Lucian stopped singing and smiled down at him. ‘It is a song from my past, from centuries ago…’ He didn’t want to delve too much in it, it wasn’t a story that he wanted to tell.

"Ah, I see." Joe moved his gaze, staring out at sea. His mind drifted with the ocean. He remembered those days...His father pointing out the workings to the ship, his mother helping him learn to swim...The nights where he stared at an open sky on the ocean, anchor in the water...how clear it was as he drifted to sleep from his mother's lullaby. Joe sighed and looked down at the locket in his hands. He opened the locket. In one side were his parents. The other, his best friend.

Lucian tilted Joey’s chin up, ‘I understand that this place holds sadness, but does it not hold happiness too?’ He smoothed back Joey’s hair and smiled down at him.

"It does, but little to none." He conveyed the images of his town to Lucian. It was small. Once his best friend had died on his parents' boat, the whole town blamed their family. They were always shut down. A few days later, they left, and never returned. He remembered. Despite his parents leaving, the town still treated him like dirt. To them, he was nobody, an outcast. "I don't have a place to stay, anyway. The town decided to lynch me, but I got away. And here I am now." He stared at Lucian, no emotion on his face, but sadness in his eyes.

Lucian nodded in understanding. ‘I see…’ He stared at the necklace, his fingers touching Joey’s mother’s picture. Sighing, he knew what he should do…he owed Joey’s mother a lot for her time. Smiling, he remembered when Joey was a baby…she would tell him of her guardian angel. It was almost as if she knew he was watching her. ‘Did your mother ever tell you how you got your name?’ He glanced back up at him.

Katalina watched the two - the sea dragon and the human - bonding. She was saddened by the strange boy's obvious pain, and amused to find herself so. It had been a long time since she'd felt sorrow for people. She turned to Joshua with a little shrug. "They're opening up, I guess."
Since emotional stuff like this always made her feel awkward and embarrassed, she began to move away a little more. If anyone could convince Joey that running away solved nothing, it was Lucian. She was more than willing to stay out of it until the matter was resolved.

Joey didn't feel like talking anymore. He wanted to return to that comfy place in his social shell. He looked down, back to the hole. "No. Not that I remember." He stared pushing the images out of his head, filling the space with the math required to fix the boat and with worrying about what he needed to fix in order for it to be sea worthy. He pulled the necklace away from Lucian and snapped it shut. He tucked it back into his shirt and stood up straight, his face an emotionless mask.

((Eh?! eek There's so much to read! I didn't think it would be busy, Christmas and all....))
Joshua watched Lucian and Joey, a small smile on his face. He knew first hand, how comforting the dragon could be. When he wanted to that was. 'Lucian?' He called mentally. 'Everything alright?' He wanted to make sure that Joey would be okay. 'Tell him, if he needs a place to stay, the my camp is open. Not that there's much there anyways....' It seemed to Joshua that Joey maybe didn't have a place to stay. Confidant that Lucian would alert him to any problems, he ducked under the water. He gave a few kicks, then drifted in the water, letting the currents tug him this way and that.

((OOC: And all the rest of us stayed home at our computers! XD))
Katalina let herself float away from Lucian and Joey, letting the currents carry her wherever they wanted her to go. Sometimes it was pleasant not to have to have somewhere to go. She watched Joshua for a minute or two, then returned her attention to the sea dragon and Joey. It was lovely not to have to think, however temporarily.

((Oh you poor, poor souls. I wish I could join you....))
Joshua cast a glance at Katalina. She seemed absorbed by Lucian and Joey. Shrugging, he kicked again, heading to where fish were known to gather. His eyes lit up when he saw some rabbit fish in the schools. 'Maybe I can get close again.' He thought hopefully. So, he tried to use a little movement as possible. At the sight of him, the school disappeared into the coral. His disappointment showed in every line of his body. Slowly though, they cam back out. Before too long, they were swimming around him. Joshua laughed as he reached out to play with the fish.

((OOC: I love staying at home, TYVM. The airports around here are insane right now.))
Katalina's attention was distracted by laughter. She turned over in the water, glancing around for Joshua. Her eyes landed on him, in the middle of a school of rabbit fish. With a little smile, she drifted over to see them. Rabbit fish were always amusing. And she didn't eat them; they were too bony. There were better fish for dinner - these ones were companions.

((I tend to drive places. No planes for me. They mess with my hearing waaaay too much for comfort.))
Joshua looked up as Katalina neared him. He flashed her a smile. "They came to me!" He was currently elated. The fish were running less and less around him. Gently, he cupped his hands around one of the larger fish. Fish went still as his hands closed over it. Joshua drew back one hand slowly, lightly dragging his fingers over the side of the fish. As soon as it was free, the colorful fish swam away. But it was soon back, swirling in the school around him. Joshua continued laughing as the small fish brushed around him.

Lucian made a pouty face while he was looking at Joey. He glanced over a Joshua and sighed. Joshua was so much easier to communicate with…and he sorta missed him…even though it wasn’t that long he hasn’t spoke to him. Shaking his head slightly he pounced on Joey, pinning him to the sand. “Joey can stay with Lucian…Joey, Joshua and Katalina,” he smiled down at him. His house was positioned half way over the water next to a cliff. It had very easy access to the beautiful sea. Part of it was glass floors so you can see the fish swim beneath. He had lots of rooms, one which lead to his cave on the side of the cliff, the cave that no one is allowed into.

Rosalina watched the two. She slipped the jewelry back into her pocket and walked over to Joey and Lucian. "You were that boy from town? My uncle is the head of my village which is not far from your town. My parents heard of you, they argued for your sake." she said softly.

((OOC: I tend to use airplanes. We live so far away from anywhere else that driving to the nearest decent-sized city takes up most of a day. If you don't stop, that is. Plus, I love flying.))
Katalina was pleased by Joshua's happiness. "See, he's not so scary, is he?" she asked one of the fish at random, scooping it into her hands. Although a few fish branched off to visit the mermaid, she moved in towards Joshua so that the school could visit them both without splitting up. Flopping over in the water and letting some of the smaller fish weave through her hair, she asked, "So, are we having fun yet?"
