SOUI
Soui had watched the flurry of blows against the egg with a sickening feeling in her stomach, one of both anxiety and terror. Had the baby inside needed to get out that badly, and why not one of the parents stepping in to help? They did of course but only after the blows continued and the little candidate had to look away. That had not been good on her heart, neither had all the bellowing and roaring, but it looked as though the egg was safe and no one was particularly hurt.
With a sigh of relief and thoughts towards, well, nothing, Soui watched as one of the first browns was on the move. She'd heard him call by hadn't taken the steps, more uncertain that she should go towards him. But...him moving, did that mean the sad green from before was okay? Was she going to make it?
----
YURASTAR
Why were people punching an egg?!
----
HAVELI
Eggs only needed broken into for two reasons, and neither reason absolutely appealed to Haveli. She kept herself where she stood, all the while watching the candidates scatter like wherries to feed before the adults.
Deadglows.
-----
FISHER
"It'll be okay, they're not here to hurt anyone...I think. Just wanna check on the egg an' make sure no one hurt it, hittin' it like they were." A hand was placed on Kinye's head and Fisher was starting to believe she might just be getting a little good at this whole comfort thing. Not too hard when her companion was of a good sort anyway.
"How 'bout we get back to looking at those four that just hatched? Pretty blues an' greens we got there."

orri
Oh, good, Dehka was coming over; at least his brother could corral him to get seen by...healers...Had Dehka gotten hurt? Orri couldn't see so well, he had yet to get his glasses back, but he did see the splash of red on both of their robes and grew worried. But they were all being tended to, and once they all got better, they could go grab Soui and see about the Hatching, which was progressing quite happily without them.
One part of Orri was pleased each time a dragon found their match, especially some of the injured. Even Sectumsempra, who had put him in this most awkward of positions, was with Hers, and maybe--maybe whatever other pain she had could be soothed. He couldn't find it within himself to get that mad at the dragonet for attacking him, although shards did it hurt. Didn't Dad have some cool scars, though? Silver lining. But his ear...He tried to reach for it, but the healers had already numbed, cleaned, and bandaged it down. That would explain why some noises were muffled. Huh. Worry about it later, then.
(Another part, one he couldn't give mind or voice to, counted down the eggs as they moved on to Another. One that didn't care that being in that line before Slytherin wouldn't have made a difference. One that watched Go the Distance find someone better.)
Dehka's smile was given a thumbs up, as Orri's own was currently strained. "Thanks for getting him here, Kahbrohm. Nothing too serious, right?" he asked the brothers, a bit louder than necessary thanks to his one good ear. It was a stupid question given that they were at a healer station at all, but, well, he was a bit dazed now and just relieved that things--
--were taking a turn for the worse again.
Despite not being near Fianth, Orri recoiled at the roar, and a healer fussed at him for moving. "Shards," he said, brow furrowed with worry. "This's been some Hatching."

Reya
Reya had heard the request for assistance, although she had not known whence it came. She frowned and glanced at R'bin, who was also frowning as he shoveled the last of his meat on a stick into his mouth with astonishing alacrity. From the searchrider on her right, who had previously been snoring, she heard an acid exclamation of "Idiots!"
"The egg did ask..." she ventured.
"It's a newborn. Not even a newborn, technically, since it's not hatched yet. Who in their right mind would follow instructions from an infant?" the searchrider replied. "Those candidates are going to have the worst time of their lives after this hatching. Their candidatemasters are going to make their lives a torment. And rightly so. That dragonet could've been hurt."
Reya didn't disagree that the candidates had acted foolishly, and hearing it explained with the egg framed as an infant certainly confirmed her opinion. And there was the inescapable and terrible possibility that the dragonet could have been injured. But it didn't change the fact that the egg had asked for assistance. She had clearly heard it, and presumably everyone else had as well.
"It looks like its mother has it in hand now," she replied, watching as the a blue moved threateningly toward the youths on the sands. She didn't envy them the sight, which she was sure was intimidating. It was certainly impressive looking from the stands.
The searchrider, meanwhile, was regarding her with a speculative expression that made her narrow her eyes at him and ask, "What?"
"After the hatching is over, my dragon would like to meet you," he replied.
Reya blinked hard at that, and was about to press for more information when her brother leaned across her and stuck his hand out, wearing one of the extra-charming smiles she remembered him using on people who irritated him. Pretending to misunderstand, she plopped the meat on a roll he'd brought her into his hand and smiled sweetly.
"You can have mine, if you're still hungry. It was really thoughtful of you to bring it, but it's just too early for me to even think of eating." Her tone of voice was so sweet. Clearly she was telling him not to do anything she'd have to be embarrassed by later. R'bin frowned down at his hand, surprised to find food in it instead of another hand, and Reya watched as he made the decision not to say anything and went back to watching the hatching.
Reya spared the searchrider another look just as speculative as his own had been before turning back to see what was happening now.

