L'zant and Bhavaranth - Burning Aces - 2nd Wave
They were waiting their turn to take their place in the sky and Samodith had been sweet enough to answer, even though Bhavaranth had failed -- failed to lift her spirits.
So.
I am going to see her, the blue announced shifting to his feet.
L'zant's eyebrows rose sharply. You're doing w--no. What in that answer made you think that she wanted company?
Bhavaranth lifted his head as if he'd be mortally offended, and produced he most startled look. Everything, Mine. Everything. That said, the blue marched off to find and join Samodith, saying, We will fly all the better for your sweet words and good wishes, lovely Samodith. We have some time before we must go. Do you mind if we sit with you a while? There was so much hope in the simple question.
For his part, L'zant pinched the bridge of his nose, then straightened and put on a smile as he attempted not to stalk after his dragon. He would simply walk. With purpose.
Before Niobet could climb Aedeth's side -- and yes, she accepted help for the first big step, but that was all -- the gold lifted her head and began to keen, a high, haunted sound that was soon being echoed. A sound that very nearly stopped Niobet's heart.
A death. A loss. A least one of those who had been here and present and very much alive not a candlemark ago was gone. No matter that this was a possibility for all of them. No matter that these things happened and those left behind learned to go on, it still hurt, every time.
Finding tears in her eyes, Niobet ducked her head into her shoulder to scrub them away. No time, not now. There'd be time for that when the rest came safely home.
For now, they had work to do.
So she pulled herself up the last distance to her seat, being both careful how she moved and where she stepped. There was a long day ahead of them still and there was no point to make the mistake of waking up an already subdued pain.
Come on, love, she thought gently to Aedeth. Let's go and make the loss worthwhile.

With all the ichor flowing off of him and the blood flowing down D'ast, it was into the water for both of them when they landed in a mess of flowing liquids and pain. It took the healers some precious time to look them over, checking for anything, pulling burrows out and patching up what they could of the damage to Zetigeth's wing, but it was done faster than either would have expected with an ease that had some relief pouring through them. At least it wasn't too bad and redwort applied it barely stung at all anymore.

Though it had been precautionary to return to the Weyr, with such a bodily hit, Y’qua had figured it would be better safe than sorry. But the prognosis from the healers for Heimdath’s scoring was pleasantly better than expected; it hadn’t needed much dressing, and should only be light scarring. His pants were worn, but still in tact and able to keep going.

As they touched down, healers were set to addressing Kinitarth’s scoring as Sam’kel dismounted. Though he’d been lucky thus far in into the fall, he’s worrying slightly over Kinitarth -- even if the blue gently sent his reassurances. He was fine… really!

As soon as healers were done soothing scores and bandaging wounds, Sam’kel was mounting back up into his straps and giving his dragon a pat on the neck as they rose -- and disappeared back to rejoin their wing.

The dragons in the Bowl were still keening, even as Venandith made a harder-than-usual landing in the Bowl. Almost immediately, Zyamel unbuckled her straps, and slid off. She wanted a good look at her boy's injuries. His hip and tail were particularly rough--and the small, delicate sail between his shoulder and thumb joint looked ragged. Green ichor wept from various wounds, and all Zyamel could do was soothe him.
"His hip and tail got it the worst--though that wingsail is looking rough too." She told the healers as they rushed forward. Letting them fuss, she went over to where he had lain down his head, and wrapped her arms delicately about it. "You'll be feeling better soon. You always were a popular fellow," she mused in her usual arrogance, feigning laughter for his sake--and her own.

Soon enough, he was slathered with numbweed and bandaged. I'm feeling much better now Mine.Good. Ready to get back out there? To the healers she gave a sincere nod of thanks before they bustled off to the next wounded.

The keening in the Weyr Bowl mingled with the screams from Faloth as he and W'ill burst from between and made a clumsy landing near the Healers Station. "Help us!" W'ill shouted at the nearest healer. "We got scored bad. I'm not worried about my wounds -- my dragon..." He looked at Faloth's left shoulder and forelimb, covered with fresh Threadscore. "Please patch him up. We have to get back to our Wing--"
"You're not going anywhere, wingrider." The healer doing triage gestured for Wi'll to be looked at and patched up as well. "Not in that condition."

Chiareth wouldn't let herself stumble when she landed in the Bowl--she at least wanted to keep her dignity in that respect. C'asta wasted no further time in flagging down the nearest healer, anxiety crawling up into the back of his mind as he got a good look at the state of his dragon. She'd taken a few hits, but overall, the winds and turbulence had done substantial damage to her, and he kicked himself for not sending her back sooner. Stop it. We're here now, right? We should have already been here. But we weren't. There's--nothing we can do about that now. She gave a soft keen of pain as she lowered herself to the ground, doing what she could to give the healer the best possible angle. It was clear from the look on his face that they wouldn't be going anywhere any time soon, and as much as she wanted to get back into the fight, that was...probably for the best. We'll be alright.

The healer is quick to start bandaging Chiareth up, but C'asta knows better than to ask permission to leave so soon. She needed more time to rest at the very least, and he wasn't going to send her into thread like this. Aw. Look at you, caring about me. Don't even joke about that. C'asta's jaw clenched, a dull thrill of pain skittering through his bones. Of course I do. I know, Mine. I know. She sent him a soft wave of comfort, craning her neck over her shoulder to gently brush C'asta's chest with her nose. She sounded tired, though, and he knew it. This one's quick with his hands. See? Already-- got a lot done on me.

What, is that not enough bandages? Chiareth tilted her head at the healer, glad to feel the numbweed kicking in at least. I'm practically embalmed. Come on. Just hold on for a little longer, love. I'd rather them be too thorough than not enough. Ugh. With a swish of her tail, the Green settled in for a little longer. She could catch her breath for now, she reasoned--as much as it chafed to be grounded in the middle of Threadfall, she might as well make use of her time down here in the Bowl. I'm feeling a lot better, though. Just so you know.

Now. With that, they moved to take off, heading back to rejoin their wing in the skies.
