ISHA

Honestly, there was some mad respect for the little golden dragonet and how she liked to maintain order. That was absolutely a feeling Isha had and knew in spades, as everything had its place and being out of it??? Why....?? There certainly was a feeling of approval coming from the young woman, but not really much else apart from the standards they were told to give. Love and affection, welcoming feelings and all that.

She was about to comment (mentally) on the nature of the two blues and their bond together when a little green spilled out on the sands. Finally. It had been strange to see the small group they had so far, not that she was complaining since it made for something interesting to write about, but considering greens were seriously the most numerous dragon on Pern the faint absence of them was of note.

Plus, in all honesty and again going by statistics, if she were to Impress it likely would be to a green. Bronzes only went for boys, Golds went for girls born outside of the Weyr - or so superstition and gossip seemed to say - and even though Isha had been living at Harper Hall for more than half her life now she was still Weyrborn. Browns....well, there were no browns on the sands right now, but there were the two blues and this solo green. The factoring she worked in...

...changed as soon as another shell split and spilled out yet another. Ah, her chances went up again, maybe, but there were also so many candidates here that had been standing longer (naturally) and were more suited so, hmmm.

Everything in it's place.

At least Western wasn't here.

When the little blue had first leapt on her son, Izara had gasped. There was no knowing how that would end. But then the dragonet had left Izaryel and rounded on Tyara, and it was all Izara could do not to stand up. Her youngest children were down there on the Sands, and she couldn't tell what state either was now in. Things like dragon thoughts were quite irrelevant to her at present, all too aware that these sorts of things could become quite violent indeed. Her fingers, where they were folded together, were white with tension. It was impossible to tell from her vantage point how things had resolved, but there was now another dragonet approaching her children. This one, the small bronze, did not seem hostile, but she couldn't be sure. Someone had come to help her Tyara, or so it seemed, but she couldn't help but fret over her son and daughter.

Heleste - She/her

Heleste was delighted to have people to share her enthusiasm with. “Definitely only the beginning.” Heleste laughed. She watched a little wide eyed as the babies seemed to be getting ready to fight. That was never a good thing. But it also seemed that the blue was choosing to not continue so maybe not?

“Her face may scar, maybe not, only the healers will know” Heleste mused in response to Eliaza, “but she is still ambulatory and alive, so I think she is going to be fine.”

Hunthyex also got a bright smile in greeting. “Hoping for one of the bronzes?” She teased. She hoped that he wasn’t going to be one of those boys who only wanted a bronze, but she admitted she didn’t know much about his desires.

Divisti - She/her

Divisti didn’t have a particular color she wanted, “I don’t really mind what color the dragon is,” she said, she just wanted a dragon to choose her. But she wasn’t going to say that part out loud. She also didn’t really think she was queen rider material. “They certainly know best.” Divisti agreed.

As even more dragons spilled onto the sands, almost literally, she smiled slightly. “Seems the fun one has a companion.” What were they going to get up to, she wondered.

Shekkeh

She was mildly upset, seeing what could be friction between the babies. They were family, and even if they didn't always get along, family shouldn't fight. That was more upsetting than to see the baby turn his claws on the two candidates. Surely he had a reason, and where they didn't seem to be horribly injured, that wasn't too terrible...

And to see the one look so dejected, but at least his brother was a good one, going to see him. It was heartwarming.

Then two greens made their entrance, including the one she had been rather fond of when in the egg. She was a right little beauty, she and her sister both. How wonderful these little ones were, she was in awe of each and every one. How precious, and how lucky the ones they Impressed would be.

But how with each new baby, her confidence seemed to waver just a bit. Sure it was remarkable, and such an honor to be here, to be a part of this, but was she truly worthy? Stuffing these doubts deep down to be looked at and examined later, she tried to focus on nothing other than the dragonets. They deserved nothing less than all the attention and love and adoration the candidates could give.

