Alihath hurt, but both rider and dragon did their best to focus on the fight. The pain in her face stung every time she belched forth flame, but L'tia knew she had little interest in dousing her face with numbweed. The discomfort was a reminder of why she fought--and why they had to remain ever viligent.

The wind this high up was something else though, and the delicate creature found it difficult to combat. Easy now, L'tia warned as a strong gust threatened to push them out of their air-space.

Unfortunately, something pulled as the green fought against the wind--and while she said something, L'tia knew it was a twinge that would likely need looking after.

Out of one gust and into another--the wind was relentless this afternoon, and poor Alihath was getting thoroughly buffeted. Try as the delicate creature tried, she found herself once again at its mercy--and no amount of fight seemed to keep her in position.

Worse, the twinge in her right wingarm had become a full on ache. It hurt, her face hurt, and it was clear to L'tia that they needed to be looked at. Though Alihath didn't want to admit it, she was struggling--and if they had any intention of keeping up the fight or helping their Wing, they needed to get looked at first.

Let the Wingleader know we're headed back to the Bowl. We'll be back soon as we can.

Though Alihath creeled in defeat, she did as she was bade, before taking them back home.

One, two, three--

The silence and cold of Between was broken by gusts of wind and sudden and immediate pain. Alihath squealed even as L'tia cried out in surprise. The had jumped back into formation only to find themselves in a sheet of Thread.

The green threw herself back Between, easing the worst of the pain.

What horrendous luck!

I'm sorry, darling, I'm sorry! The green rider fretted, fearing the worst. They could not seem to catch a break--and Thread had only just begun! How were they to make it throgh their double-shift?

By the time they returned, the green was able to flame down some of the patch--but L'tia could tell she was hurting. Her face was numb, but her neck and chest were significantly scored.

So much for focus.

Unfortunately, the green pair was completely in over their head. Perhaps it was simply because of the wind, or fighting so high up; perhaps it was a bout of bad luck. Either way, Alihath was having a very bad day.

Thankfully, she was spared catastrophe by the sweet honk of brown Aleyath. It was enough warning to allow her to veer out of harm's way, and she sent a grateful, albeit pained, croon back.

Wingleader Roll Hour 1 Round 2 - Fa'nin of bronze ???

6-23. There's a lot of chaos going on. Focusing on fighting Thread and getting updates with what's happening to your Wing leads to a moments inattentiveness. If a Wingleader you lead your entire wing out of formation, which puts them right into worsening wind shear! Though you are quick to right this mistake, the damage is done. Quote 3 Wingmates and have them lose -5 HP apiece! If a Wingsecond you wind up missing your Wingleaders command to change formation. Instead, as you come out of Between flaming, you find yourself flaming down one of your wingmates instead! Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP!

A patch falls down ahead. You dive down, flaming as you go, and both rider and dragon are pleased to watch it turn into harmless ash. This is how it gets done!

Being hit because of poor orders had soured both dragon and rider's moods - but Karinne had resolved to move past that for the time being. They could huff and fight about it later. Hrimnith was grumpy, but flaming down some Thread only served to bolster his mood. Karinne, similarly, was enjoying their small success.

You notice that one of your wingmates is in trouble. Look out! Your dragon screams warning, and you watch as they successfully dodge catastrophe. Quote a Wingmate who took damage to Nullify Damage for that post! The quoted wingmate can remove that damage, unless they have already returned to the Weyr for healing or are already playing out a KO'd scenario.

Hrimnith noticed it first - sending off warning to his wingmate as quickly as he could. Alihath - I'd find clear air if I were you, he stated with firm urgency, sending along his rider's own vision of a safe spot to jump to for extra assistance.

As you're fighting Thread, you see your nearby wingmate in danger. You immediately blink between, falling out of formation, but hoping to save them! Roll a D4.

It was a clean jump - Karinne had noticed the dragon in dangerous skies and Hrimnith had responded to her thoughts immediately. Clear air and good luck to land right where she wanted them to be did the rest of the job.

You appear from Between and find the space you were hoping would be clear now has a large sheet of Thread being guested towards it. You've only a moment to decide where to go, and both you and your dragon pick a spot and hop Between in an attempt to avoid Thread. Roll a D4 and take whatever damage or XP you're given!

1: You critically fail! You either appear between directly in the clump of Thread and take Major Damage for -8 HP

Perhaps the last jump had gone too well, because while the first accidental jump hadn't been the worst thing ever, Karinne hadn't visualized the next jump as cleanly as she could have. Or she hadn't noticed the airspace was as dangerous as it was once they got there.

It didn't matter when Thread twined both dragon and rider, sending them screaming back Between to a lower, clearer altitude.

Hrimnith! Do we need to go back to the bowl? Karinne asked, already certain the answer to that question was 'yes'.

Though the pain was intense, Alihath continued the fight. Though she was not, perhaps, at her peak she was still capable of weaving, diving, and avoiding patches. Flying in the middle altitudes was just as dangerous as the higher altitudes--but it did allow the green to show off some of her agility.
