On the portuguese island my mother grew up on some of the old generations still have such a thick accent that its hard to understand what they're saying. Or so I'm told haven't been there yet.

And I have to say, some Brittish english sounds like an entirely different language to me 3nodding really? Yes...especially if they speak fast 3nodding I was at a friends house and he had a British movie on. Whoever made the movie subbed the cockney in it... -Tsuji

Yes...especially if they speak fast 3nodding >_> i have a very low and smoothe voice, and i've never been accused of speed talking.

I don't know if a Brittish person would have trouble understanding english from someone with an American accent...then again, Americans have all kinds of accents so...*shrug*