Maishel

It had been some time since Maishel had attended a hatching, and since then she had certainly come to know a thing or two about how one should behave. It had been pointed out to her, kindly of course as she'd accept nothing less and certainly would ignore anything more, that perhaps her manners at the time had been rather....lacking. Certainly she was raised with class and poise for a Hold and Hall, but a Weyr was its own world with different etiquette.

Naturally that meant she tore into it and studied as one would and should in case they were invited once more, and as Maishel sat in the stands and watched the scene on the sands, particularly the facial damage done to a young girl, she reminded herself of those mannered roles.

One, thoughts to herself, no matter what she may be feeling. Dragons apparently were literal mind readers of everyone around and she didn't need the troubles.

Two, sit and look pretty. Watchers in the stands were just that - watchers - and her actions could cause problems were she to dare and stand out.

No...pun intended, of course.

And so she sat, watching. Her mind did trickle back to wondering what he would have looked like down there, a candidate waiting, but that was a sting of bitterness in her heart she was not ready to address.

The Gold Sunbeam Egg peeped and creeled as Mictecath worked, eagerly taking the opportunity she'd provided to poke at the cut she'd left in the side of its shell. Now that there's a proper hole in it, it's clear that the shell was rather thick and inflexible, even with the dragonet within doing its best to break through on its own--it was too much of a good thing, perhaps, as the protection it offered had become a bit of a prison.

That last one sounds...really nice, actually. A small nose begins to poke through the cut, delicately shaped and gleaming white--soon enough, more of the hatchling emerges until he's curled up in a tiny heap in front of his egg, the yellow whirling in his eyes gradually subsumed by waves of purple as he looked up at his mother. Can we do that for a little bit? Just until I'm not quite so tired, if that's okay...?
The Gold Sunbeam White gently set his head down on Mictecath's claw, trying to cover up his panting with a huff instead. It's only somewhat effective.

Sweet Symmetry
; v;

Elsewhere in the clutch, the White Tiger Egg had seen enough. Its shell bursts open, scattering fragments in an arc around itself as the hatchling decided it was time to stop hiding--left standing in the wreckage is a slim Blue, red and gray in his eyes as he looked over the Sands. His brothers' hearts were aching, and he keened his sympathy, certainly loud enough for all of them to hear.
For now, the Candidates could wait. He'd pay them their fair share of his attention soon enough, but the White Tiger Blue could not simply sit by and let the Green Spotted Blue endure such grief; he lopes over to his chromatic brethren, wrapping around the Purple and Gray Space Blue to further secure the Green Spotted Blue in a cocoon of love and support. How could they turn their backs on him? Perhaps he'd acted a little rashly, but that didn't make him a vicious beast!

We've got you, brother. His tone is gentle, but there's a fierce love burning in him, surely enough for the Green Spotted Blue to feel. Regardless of anyone else's pressuring, it would hold firm. I know you, and I know what you were trying to do--you would not harm them so recklessly, and especially not without a purpose. Dear heart, I understand. We understand.

Chakuri

She noted the kept distance and took no offense from it. Lihyo just... didn't seem like a touchy-feely kind of person. She made quiet, pleased noises as more and more dragons began to hatch--and solemnly observed as the blue knocked down two Candidates and pointedly marked one. "It seemed like he was sending a message..." She murmured, glancing at her companion as though to gauge her thoughts.

After the tension radiating between said blue and his golden sister, Chakuri was more than grateful to see two greens hatch--both lively and seemingly eager to be out and about.

Hunthyex

Both Eliaza and Heleste would be given polite, charming smiles, and though Hunthyex internally stifled a sigh, none of it showed upon his face. He didn't fault their excitement--everything about this situation deserved excitement, joy, and hope. He just wasn't one to openly display his emotions in such a fashion.

He took in the situation with narrowed, thoughtful eyes, observing. "I'm no healer, but he seemed to be fairly precise with his claws." It had been a deliberate move, not the wild, angry lashing out that he had witnessed from some baby dragons before.

