"Yeah, being alone will do that to you." Amaya told him, shaking her head as she sighed. Being alone for several years in the ring certainly did it for her.

"It sucked even more since I didn't know where you were and no one back home was quite ready to get over the whole mutate thing." Adrian said starting to nuzzle her a bit. "I'm probably that family member no one talks about anymore at this point."

"Well...at least they're still around. Maybe they'll reach that point someday." She muttered, falling silent now. The thought that crossed her mind was one she tried for years to banish, though she failed every time. She wondered if her parents would've accepted her. She couldn't remember if they saw her at the very end or what exactly happened that night, but it bothered her every time she thought about it, as much as she tried to work past it.

Adrian sighed, cutting the silence as he cuddled close. "Being a mutate's somehow a lot more lonely than I thought." he mused.

"It can be...people are afraid of you, sometimes you're afraid of you...it's hard..." She murmured, curling into his arms now. "Most mutates hide, so it's hard to find others..."

"I've probably said this before, I don't know, but I'm standing by it. There was one thing, one single, sole thing, that was good about that unholy arena: I got to meet you." Adrian said with a soft smile as he hugged her close. "And for that I can be thankful for these lousy wings, horns, and the oodles of scars I've got now. Totally worth it."

Amaya smiled, nuzzling her forehead against his as she cuddled with him. "I'm glad I made it all worth it then."

"I'd be terribly sad if I didn't have anyone to give wing hugs too anyway." Adrian said with a smile as he nuzzled her back.

"I'd be sad if I didn't have anyone to give me hugs. I like hugs as it turns out." Amaya said, chuckling lightly as she wrapped her arms around him.

"Toddlers make you more pro-hug. Have one of your own someday and you'll understand." Amaya said with a small smile.

"I've got Calista and known her when she was three. I'm well aware." Adrian said with a smile. "And you both may have all the hugs you could ever want."

"Pfft. You had her for a year tops. A year of co-parenting is not much parenting." Amaya told him, blowing some hair out of her face. "As for the hugs, I'll still take you up on that as I enjoy the warmth."

"Still parenting none the less. You appreciate my help and you know it." Adrian said brushing the stray hairs from her face and tucking them behind one ear.

"You're right. I do." Amaya said, smiling before she kissed him softly. She yawned once she pulled away and crawled off the couch. "Well I'm going to bed." She told him before waving to him slightly and disappearing down the hall and into their room.
