2. A clump of Thread falls right before you! Unfortunately, the wind pushes you and the Thread away from one another. With determination, you fight the wind, trying valiantly to get to the great enemy! You hop Between, hoping to get closer, and flame the Threads that threaten to fall through! Roll a D4 to see if you successfully Between!
4. Failure! You overshoot, and miss your target completely. Instead, it falls on one of your fellow wingmates, and they scream in pain as they disappear to the sanctuary of Between. [Take 3 turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -5 HP. Any successful bonuses or saves by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]

Wuth and Tamami emerged from Between ready to fight. The fierce blue charged after a bit of Thread that was just too far for his flame to reach, but in their eagerness they completely overshot the clump. Wuth tried to warn his wingmate but was unsuccessful and the pair watched as the other rider and their dragon took a full hit. Letting out a bellow of rage, Wuth returned to formation with guild heavy on his hearts. He should have been able to get that!

If a green or blue you find yourself struggling against the wind. The wind is powerful this high up, and you have to struggle to keep in your airspace. Unfortunately, a strong gust blows through, and you find yourself blown right into a clump of Thread! Moderate Damage -4 HP

The wind was proving troublesome for some of their wingmates, and they were no exception. It blew them up, propelled by Kinitarth’s sails to rise up, up, up… up into a clump of thread that blistered against Kinitarth’s back. The blue creeled, snapping into the safety of between before reappearing closer to his wing.

A gust of wind caught Wuth and Tamami off guard, blowing them far out of formation. Wuth struggled to return to his position, exhaustion pushing the guilt from his mind. Upon his back Tamami scowled at how terrible they already felt. She'd have to keep an eye on that to make sure nothing too bad happened, else they'd have to head back to visit the healers.

Tamami grit her teeth as Wuth fought again against the wind, straining to keep in position. It was difficult when he was already exhausted but they managed to climb back into ranks. She could feel her heart beating in tandem with Wuth's and it felt as if it was going to climb right out of her chest with how hard it was pounding.

20. Your dragon asks for a few more pieces of firestone to chew. Unfortunately, they wind up chomping down on their tongue instead of their stone! This is going to distract your dragon for the next two rolls. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 2 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]

As they flew Wuth grit his teeth and asked for more firestone to chew. Tamami got a decent piece from the bag and tossed it to Wuth who chomped down on it - and on his tongue. He tasted ichor but didn't care, chewing through the pain.

14. The thread is thick and coming down fast. Unlike the lower wings, you don't have to chase this Thread around -- it's just about everywhere you turn! This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. +1 Flame Length

Wuth continued to chew the firestone as Thread came down at an alarming rate, but it gave both Wuth and Tamami a surge of energy, enough that Wuth was able to flame down everything within reach. Once the path was cleared he gave a trumpet of victory, his energy returning with the success.

Zamistia knew Nanuth had gotten the well wishes from Yulaniath before they had gotten the call. She had given her brown the coordinates so they blinked up to the high altitude, with the rest of the wing. It seemed the wind was strong, Nanuth having to keep as steady as he could. She kept her eyes open for any Thread coming their way. That is when the little red head noticed M'yk and Dobrokoth were about to have some trouble with Thread. That was something she refused to let happen, she couldn't let her wingmates get hurt.

Nanuth...Misty thought to him.

Don't worry, I see it. Hold on tight, let's give them some help,Nanuth thought back, as he made a spectacular move, to get into proper position. Then sent a blazing furnace of fire right at the clump, reducing it to ash.

After helping out a wingmate, Zamistia was back to keeping her eyes peeled for anymore trouble. Which she picked up on pretty quickly, when she noticed clump of Thread. She had Nanuth pop between, so they could reappear out of harm's way. At least that was her intention, however a scream of pain issued from her lips and a mental one from Nanuth as they reappeared...right into a sheet of Thread.

Back..between,Misty managed to think to him quickly, which was exactly what he did. When they came back, her arm left leg and his side were in pain.

Well, we will have to do better,Nanuth growled out into her head. He wasn't mad at her, he was mad at Thread for hurting both of them. He was glad they had managed to get the Thread off, but he knew that would leave a mark.

Their triumphant return to the wing wasn’t quite what was expected, not when a large gust of wind immediately drew the pair back as soon as they reappeared. Though they were lucky and there was no thread behind them, Pellereth’s wings ached and muscles burned from being twisted about.

Yet he managed to right himself.. Eventually, working to get back into formation. But the lagging on his wings was noticeable, the soft exhaustion of his mind and body. The scare had worn him out, and the wind hadn’t helped any.

Zamistia knew both she and Nanuth were hurting, but they also had a job to do. Thread was everywhere up here and Pern was counting on them to keep them safe. She did, however, allow herself a groan of pain, hoping that the pain would subside...eventually. She tried to put her focus on their task though, which is when she spotted a patch of Thread straight ahead.

This is for you hurting myself and my rider!Nanuth hissed out, using his anger about how they both hurt to flame down the patch. He gave a snort of satisfaction as it became nothing but ash.

Argathi was steady. Genkuroth was serene. They had trained for many Turns- risen to this position of leadership through sheer, unyielding tenacity. She watched the Wing assembled in the bowl, her mind on the ins and outs of her breath. Flying into the dark would be difficult.

Marshall yourself. She warned Genkuroth, certain he would attempt at least one foolish thing this Fall.

Not a problem, wrinkle-face. Hey, when are you going to start smiling?

When the Red Star winks its last at us.

The dragon cackle-laughed, which might have been a vaguely terrifying sound to those not accustomed to Genkuroth’s eccentricities.

Still, as they rose as one with their wingmates, Argathi couldn’t help the surge of pride and power that swept through her and her beloved brown bondmate.

There, Thread! Do you see it?

Genkuroth surged forwards, blinking Between as the wind pushed him back, returning to open his maw to flame- and yet the wind shifted so suddenly, and the deadly tendrils curled around his wing. Instinct drove him Between with a roar, and Argathi’s steely mind returned them to the warm present, amongst wingmates. Steady. She eased the pain with an uncharacteristically warm touch, and he roared in protest again.
