The last eyedrops were still effective so after Devon checked and made sure everything was in place he tightened his medical gloves and put the wires back upon Demitria's face. He turned the machine on that read her facial movements and then turned on the surgical light. He began doing his new observation, going from changing the light intensity to writing down the observations he made.

Demitria hissed, now getting uncomfortable in her hold. She hated the light as it irritated her eyes even more than the last experiment. She grit her teeth and began to wriggle as she squinted against the lighter colored lights and finding only brief seconds in the dark ones. She disliked this experiment even more that Yani was here to watch her, to observe her. She wanted oh so badly to scratch his eyes out if she was given the chance. But she knew that’d be nearly impossible. Her eyes began to tear against the really, really, bright light whereas she just shut her eyes tightly now.

After a few minutes of observation, Devon turned off the lights, moved the lamp away, lowered the head part of the experimentation table, and printed the results again. There was one more set of lights to use before he was finished with that experiment. He turned off the recording machine so that it wouldn't record the facial movements between experiments but left the wires on Demitria's face. He tried changing a bulb, but it was too hot, causing his examination glove to stick to it for a moment as he pulled his hand away.
Devon let the bulbs cool as he wheeled over a tray of dental tools. Devon wasn't specifically trained in the field of dentistry, but he knew how to check, clean, pull, drill, and fill. Other scientists more skilled in the dental field performed other oral surgeries such as root canals.

Demitria was slightly relieved those damned lights were off but the wires on her face bugged her. She tried to calm so her heart rate would lower. But as she was lowered, she knew more experiments would come. Yani was the blame for this. For her pain. Like any Chimera, she held a deep hatred for him. The clink of tools above her head made her soft brownish black ears twitched as she strained to hear. Dental tools. She’s heard them before and they only made specific sounds. She hated having her teeth checked upon, having those scientists, who may have killed several of her brethren and kind, sticking their grubby fingers in her mouth.

Devon picked up a scraping pick in one medical gloved hand and a dental mirror in the other. He shined a different type of inspection light over Demitria's mouth. This one was used for oral examinations. Devon did a quick picking and scraping of Demitria's teeth to see how strong they were and if they needed any work. After checking all of Demitria's teeth, he put the pick down and grabbed the electric toothbrush. He put some dental paste on the rubber part and began polishing Demitria's teeth while using the mirror to check to make sure he polished every part of her teeth. The paste was not flavored and therefore would probably not have a very good taste.
"Sir" Devon said to Yanni without taking his eyes of Demitria's teeth as he polished, "that chimera John seems to keep escaping and causing quite a nuisance. Would you like me to implant one of those new tracking chips that are being worked on into his skull so that we will always have the exact location on him? That is, of course after I've finished experimenting on this specimen". Devon wouldn't give Demitria any rinse until he finished. He put more polishing powder on the electric toothbrush, then continued to polish her teeth.

Hiccadu smirked.
"I shall," she replied simply. "Of course." Then she shrugged, and motioned to the door. "Shall we depart then?"

Apsalar's scritching at the metal bars reached an almost frantic crescendo, and then abruptly slowed down as she registered the feeling of eyes on her. Her eyes flicked up, then slowly went around the room - she saw nothing, but that didn't mean that nothing was there.
It just made it a little more unlikely.
She gave a little growl deep in her throat, but quickly stopped that, too. It just sounded too pathetic - like a little puppy challenging the entire world out of its puniness and terror. That was the last image she wanted to convey.
Instead, she scanned the room again, looking for the source of the feeling. She refused to believe it was just paranoia - that would mean that her senses, the last thing she could depend on, were beginning to play tricks on her. And if she accepted that, it would destroy her.
Finally, looking down, she realized what it was. The newly-recaptured Chimera was looking back at her. She allowed herself a little breath of relief, before lifting her hand slightly and giving him a testing wiggle of her fingers - almost, but not quite a wave.

