flaming now!
R'bin felt the chill of between for several moments, only to emerge in formation once more with some already-cooling ash blowing a few feet in front of his face. A moment before, his head might have been there.
Thanks! he heard Huarangith call to the pair who had spotted the Thread and charred it before it could shear across them from behind.

This morning was not being particularly kind to them. Tiernoth's bitten tongue didn't compare to being blown out of formation. With her aching muscles and tired mind, she was finding it too hard to care for how lethargic she was. Would this fall ever end?
Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, but your dragon is just too tired to care. The wind is too much! Moderate Damage -5HP Your dragon also now suffers Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect, Guilt, Bitten Tongue, etc.) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. The only exception is if you get a status that cures Fatigue or your Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls a status cancelling roll.)

Thinking they were in the clear, Huarangith and R'bin continued their flight, and though Huarangith's earlier efforts to maintain the proper height were no longer necessary, the wind having died down somewhat, the brown continued to pump his wings with extra power as though he had not yet realized that. Since it didn't seem to be tiring the dragon, R'bin didn't tell him to ease up right away.
Unfortunately, that meant that they were drifting upward and out of alignment with the rest of their wing, and were too high up for anyone to spot the large swath of Thread that came at them from the side until it was too late.
Drop! Drop! R'bin called too late.
Huarangith turned his head toward the oncoming Thread and opened his mouth to breathe flame at it while he attempted to pivot in the air to decrease the exposed surface area of his and R'bin's bodies, but the angle was wrong and the brown was caught with a searing wave of pain as the Thread made contact with his skin. It was only luck that had his wings on an upstroke, and thus shielding R'bin from the worst of the silvery agony.
The pair leapt between immediately, letting the cold briefly soothe their raw flesh before returning to the fray.

Above! Watch out! The pair, even for how much they hurt, were quick to snap Between to avoid a large clump of thread too close to flame away. However, their coordinates were a touch off, and they reappeared.. to be right in the midst of another tangle. The green dragon screamed, for all her aches were suddenly set on fire, barely able to make the trip Between once more to rid them of the fiery strands eating at her neck, burrowing into her rider's leg and arm.
But the return was hazy, and Tiernoth's eyes were so dim, so white..
I need.. rest... Can't... No, no, NO Tiernoth. Stay awake sweetheart. Stay-- Zi'aso was cut off as her eyes slipped shut, their bond going hush quiet, and the pair began to plummet.
A Queen Is Needed! Help Catch Me!
Blasted all! As you jump Between to avoid a clump of Thread, the winds change, and when you appear from the icey depths, it's right into a major sheet of Thread! Heavy Damage: -8 HP! They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).
Their short-lived breather had been interrupted by a keen that Vedmath joined, a casualty in one of the wings below theirs, and a hard reminder, as always, that it could have been any one of them. That one day it might be. It also had Vedmath paying keen attention to his surroundings, and he rolled out of the way of some strands that gusted towards them.

Inevitably, the bronze need more firestone to chew, and Dezerac tossed it to him...only for Vedmath to bite down on his tongue instead of on the firestone. While it was nothing compared to being scored, it hurt, and he winced and gave the mental equivalent of a whine.