He glanced again at Heleste, his lips curling into another smile. "I wouldn't dare to assume such a thing." Oh, a bronze would be incredible, but... "I'm no fool. Any dragon that finds me worthy is the one I want."

Nedemar
More and more eggs were beginning to hatch, and the pace was picking up. Not only were there two bronzes out, but two blues, and a gold! Surely, all the girls would be pleased. Unfortunately, the gold took off shortly thereafter, and went...well....

It was hard to see around the throng of Candidates and white robes, but he did hear the loud back and forth. He hardly knew he was holding his breath, concerned about things escalating, when a few more eggs broke shell, and the tension released. Not one, but two little greens were suddenly among the throng, and Nedemar was glad for the distraction. They certainly seemed like a happy bunch, and he was glad for their arrival.

"Will hopefully be smooth sailing from here," he commented to the nearby Candidates Isha, Bherrus and Cetra. While bloodshed was common, he hoped the dragonets were ready to seek theirs out. At this point, it was anybody's guess on who they were meant for--and that meant, his chances were high, weren't they? Outside of the gold, any one of them might be His.

Lusialu
Things changed quickly and any thrill that might have moved her at the sight of a glittering queen was followed by concern when Oranie gripped her arm tighter. While she couldn't see clearly what was going on, the argument between the dragonets made it clear something was a miss, and some Candidates had been knocked down. Still, she held tightly onto Oranie, and did her best to focus on the two new greens.

"I'm glad Mictecath is able to help the little one in that egg. I remember touching that one," she pointed out softly, hoping to distract. "And look at those little greens! Wouldn't it be fun if they were ours?" Oh, she wanted to Impress so badly, and could only hope it was with Oranie. But... she also remembered her promise. No matter what happened, there would be nothing but good things to talk about after it was all said and done.

She, at least, was determined. Even with the scuffle on the Sands, it would be a good day.

The little green was right, of course. Fun was what they all needed, after all.

Melka
The gold dragon did catch her eye, and Melka couldn't help but admire the pretty thing. And why shouldn't she? Honestly, Melka saw herself with a flirty green, at the end of the day--but being spoiled as she was, and desirous of having the best of everything, it was terribly hard not to fancy a metallic, either. She'd been a bit enamored by both Anakumath and Mictecath, and the little golden darling was absolutely charming, even with her strong opinions.

The fight between her and her blue brother was, perhaps, a touch less so--but everyone was a critic, after all. She did her best not to have an opinion -- surely, the blue had his reasons, and the little gold had hers. Fights happened even among friends (shells, even Draza and her had their share) but life would inevitably move on.

"Not a brown to be seen," she mused aloud as two greens hatched. "Looks like the girls are finally making their appearance." She couldn't help but laugh at the green questioning fun. "We're always up for a good time, aren't we?" She mused aloud, eyes twinkling with mirth. Nevermind the type of fun Draza and she usually got up to wasn't quite hatchling appropriate.

Izaryel
He couldn't believe what happened.

One moment, he'd been trying to reassure a blue dragonet, and the next, he'd been pounced, with the breath knocked out of him. The blue dragon might not have been as large as some of the dragons shelled, but there was power and force behind him and would be enough to leave him with a few bruises.

Everything happened so quickly -- first he'd been told how handsome he was, which seemed to have bafflingly set the dragon off in the first place, despite having never thought such a thing -- but then, the blue bounded off him and pounced his sister!

"No!" He tried to choke out, but it was too late.

To further complicate things, not one, but two, other dragons bounded over. One of them was a gold, but she seemed to go after the blue and let them be. The other was a bronze, who seemed to want to assist in some way. He knew they weren't supposed to get involved, or touch dragons, and they were also supposed to think happy, welcoming thoughts. But all Izaryel could think about was how he'd failed to protect his sister, as he'd so vowed, and worse, that he clearly was some sort of failure in terms of this new role. No one else had been so singled out -- and in front of so many faces. His mother and his brother both were witness to his shame...among hundreds of strangers and lords.

