"A cove isn't that big." Joshua shook his head playfully. He could feel the sand now. "Come on." Standing up, he waded the rest of the way, taking care not to come too near Katalina. 'I hope she's alright.' He thought, anxiously glancing at her inert form. 'She'll be fine for another moment or two.' He told himself. Joshua shed his scuba gear on the sand bank and headed up the beach. Upon reaching the camp, he began digging around for his medical supplies.

((OOC: It would suck if sharks were attracted by the blood in the water while my mergirl is still asleep. >.>))
Katalina hardly stirred during all the excitement. The only thing she noted was that the voice had gone, and she was near full restoration. She could awaken soon. But not now. There was still a while to wait.

"True, true" He said, spitting out the water. He walked up the bank and waited for Josh to get back. He gazed at the locket and dog tag. After a while, his gaze shifted to the resting mermaid. He hadn't known that such a creature existed. If mermaids existed, then what else did...He shook his head, getting the water out of his hair.

Joshua shuffled through his few belongings. "There it is!" He muttered. Grabbing the small kit, he made his way back to where Joey waited. Curious as to what the other boy was looking at, Joshua followed his gaze. Somehow, he was unsurprised to see that he was looking at Katalina. "She's really something, isn't she?" He asked, a small smile on his face. Turning his thoughts away from the mermaid, he held out a hand. "Can I see your hand?" Joshua asked.

Joshua tugged the chain out of Joey's hand. "Chain doens't need band-aids." He murmured to himself. He checked over the cut on the hand he held. "Doesn't look too bad." He continued murmuring. "Just needs cleaning and a bandage." Not releasing Joey's hand, Joshua dug out a wound cleaner from the medic kit. He tugged the cap off with his teeth and poured a small amount on the cut.

Realizing that he had left it in his hand, he turned his head and said sheepishly, "Sorry...uh...can i have that back now?"

"Sure." Joshua's voice was slightly distracted as he handed back the necklace. Capping the cleaner, he tucked back into the bag. Another second of digging and he had a small roll of bandage in his hand. This he wound gently around Joey's hand. He sealed the bandage into place. "There." The bandaging was tight, but not so tight that it would cut off circulation. Nor would it fall off from looseness. Joshua released Joey's hand. "All done."

"Thanks" He said, more for handing back the necklace than for wrapping his hand. He stared out at the cove, his mind floating with the sea. What am I going to do now? Where can I go?Joe thought. He looked at the mermaid again and a smile came to his lips. He turned his head again and faced the ocean.

Joshua tilted his head to the side as he saw Joey glance at Katalina and smile. "What're you thinking?" He asked, curious. He wanted to know what other people's reactions were to the mermaid. Joshua had been informed by several people that he was not normal. 'Or,' He thought. 'At least, my obssession for the sea isn't normal.'

"Huh? Oh, me? I was just wondering where I could go once I fix up my boat. I was also thinking how lucky she is" Joe said, indicating towards Katalina. "She gets to live in something so great as the ocean. Plus, she has two great friends like you and him." He indicated Lucian. He stopped talking for a bit, then looked at Joshua. "Tell me truthfully, or don't tell me at all: do you want me to leave, or not?"

Katalina stirred at last, her eyes opening. With a little smile, she surfaced, shaking her hair back out of her face. Full of unaccustomed energy, she streaked across to the shallowest she could go. She gave the three onshore a quick wave before flipping over and racing across to the coral. After going back and forth a few times, she stopped and gave the three a shy grin. "Too much energy," she said apologetically. "I'm not used to sleeping so long."

"It's ok" Joe said with a disarming smile. "It happens to the best of us." Joe grabbed the necklace and put it around his neck. He reached up with his bandaged hand and held it, his head down. Feeling self-conscious, he dropped his hand. "I'm glad you're ok."

Joshua looked intently at Joey for a moment, debating. Sighing, he decided to tell the truth. 'After all, he's already seen them.' "What I want, is to protect this cove." He gestured, taking in Lucian, Katalina, and the cove waters. "I want to protect them and any others that come here. I want this to be a safe haven for all. If you choose to stay, that is the only thing I ask. To keep them safe from anything and everything." He smiled sheepishly. He wans't used to giving speeches like that. "Sorry." He muttered, looking away. Joshua's glance away brought Katalina to his attention. 'She's waking!' He waded over to meet her, grinning at her antics. "Glad you rejoined the land of the living! We were worried for awhile there."

Joe heard Joshua's speech and remained sitting. He stared off into the ocean, staring specifically at the the cove waters that he had always tried to escape. Why do I want to leave? What is there for me here? Then again, why would I want to stay? What is there for me anywhere? He said to himself. He continued to fight with these two ideas in his head for quite a while.