Demitria twitched under his work. She hated when people touched her teeth but she didn’t bite at his fingers. That’d be painful. For one, the scraping tool in her mouth would jack up the inside of her mouth. Two, she had already tried this once before when a scientist thought it’d be smart to stick their hands in her mouth without fortification. That beating was horrible, including the regular kicking and punches, but also a whip sort of thing and injections right afterwards. Demitria hoped she didn’t have that beating ever again; she still had scars from that one. But she strained to hear Devon as he spoke with Yani about John. The mere thought of Panther on her own was heartbreaking but having John come back defeated kind of ruined the Chimera’s pride. When one luckily escaped, the Chimera seemed to take pride in it. Or at least she did. But now that John returned, it was like she swallowed that pride. But she couldn’t exactly swallow with all that polishing crap Devon was putting on her teeth.

It was cold. A shiver ran down the small boy's spine. It was cold, and the slight scratching noises coming from a nearby cage was just as chilling. But he wouldn't dare tell the other to stop. If it was the only thing keeping her sane...Sanity in this place was a rare thing.

((Won't be getting any this weekend, but I can post for tonight at least :/))
"Yes, he has been seeming to cause Jared more and more trouble lately," Yani admitted thoughtfully. "TAIS's counterpart seems more than a match for him, however. Hopefully I shouldn't need to keep a leash on my Chimerae, although it would be interesting to see the reaction..." He mulled it over for a bit. "Perhaps a chip would be a novel idea." Though, not in his skull... That would be too risky. Wouldn't be able to study him much that way if something should go wrong, not that he didn't appreciate his scientist's dexterity.
Jared was already out the garage door, not bothering to answer the Chimera. He wished for a motorcycle or dirtbike, but that would mean he would have to pack less. He missed the wind in his face.
John gave Apsalar a small, sad smile. She was above him, in Panther's cage. He could see her through the evenly-spaced ventilation holes in the bottoms of the Chimerae's cages, so uncomfortable when they were trying to sleep. Or do anything else, really. He almost knew what it meant to them for him to get caught after breathing free air. He knew the bitter taste of defeat in the form of half-boiled turnips and gruel they fed to Chimerae.
And he knew how much he missed Panther. And Lyall. His two best friends in the world, and he had no idea what happened to either of them.

"Alright then, sir. I shall get to it after finishing this chimera's experimentation" Devon said as he finished the polishing of Demitria's teeth. He rinsed out her mouth and suctioned with the dental suction hose. Devon then took off his medical gloves and disposed of them. He went over, washed his hands, and put on a new pair. The doctor then walked over and checked the lights. They were cool enough now to remove, so he did. He then put in the final set of lights. Devon checked Demitria's eyes and then put in some new drops, as he felt the old ones wore off too much. Devon repositioned the light and performed the same experimentation while taking notes. He made sure the wires attatched to Demitria's face were stuck on well and that the machine was on and recording.

Apsalar could see the sorrow in the face of the Chimera below her, and she wished she dared to speak up and tell him that it was okay. That everything would turn out all right, those who were still free would remain free, and eventually the rest of them would join his companions.
But such optimism had been beaten out of her long ago. Any Chimera who survived more than a year learned that life was not fair, there were no second chances, and that no one was coming to rescue them. So instead of speaking, she gently tilted her head to one side, looking down on him through the ventilation holes with tired amber eyes.
No, she wasn't going to speak. But she could see the guilt, and at the very least, she wanted to forgive him even though he didn't seem to want to forgive himself. Even though Apsalar didn't think there was much to forgive. He'd been caught. It wasn't his fault. Yani just held too much power, always knew where to look. Those who escaped and stayed free...they were flukes. Just flukes.
But she was rambling again.
Very cautiously, she extended her hand. For a second, it pressed against the bottom of the cage. Of course, she couldn't reach him. With a frown, she examined her hands, and eventually slipped one finger through a ventilation hole - all that she could get through without possibly getting stuck.
The only kind of signal for It'll be okay that she could give.
