The first year watched as her opponent zoomed about the pitch after the snitch that she could not see. It was really frustrating how the ball could evade her, even when she knew it’s approximate location. When Lexine went for the catch, Indie winced, sure the sixth year would do it this time. But the older girl had apparently missed, and Indie, once again relieved, continued to search for the thing. She was eager to join the fray, and desperate for the adrenaline she’d felt as she’d reached the first couple times.

Lexine could've sworn she'd felt the cool metal of the snitch on her fingers, but she wasn't so certain as she watched it speed forward. Once again, Lexine leaned forward and tried grabbing for the snitch.

Every time she thought she’d caught sight of something, it turned out to be a false alarm. This was getting to be more than frustrating. Lexine went for the “invisible” snitch once more, and then seemed to lose track of it. Annoyed as she was, Indie did her best to collect herself, take a few breaths, and then resume looking for the snitch with renewed enthusiasm.

Indie reminded herself that this was all she’d ever wanted to do, and continued the search for the snitch. Statistically speaking, she had to find it eventually. And it was much more likely to find the thing when she was cool and collected than if she was getting frustrated. Determined, she moved to a new vantage point and scanned the hoops on the far side of the pitch, looking for any sign of movement that was neither bludger nor chaser nor quaffle nor beater nor keeper nor Lexine. It was a tough job, but she kept on doing it.

Just as soon as she’d settled into her new perspective, she suddenly glimpsed a flash of gold. This time, she was much more prepared and instantly began the pursuit, but apparently a moment too late. Lexine had, of course, already seen the snitch, and had taken off just a moment before. Indie was much quicker this time, however, and soon was right on her heels. It seemed ironic, now, that she wore a golden snitch all the time when in actuality it annoyed her greatly. She vowed to practice as much as she could over the course of her time here at Hogwarts, as this game of cat-and-mouse was leaving her empty-handed and rather ticked off.
