Despite their commitment to training, a lot of the time H'win and Suuth failed to work perfectly in sync. The human's thoughts had a tendency to consume him, and it was Suuth's habit in turn to try to calm his rider at the expense of his own attention. Today, however, they seemed split in a perfect way, their focus encompassing a greater area than it would have had they both been concentrating on the same thing. It was why they were able to go Between at the last possible moment, missing only a small portion of the Thread that now threatened those below.

Today was going well. Unfortunately, that almost certainly meant the tides were about to turn.

2. As you're flaming down some Thread, a gust of wind suddenly pushes the remaining cloud back at you and your dragon. You've no choice but to blink Between to avoid it, and appear higher up, missing the clump. The rest of the thread falls down towards the lower altitude. [+1 Between Accuracy]

The blue rider saw another teammate in danger. There was no time -- in a flash, H'sad had a picture of where they needed to be to help them out -- but the wind changed. And by the time they came out of Between, they found themselves in the clump of Thread.

Both rider and dragon cried out in pain, before the blue disappeared once more....

One...

Two...

Three...

They re-appeared a few breaths later, ichor staining the bright blue hide, and H'sad holding his his arms and stomach. While his gear took the brunt of the damage, he knew from the blood oozing, he'd need that checked out.

You okay, Cinonth? He almost hissed, feeling pain from his dragon as well as his own.

The blue gave a small creel. His own side, stomach, tail, and wing sails looked frayed; ichor freely bleed through the wound, but neither rider nor dragon felt it was time to return to the Weyr.

Not yet, at least.

Though they were shaken up.... they were still prepared to fight. Though ichor dripped off Cinonth, streaking him with green, and blood started staining parts of H'sad's riding gear -- they carried on. Perhaps a bit slower, perhaps a bit quieter.... but they knew heir shift was almost over.

They weren't leaving, not yet. Pern needed them.

Switching down to the middle altitude was always a nice breather, while not the same as the low altitude, it was at least a breather compared to high. Gareth was glad for this as it allowed him time to glide and rest his wings for a moment before having to get back into the fight.

A'dras had tossed Gareth a piece of Firestone and the dragon caught it, chewing it easily only to bite down hard on his tongue. Neither man nor dragon hissed in pain, though ichor did drip down out of Gareth's mouth. He had to focus but, it would be a little hard to do that with the pain, at least until he faded away.

While there were times Tarenoth wished he was smaller and more agile, he was actually quite happy with his status. While he wasn't as graceful and as quick he was strong and could maintain for quite a while. 'We're looking sharp up here, hopefully we can keep this up.' T'nor said to him with a smile of relief that things were going alright so far.

Although Lireloth and Thella both were eager to return, they knew that seeing the Healers was important. They were seen to and taken care of, their wounds patched up and numbed, bandages wrapped around the worst of their wounds to keep them from bleeding freely. It didn't take too long before they were given the all-clear to return, both of them revitalized and rejuvenated.

"Thank you!" Thella called as she and Lireloth took to the skies again, jumping Between with a powerful roar from the dragon and a whoop from the human.

As flames burst forth from Tarenoths mouth they ended up getting dusted by some remaining ash from some recently ashed thread and it stung at both their faces and caused some superficial burning, nothing serious though. The duo quickly relocated and continued about their fight.

3. Flaming down Thread, you find yourself getting blown right into the cloud of ash! It stings and burns, but you're pretty sure no Thread was alive in the cloud. They re-emerged onto the scene of chaos that was high altitude and were greeted with Thread brushing over Thella's leg. It barely touched her but it still stung, but it whipped off into the wind created by Lireloth's wings. Still high off the rejuvenating visit to the Weyr, she brushed it off and pressed on, eager to get back and fight.

Olliah watched as the rider was dragged away by the healers. Fianth made sure that the small green was safely out of the water, and within the healers tender care, before she too trudged back to shore. The wounds that she saw, the ichor that now stained Fianth's back.... Olliah made a note to check on them both when Threadfall was finished. Though she wondered if they might be better needed here, to aid, she knew that was not the case.

It is a cruel thing, isn't it? Fianth mourned, her eyes a grey-white, even as she looked away from Tarmath, and back to the other dragon riders wounded and injured. The Fall wasn't even half-over.

"It's a bad Fall.... but we do Pern a disservice lingering. Come, love. We will return here soon."

Reaching out to the unconscious rider and dragon, Fianth sent one last wave of calm, of love, of hope. She also reached out to Hesperith and Sylfie. Do not fear.... I will ease your hurts, I will carry your pain with me into Thread, and will return to you as soon as I am able. Fear not, for you are not alone.

With Olliah secured, certain that the healers would tend to rider and dragon, Fianth leaped back into the air. She circled a time or two, allowing the water to fall from her golden form, before she made he leap Between and back to the fray.

Meepfur
Just a little encouragement and comfort from Fianth.
You know Olliah and her will be checking up on Hesperith and Hers after Fall!

Hattaki
Sorry to nab Fianth away. You can bet both Olliah and Fianth will be checking on them post-Fall!!

The winds were hard to fly against but Lireloth held his ground, flaming as he went. A strong gust caught him by surprise and he flared his wings to try to avoid being blown away, but as he did so the muscles of his wings cramped from the strain. Thella felt her stomach get left a few hundred feet up as they dropped a bit and she squeezed her legs against Lireloth's sides. He grimaced but shook off the pain, opening his wings again as they rose to their Wing once again.

"Let's keep an eye on that," Thella murmured to which Lireloth huffed. A little cramp won't slow me down, mine.