Siv
Did... Did that girl have a deadglow moment and punch an egg?
Siv looked horrified at the fact smebody punched an egg, not even affronted when the blue father herded them all back -- respecytfully, she allowed herself to be herderd back as well, lookingto the egg, then Fianth, then the egg. The poor creature inside was so SCARED surely, and Siv's mind snapped into her working state. Siv's eyes locked on the egg, and she hummed gently, a lullaby her father used to sing to her that offered her comfort even now, and immediately... She bundled up all of her love and encouragement, sending it to the little egg immediately. She wanted to help -- even wished she had tools on her to help get in, but with the mother so angry at them, she was as sure as the thought 'punching eggs was a poor judgement call' that wasn't.... Going to... Ah,but the mother had claws as sharp as any tool -- teeth as well, but tools....
Siv looked to Fianth again, speaking up in a calm tone, remaining well away, but.... She bowed.
"Perhaps claws might help weaken the shell for when the baby's ready? Your claws are quite sharp -- if you scratch it in enough places, they might find it easier pressing weak points?"
Uta If Siv is allowed to offer a gentle suggestion!

A Coral and Pink egg rocked in the front of the clutch, shell shaking as its resident rather decided it was time to come out! The shell cracked neatly, bright blue-green eyes whirling as the lithe green within stepped from its remains with grace, her tail flicking back and forth. Well! Wasn't this fun!
-----------------------
Toward the front, a sparkling Dark Purple egg shattered in to pieces, dumping a pudgy brown on to the sands, who rolled a good few feet before he sat up, looking around with a kreel of distaste. He shouldn't have come out like that....That wasn't nice.
-------------------
You can Fly! also split, jumping out of the shell from a crack in the top, and all but catapulting himself on to the sands. The lovely Blue seemed to be laughing. Oh, that was a fun joke! Now to go play some more with the people here to see him! He bounded headlong in to the candidates with little to no concern for who he hit, tugging on robes here and there, and even going so far as to pull at sandals. This was a GAME!
--------------------
Friend Like Me split elegantly to reveal a lovely little Green, her body shaking as she gently got the rest of the goop from her pretty hide. This would all be well and good, but she had things to do...people to see now. Where were they.

They.
were.
FREE!!
Another roll sent Firebolt's egg shattering and the baby within bolting straight into the candidates almost before anybody could see how very, very green she was. Utter elation radiated off of her, passing it on easily to any candidates passed, weaving in and out of them. She ran past Jeri, Helane, and Fahn. She ran past Rune and Rhys. She ran past Halvor, and Siv, and Ionan, and Zyanzi, and Zyamel, and Finnisa, and -
Oh no!
She nearly ran right into Uncle Krah! With a small trumpet of alarm, the little green twisted to a halt mere inches from the blue. Now facing the candidates, wings sprawled out to ease her stop a little bit, she was looking more than a little surprised. But after a moment, she delicately flicked her wings and bugled them all a great big Hello!