The embarrassment might have overwhelmed him had he not shoved it down and away. Though his throat was tight, and he could feel his eyes burning, he wouldn't lose face further by doing something so humiliating like letting his emotions make him cry. He was just about to push himself to his feet when another Candidate came over and immediately started assisting Tyara, to add insult to his already injured pride. While he would later be grateful, helping her and checking up on her was the one small thing he could do and....

Even that was taken from him.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," he finally stated aloud, trying to reassure the bronze, himself, his sister, and the stranger. He pushed himself to his feet, not bothering to wipe off the sand. Was he really fine? No. But it didn't matter. It was par for the course for Izaryel and he'd deal with it later. Or not.

"Tyara, are you all right? I'm sorry! I don't know what happened," he apologized, absolutely certain that the whole provocation was his own doing. Somehow, his looks or vanity or something had caused some sort of commotion, and now this had happened. "Come on, let's get you to the healers." He didn't know if Whren was some sort of healer or what the others experience was, but he wasn't going to risk his sister to anyone else. "I'll take her," he noted, leaning down to help her stand. "Lean on me, the healers aren't far. They'll be able to patch you up just fine." Scars or not, he didn't want his sister troubled or burdened and ... getting away from the dragonets was probably best.

Everything here was so new and different and he just... probably didn't belong. Five minutes on the Sands and his sister was already bleeding. He'd been right there and he couldn't stop it. Things may have been much worse, but for Izaryel, he was left humiliated and confused.

ISHA

The arrival of a third blue to add to the blue pile was certainly interesting, and Isha marked it down in her mental list of yet another thing this hatching had given that was interesting. For now it seemed like the shouting match might be over, but again she didn't see anything entirely too wrong about wanting things were they belonged.

She also didn't really see anything wrong with the blue's method of making a point, as correcting someone before they get carried away is also important, but then again someone had gotten a claw to the face so. Who was she to judge.

Her thoughts were interrupted by someone speaking to her in a rather peppy tone, and she turned to look. Ne...demar, right? Or something like that. Isha pressed her lips together and nodded in reply, but also shrugged at the same time.

Lots of hatchings seemed fine and turned out bloody, just as lots of seemingly bloody hatchings turned out easy. This hatching just seemed to have few greens (so far) and a white (yes, she saw), and that was interesting enough along with the blue pile. "Sure?"

Still not entirely certain what he had done, the Cloudy Skies bronze sent a tentative yet reassuring croon to his brother, the Green Spotted blue. As far as he could tell, there was some sort of misunderstanding going on, but neither brother nor sister appeared to be in the wrong. He hadn't caught the thought that had precipitated this, but the vibe between his siblings was definitely strained. He reached over to brush his soft muzzle against Izaryel's hand, trying to be comforting, but not certain how to help.

If you're sure you're all right? the dragonet asked, but certainly could tell that the boy was already embarrassed. Maybe it was better to let him stand on his own two feet. Standing awkwardly about wasn't getting the bronze anywhere, so instead he ambled over to investigate another set of Candidates: Nedemar, Isha, Bherrus, and Cetra. Hello, he said pleasantly, his voice soft and curious. Are you having fun? He couldn't tell, exactly, what with the alarm that a number of Candidates seemed to be experiencing.

Butterfly Egg Gold was about to give a hiss at her brother and really put her little foot down, but Mama Mictecath seemed to have an opinion about the situation. The little gold did turn her head up to look up at her mother, and though her eyes remained red for a few moments, purple-blue seeped into their edges.

She pondered what her mother said for a moment, before looking back towards the retreating form of her blue clutchmate. Hmph. He would earn the title of brother once he did something nice to deserve it. But that was neither here nor there. I am less displeased about his actions and more displeased by his words, but I shan't let him spoil my day. She'd remind him of his place if he so put a paw out of line again, just see if she didn't!

That not one, but two of her fellow blue clutchmates decided to descend upon him was nothing short of aggravating. He had started the entire affair, and now somehow he was the victim? Please. But that wasn't her concern until she decided to make it her concern.

