History: Unlike most children Phala was not raised by his mother. Instead his mother feared him and the rest of his siblings so they were left in the capable hooves of other herd members. Knowing that he wasn't wanted by his mother or father left him confused and his unusual fangs and spikes did not help him. As he grew larger he took to spending more time in the mountains guarding a cave that he claims has some beast caged inside. To help fight off the cold he stole a pelt from a hunters teepee to wear over his shoulders not knowing that this is the same thing his father does.

While he still views himself as an outcast his sister's position as the head of the herd has lead Phala to live a bit closer to the central herd lands so he can watch his sister.

Personality: Phala finds himself torn between wanting to be close to others and wanting to avoid them entirely. He has a good heart if people were to give him a chance to show it but he fears that they will react like his mother did upon seeing him. He normally greets people with some form of aggression but with time he will set that aside. He is a lot like a guard dog.

History: As a child she had always shown interest in the girly things her mother adored, silks, gold jewelry, rare gems, aromatic flowers and perfumes. Far from a fighter at the time her father sent her to train figuring it would either crush her mentally and physically or make her strong. The first week was hard for her. Things were not like life with her family. She didn’t have her choice of food or a warm blanket to lie under during the cold winter nights. On top of that the boys tormented her for being small, unwanted at home and above all else just because she was a girl.

Things changed quickly. The longer she stayed with the boys the tougher she became. Feeling that she had something to prove to everyone she trained harder in everything that she was presented with. And while she could not match the strength of her peers they couldn’t best her in speed or smarts. Even with her preference to the ground she could outpace the boys. Additionally she developed a bit of an attitude to better deal with the boys.

By the time training was complete the stand outs were presented with saddles to accommodate a human partner. Revyra had been anticipating this moment from the time she had been told about the honor that came from having a human partner. She wanted that but when she saw the boy that she was to be saddled with something inside her snapped. It was clear that the boy had graduated but at the bottom of his class. The moment he mounted her she gave him a wild ride before throwing him without even breaking a sweat.

She was locked up in the stables, wings bound, for behaving in such a way. For months she waited and when she was finally released she was given another chance at having a partner. He fared far better than the first boy but in the end was still tossed like a sack of old potatoes. That boy had graduated with honors but still was no match for Revyra and before she could be tied down again she freed her wings and took to the skies. There was no human in that place that could be her partner, her equal. It was time for her to seek a suitable match elsewhere since her home could not provide one.

One day while patrolling on her own she happened upon a skinwalker attack. She jumped in to save one mare, Parnasabari, and ended up meeting Hayagriva. She took it upon herself to keep checking in on the status of the wounded and eventually just stayed for the sake of staying. She has recently started up a training system for the herd's youths and has forged a partnership based on mutual respect with Hayagriva. Revyra acts as the military director for Padmapani and while she is rarely needed her mind is of use as are her training methods.

Personality: Revyra is a very proud individual. She is confident and strong and many might think her to be noble. Those people would be dead wrong. She is not honorable nor does she have a strong sense of right and wrong. What she does have is a vicious temper, a sly tongue and a strong desire to ally herself with equals. An equal would be a person who could match her in a contest. Should someone best her by a great deal she would be indescribably loyal to them seeking to bring herself to their level. Whether that level be to the aid or harm of others is no concern of hers.

History: Vivace has quite a large family and growing up he was never lonely. He had a natural talent at singing inherited from his mother and spent much time refining his skills. One day while exploring the fields he met a filly named Essence and the two decided to exchange lessons: singing for flying which Vivace struggled with. They spent much time together whether Vivace liked it or not and he found himself hiding from Essence to get a moment alone. One day Essence simply vanished though having gone to train to become a midwife. Not having known this Vivace had been avoiding her on the day when she was trying to say her farewells. After that he grew on his own into a fine stallion with a fine voice.

A vicious attack on the Padmapani lead to what Vivace was sure would be the end of his happiness. His father, sister, and great-grandparents were taken from him, a serious blow. A mare named Clea and a few successes against further attacks has slowly brought Vivace back to his old self.

Personality: Vivace is a fairly regular boy. His life is good and because of this his views tend to stray towards optimism. He is not a bouncy, happy-go-lucky sort in any way and often finds the endlessly cheerful soquili a little confusing if not completely amusing. He enjoys company of both guys and girls but it is quite clear that he will only have room in his heart for one mate. There is nothing he enjoys more than filling the air with his song in order to attract others.

History: It would be inaccurate to say that Kouichi had a normal foalhood. However, it would be equally inaccurate to say that he had been unhappy as a foal. Kouichi was raised within the Padmapani herd along with his siblings by his two mothers Utena and Capriccia. He does not know his father but that has never troubled him. As a foal he worked hard to be a prince like his mother Utena. He never missed a lesson from Revyra, Utena or Hayagriva and even worked in extra practices. His life was good and peaceful until Mahapadma ambushed Padmapani on a trip. After that day he had been forced to grow up quickly because he thought there was little room to be childish and selfish with the whole herd scared and scarred.

He ended up with an intense dislike of blood and a strong desire to do good in the world as a result of the events of that day and those that followed.

Personality: Kouichi's nice but he's a little too straightforward for his own good. He wants to see the best in people but that has never stopped him from asking questions that might make it sound like he doesn't trust anyone. He has a strong heart and will along with a patient mind. He's the first to stand up for the little guy and he has never lost sight of his foalhood goal to be a prince.

Winnie is a young black bear cub that Kouichi rescued. She is very smart and a bit of an escape artist. She can find Kouichi anywhere no matter the distance. The only problem is that Kouichi can't tell if she's one of the special familiars of soquili kin or just a regular bear cub. She never speaks to him with words and he really isn't sure what to make of her.

History: Roarke comes from a family rich in tradition. The first of these is the guarding of the family's home waters. The second is relocating to a new home every few generations. His ancestors originally found their home to be in eastern Asia but over time they ended up migrating into Europe mingling bloodlines with locals. His grandparents were born in western Europe. His parents, however, were born in North America as was he. His mother, father, paternal grandfather and both his grandmothers moved in to the Kawani lands when he was still a foal. They settled in the eastern mountains.

Due largely to the amount of mixing in his bloodline he's inherited, with the exception of coloring, the look of his ancient ancestors. He is an only child but his parents and grandparents always thought of him as a sign of good things to come. After all he was clearly special.

When he was still young he received training from his family. He learned how to keep the peace of the river. How to talk someone down and stop fights. He also learned basic skills to physically stop someone if words did not work. He learned what plants to avoid and keep out of the water. Most importantly he learned how to be sure that the river was healthy. Water meant life so keeping the water safe was as important as life. Though even as a young foal Roarke could see that there was plenty of water around he took every lesson to heart and came to love the river that was home.

As he grew he received fewer lessons and more responsibility until he was allowed to start doing his own guarding following a small ceremony saying to his family that he was no longer a foal but a stallion.

Personality: Roarke's duty is to protect the waters of his home. He does this without complaint and often enjoys the task. Despite this he still spends a good deal of time away from the river he was charged with entertaining himself with conversation or anything else. He's a nice fellow that enjoys companionship thoroughly...provided they have some sense.
