Joey was in a tough position. Something had just landed on him, knocking the breath out of him and pushing him underwater. With her hands out, he couldn't move around her to get some air. So, he pushed her away lightly with one arm and swam to the surface. He gasped in air and looked down in the water at the new arrival. "Um...hello?"

After returning back to the water she saw this human. Her eyes wide. She'd never truly interacted with humans. She was wading up to her shoulders in the sea. "H-Hello?" She repeated. Touching her lips and trying the sound out, never having spoken before.

Joey cocked his head to the side. She seemed awkward when it came to talking. "Are you ok? I know that I don't make for a soft landing and all..." He faded off, wondering what to do.

Aoife hadd learned a little speech from watching them for so long, but this was the first she was putting it to use. "I am healthy. Are you h-healthy?" She asked. She slumped back down in the water trying to hide the fins on her back.

"Healthy? Yea, I'm fine. And don't worry, I already saw the fins. It is kind of hard not to notice, now. Also, I have already met a mermaid, so there is no reason to be afraid. Yet..." He looked at her, noticing some differences. "There are some things that are different. What are you?"

Aoife looked at herself. "I am a sea fairy." The fins on her back moved like featherless wings.

"Wow...I am a human, of course." He grinned sheepishly. "I am Joey." He offered a smile.

SilentShadowDreamer Katalina saw their turn coming up after a few more minutes of moderately uncomfortable swimming - it was hard with someone else attached to her. Wrapping her free arm around him so he wouldn't lose his grip on her, she made a sharp turn, and after swimming against the rapids for a few very long seconds, they were through into a tunnel of smooth water. She let go of Joshua and grinned at him. "We made it," she announced. Joshua loosed his grip on Katalina as he opened his eyes. "Thanks." He muttered, embarrassed. He shook himself, as if to rid the last sense of the rapids. "Where are we off to?" He asked, looking around the waters.

Aoife tilted her head in curiousity. "Joey." She gave a small quiet smile. "I have never spoken to human before."

Joey smiled as she said his name. "Well, there is a first time for everything." He didn't ask what her name was. He felt that if she wanted to tell him, she would. "Um, my legs are starting to get tire, can we head closer to the shore? You don't have to if you don't want to..." He faded off and blushed a little, looking away.

Aoife slowly realised. "Okay." She began to head there slowly, making sure he could keep up with her.

Joey swam close to the shore until he could walk in the water without having to swim. The water was at his chest. He turned and smiled at her. "Ah, much better. So, what brings you here?"

"I followed humans from the cold waters." Aoife flipped her fin out. "I am Aoife."

"I see. Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Aoife. You just wait until Joshua gets back. He will be jumping with joy when he sees you." He smiled and shrugged. "Cold waters? Does that mean you came from the Northern Sea?"

Aoife's brows drew together in confusion at the name of someone new. But she nodded when he asked her about her past whereabouts. "Lots of.. of..." She paused looking for the word. "...ice."