As it was, sweet Aubergine Bronze had the decency to offer her nothing but support. How good of him. She crooned happily, giving him a sweet nuzzle, before turning blue-green eyes back upon the Candidates. Quite right--though if he, or his little duo of sympathizers, step out of line--do take care of it for me, won't you? I trust a strong, strapping bronze like you will keep them easily in line. That was the truth, of course--and an expectation.

There were still some of her clutchmates in their shells, peculiar, but there were a few new faces on the Sands, as well. Hello, sister dears! How good of you to make an entrance. She crooned to both Teal and Blue Spiral Green as well as Green Vine Green, her pleasure obvious. Though she was eager to greet them, there were also plenty of Candidates out there to investigate. Too much tension for her liking.

But which one to meet first?

----

Though the Sketchy Cupcake Egg had been rolling and wobbling, nothing seemed to be working. At least... not until there was a great BONK. When one of it's clutchmates hit it, that was all that was needed. The egg crumbled, and out rolled a very loud, very distressed, dragonet.

HELP! HELP SEND HELP! I'M DYING! HELP! IT HURTS!!!! The dragonet absolutely screamed as it thrashed out of the egg, rolling this way and that, kicking up sand, squirming ever dramatically. Any Candidates nearby were well at risk of being kicked, smacked with a wing, thwaped with a tail, or head butt by its thrashing. The injuries wouldn't be enough to kill or do permanent damage, but they could well hurt or require a healers attention.

Look out!

That the dragonet's eyes were bright blue did seem a bit at odds with all the commotion.

Tyara

Tyara could hear things were happening back where the eggs were, but she couldn't focus on it at the moment, with the blue staring her down. So she missed more babies, including a gold, hatching out of their eggs. She did hear as the blue said maybe he would do those who came after him a favor by making sure she wasn't out of reach..what did he mean by that? Worry filled her as the blue pounced her brother, oh no..had..had she endangered her twin?! She watched, shaking a little as she did, but it seemed he didn't hurt him...least that she could see. Before she could feel any relief from that, a gasp came from her as the blue pounced her instead and as fell back, she felt the sand against her. She let out a soft cry of pain, as he left a warning to her with thoughts and claws. Thankfully, she knew it could have been worse, but she could feel the blood from the fresh wound and the pain. She made sure to stay still, as she was reminded, just in case the blue wanted to teach her more. She didn't get to acknowledge the blue's lesson or need to worry, however, as he headed off. She was sure she felt eyes on her now too, which just made her shrink into herself.

If she didn't think she could feel worse, it seemed she was wrong as she heard a strong voice getting into an argument with the blue. She tried to see who it was as she adjusted...seeing a..gold?! However, she felt horrid for starting a fight between family, no matter how unintentional. Family was a big thing to her, she had always been close to her own. To think she had caused such issues made her want to just sink into the sand. She did want to tell them she thought they were all wonderful, she was sorry for causing a fight between them. She also felt bad as a bronze baby felt he had to come over to check on them. She sent him a feeling of appreciation, trying to let him know she would be okay. It was sweet of him to want to help, she thought. She also tried to let the gold know she was okay too, since she did come to her defense, even if she felt she had deserved the lesson from the blue.

"I should be okay, I think I should be able to get there..."she had begun to Whren, as he checked her wound for her. She didn't want him to miss his chance to get his dragon or at least make it harder for his dragon. She didn't get to finish, as her brother insisted on her going to the healers. She did as he suggested, leaning on him as she got gingerly to her feet. Then she walked with him over to the healers, figuring with the new mark on her face, she had made her even less pretty. She saw the blue pile as she walked, feeling even worse. Well, going to the healers would be more fine, a dragon would probably not want her having better options on the sands..such as Whren who had been kind enough to help.

"No, I am the one sorry, Izaryel. It is my fault the blue jumped on us, I had been thinking about you on a bronze,"she whispered softly. That he was handsome, unlike her, in her opinion. She leaned her head on his shoulder as they walked, her eyes catching some of the movements on the sands as they walked further away from it. Oh, Mama, she was probably worried about them..she hated worrying her mother. And her eldest brother too, though she did feel a wave of love from Mihrath directed towards her and Izaryel.

