Here's a recent bit of work I did in an old book of mine (the magazine picture on the left is the one that I used for the Prince of Cats painting. ^_^ the Mercutio quotes just seem so befitting. The picture on the right is all me. A little doodle of one of my book characters, Cael)

A line project for my art studio class. The assignment was to make a 100 foot line in nature. For the record this is the very first time I've ever french braided anything.

This is a series from my art studio course. Our original assignment was to make a still life out of whatever monochrome white objects we could find. Then we had to destroy it and document the destruction of our still lives. Believe me, after drawing this twisted thing repeatedly for exercises I was ready to just beat it to death.

Sorry for the quality, its very difficult to photograph these.

I was browing for stock photos for another piece and the image of the bloody eggshell just caught me by surprise and I decided I had to use it. The dead bird photo was something I took myself.

I think my apology to my colored pencils (I left them in my mini backpack with a rotten banana.....mess ensued) has worked. They seem to be my friends again. Hooray. 8]

@Celes: Alrighty, let's get crackin'. biggrin

Her nose is too short. It should protrude more from her face, have a more rounded tip, and assumin that you're going for more of a realistic approach (though you've disregarded the nostrols), there should be more of a dip at the top of the bridge before the forehead.

The eye is too tall, and being that this is a side view, too wide. It should also be scooted farther back on the head.

The space between the chin and neck is too small, and the neck isn't supposed to be perfectly up-and-down straight. It's at more of an angle from a side view. Also, the cheekbone should take a turn upwards at the ear, not continue to follow the head outline.

Again, from a side view, the arms are not placed at the back of the torso. She should have more back muscles showing. Also, the boobs are too...perky? Her chest shouldn't extend that far from her face unless she's sucking air in really tight.

To help you out, though it's semi-realism, you might find this to be a really useful picture. ^_^ Good luck, Celes! You've got a good start.

Huzzah! Help! Thanks people. I'm not so practiced with side views, I generally avoided them but as I've been getting so many new ideas for drawings, I figured I might as well figure them out. If I plan to get into MICA I'm going to need to know how to do them.

Slim: Thanks for pointing everything out, it definitely helps. I figured that if I could get help anywhere I'd get it here. Some of you all know how to be brutally honest, and that's what I need. I was rather scared to put it on deviantArt, though...

Mut: Thanks so much. Visuals really help me, so that's one of the best things that you could show me.
