"Mommy won't let me cook my own food. She's afraid I'll burn down the apartment." Calista told him, jumping back a little as she heard it pop and sizzle.

"Just give it a few years. I can let you help out whenever I'm cooking, you learn how to cook along the way, and someday you can be making us dinner for a change." Adrian said teasing her a bit with a smile. "For now you'll just have to wait until you can see over the stove without using a step stool."

"I can't help that I'm short. I'm seven." Calista argued, still leaning heavily against the table.

"I know. I tease because I love." Adrian said with a smile as he ruffled her hair while the smell of food began to drift throughout the apartment. Dinner was almost ready. "Alright, hopefully she doesn't complain about what I put in here. Stir fry tends to be fairly 'anything goes'."

"You're making stir fry?" Amaya yawned as she opened the door to their room and walked towards the kitchen.
"Adrian said he was gonna buy you a cook book." Calista told her mother as she hopped off her chair and ran over to hug Amaya.

"That was before I knew you already had one, or so I've been told. And Calista said you liked it, so why not?" Adrian said with a shrug as he began plating the food.

"I do like stir fry. It's easy and mostly healthy." She said as she poured drinks for everyone and then took her seat.

"You two still need to expand your diets. Calista's seven. What kid hasn't been a picky eater at some point or another. You have no excuse." Adrian said pointing a fork at at Amaya as he set the table before taking his seat.

"Our diet would be fine if we were living in Japan. I cook a ton of different Japanese food." Amaya argued as she took a forkful of her food and looked at him.

"Well like I was telling Calista, my mom was a chef that loved to cook and had us eating from a global menu. I'm used to variety." Adrian said simply as he began eating.

"Yeah yeah, you and your variety." Amaya muttered, taking a sip of her drink as she sat back in her chair.

"Eating habits aside, have a nice nap?" Adrian asked as he took a drink, a small smile on his face from what Calista had told him earlier. It sounded like just having him around was going to help her get caught up on sleep.

((That face made me lose it.))
Amaya nodded quietly, swallowing what was in her mouth before she spoke. "I did. It's nice to be able to catch up. Little cold though." She told him with a small smile.

"Well, I'll be sure to make up for lost warmth tonight then." Adrian told her with a smile. "Maybe we can save up all the feathers I lose and see if we can't get Marco to stuff a comforter with them." he joked.

"You're oh so thoughtful." Amaya teased, finishing up her dinner rather quickly. "It was pretty good. Thanks for cooking." She told him with a smile as she got up to clear her plate, kissing Adrian's cheek as she passed by.