Bherrus

He turned his attention from the little green to Nedemar, Isha, and Cetra.

"Hopefully, yeah!" Bherrus grinned. "Anything short of death is—"

    Oh my.

The boy stopped bouncing quite abruptly, planting his feet in the sand and his hands at his sides. A bronze was here, and the time was now for settling down.

"Hi. This is the most fun I've ever had, even if there seems to be some... tension over there?" He eyed the pile of blues and Tyara's departure with as much concern as he could muster, but it didn't last when confronted with his excitement. "I hope things are okay with you?" he told Cloudy Skies, his well wishes rising at the end in a question. "And I hope yours is okay too. You know... when you find him."

As you wish, Aubergine Bronze accepted this newly affirmed responsibility without a complaint. Butterfly Gold need only say it was his to do now and he was already keeping an eye on the trio of blues in the middle of the candidates.

Not that he would let it keep him from his other duties as well - such as keeping his sister company if she still wanted it. His would wait - he expected patience at the very least.

Oh wonderful! Teal and Blue Spiral Green oozed delight at Bherrus's enthusiasm over having a fun time - and of course Green Vine Green was up for a good time too! Teal and Blue Spiral Green pranced and crooned in delight around her sister, bumping her head against Green Vine's affectionately before she turned to offer Butterfly Wing Gold a hwenk! of greeting.

Well it seemed like it was about time! Look at this mess! she motioned with a nod of her head towards the candidates heading off towards the healers already and she had barely gotten there!

But of course, she had to fix that - making purposeful strides towards the candidates with a bit of a sway in her walk. Shall we? she asked, peering back towards both her sisters. The more the merrier, right?

Nedemar
While Nedemar didn't exactly expect much of a conversation--they were to be focused on the baby hatchlings, after all--what he expected even less was for a bronze to approach, much less speak to them. His conversation with the young Candidate certainly could wait. While he had no assumptions about the dragons agenda, he couldn't help but admire him. No matter how many times he'd seen a baby dragon, there was something special about seeing them up close.

"It's been an exciting night, that's for sure. Are you doing all right though, and are you having fun?" Did dragonets want to have fun while they sought out Theirs? Honestly, he'd never thought about it until now -- but he did send nothing but happy thoughts to the dragon.

Maybe Madanee would see that a bronze had so singled out the four of them. Or Jhiroquel for that matter.

Sorry -- bronze interruption.

Izaryel
Leading his sister over to the sidelines, Izaryel gave a small snort before immediately dismissing her apologies. "Don't even think twice about, and no need to apologize. They said the baby dragonets were often easily riled or upset before they found Theirs. Let's just... Let's just chalk it up to that, okay?" He didn't want to blame Tyara for anything. The blue had said his peace, and left her face bleeding. Assigning blame or fault wouldn't do anyone any good -- nevermind that he'd hypocritcally already shouldered it all himself.

"Here we are. Can you help her?" He asked worriedly.

The Healers had already seen them coming, and redwort and numbweed were well on hand. "We'll get her cleaned up. This way--" And though Izaryel didn't want to let his twin go, he honestly didn't have a choice.

The Healers were more than competent and ready to get her face seen to. He didn't have anything wrong with him, besides the weight of his own shame and some probably bruising. "I'll just be right over here, okay?" He told his sister, not wanting to cause any more trouble, but not wanting to just abandon her either.

So it was, he hurried back onto the Sands, but only went far enough away that he wouldn't catch F'dral's eye or censure. It would probably be best for everyone if he just stayed back, anyway. He didn't want to further misstep and he still felt like he was some sort of marked man. Maybe, if his sister was allowed to return, they could go back to the crowd together. Until then he... He would try to think happy thoughts, even if he didn't feel them.

And for sure he wouldn't think a jot about his appearance.
