Celes attempted to use her character Kanna in an RP with him and he denied her because she was gloomy and not made specifically for that RP. I had to do so much work on her backstory and cutting out major parts and such and then reworking and smoothing it all out to meet his requirements, He says that my character is stereotypical and not original. How can this be if I didn't base her off of anything or anyone and I have spent two years working with this character in every RP I'm in and constantly changing things in her? He tried to tell me I needed to make a completely new character that had never been used before and I said no. I refuse to make a charater, and one with a happy back story at that. I dropped out before it even started and he said that he was going to find someone to replace me. How can he find someone to replavce me when I was playing a character I created? I found that offensive. I'd like to be reffered to as being slightly human, please.
Thing is, I really wanted to be a part of this. However, I am far too attatched to my characters to allow someone else to tell me what to do. My characters do not have happy pasts. Happy pasts lead to Mary Sues. Yes, Kanna does have some happy times in her past, but those were met with terrible ones which prevented her from inventing this vision of a sugar coated world in which she couldn't be hurt. If you like your characters, you have to hurt them. If you never hurt them, character development cannot take place.

You're fast at this, you know? sweatdrop And I was trying to do real first names... would you be adverse to changing the name to Andrea? Since it's pretty close, and all. What's wrong with fantasy names? If that won't work, I'll have to search a while. I don't care much for the name Andrea. Nothing's wrong with them, it's just that Lin started with a real first name, and so I thought that'd be a nice trend. The last names I'm not going to much dicker over (hopefully). sweatdrop Okay. I chose Annika. Real first name, as documented here. You're totally picking a real name that sounds like it's fantasy just to bug me, aren't you? xd Okay, I'll cede; but I've got my eye on you. wink

I wouldn't have decided to try and get someone else if you hadn't dropped out, because there would be no need, Celes. gonk
I gave one push, and immediately you folded and walked away. I wasn't going to press it if you were so sensitive about your character, and I'm still against recurring characters.
I mean, s**t, if you hadn't told me, I would never have known.
EDIT: And so does everything fall out from underneath me, because I wanted some level of synchronicity. Wow. The guild and RP die before they've even begun. I think that's a new record for me.

It has to do with the "handful of marbels" analogy for RPGs. If your hold is too loose, then all the marbles just fall out. If your grip is too tight, then nothing happens. You need to find middle ground where there is an obvious structure, but room for people to play. You, my friend, are gripping your marbles just a little too tightly. @Pny: gonk
