SubonicXP "That would be me." A woman's voice could be heard coming from behind the two strongmen, the sound of said voice causing them to stand up straight with their chins in the air as if they were soldiers greeting their commanding officer. The pair of men would step to the side to make a little room in between them allowing the source of the voice to step through them and greet Blizzard. "Malva, Elite Four. It's a pleasure to meet the noble hybrid in the flesh." She said, extending a hand out to Blizzard to shake. Out of everyone the hybrid had met in Kalos this woman had the most faintest hint of a Kalosian accent, barely any at all. If Blizzard had ever seen a Holo Caster news segment then this woman would seem very familiar to him. "Consider me to be an unofficial publicity agent for Diantha. Outside of being a member of the Elite Four I am also a news reporter and Holo Caster icon. People just adore watching Diantha battle and I make sure the people get what they want. Would be kind of boring to watch the champion breeze through every battle, don't you think? Much more exciting when there is just the faintest chance of dear champion losing, even though she does always win. Does wonders for viewing numbers all the same. Speaking of, have you thought about a sponsorship yourself?" She asked Blizzard, smiling. He couldn't see her eyes as they were hiding behind red shades but he could feel that even her eyes smiled. (Couldn't remember if Blizzard encountered Malva yet, if he has just ignore most of the introduction.)
The moment that the woman made her presence known, I immediately leaned for a second just to see who it was, only to stand up right when the men finally moved out of the way. "Elite Four Malva, huh...?" I said, taking the woman's hand and giving it a bit of a shake. I started to remember something in passing that was discussed between Lavern and I the last time I was here. "Pleasure. You're now the third elite I've met now...it's making me hoping I can finally see the complete set before I head home. Though, interesting, I can only assume that you're here because of the champion, and nothing more. If word around here has any weight of truth to it, you're not usually one to actually come by this chateau because of your own career...that is the one apart from being one of the elites. A uh...what was it, oh yea, you're a big personality over the Holocaster, one of the biggest if not the biggest." I said in observance. "Sorry about that...Holocasters haven't made their way over to Jhoto yet. Don't know if they are anytime soon. In the meantime...it's just the usual standbys. TV...internet...what have you."
As I listened on to her, I shook my head. "Me? Sponsered? Oh no. I'm already getting enough publicity as is with me just trying to get a few battles around in this chateau. I already had everything planned out at home anyhow. I think I take too much after my teacher on that one."
As I talked with her, while I don't show it, something was making me kind of uneasy. The fact that I saw Flare grunts no more than a couple of minutes ago, and yet they haven't tried starting a fight with me tells me they're trying to stay low key around here. It leaves me to wonder if anyone else here is Flare affiliated as well, which only puts me in that much more of a bind. It kind of makes me wonder if these security guards are Flare affiliated. Maybe Comebuy? Safe bet considering. What about the champion herself? Or at the very least any one of the elites. I can safely say at least Drasna can't be, at the very least. Regardless, the thought of Lysandre having that kind of assault power in his ranks does not bode well. I've fought my fair share of elites and champions, climatic clashes they were, where I won some and lost some, but never before have I ever had to take out one for being part of a organization like Flare. |

Blizzard120 As I talked with her, while I don't show it, something was making me kind of uneasy. The fact that I saw Flare grunts no more than a couple of minutes ago, and yet they haven't tried starting a fight with me tells me they're trying to stay low key around here. It leaves me to wonder if anyone else here is Flare affiliated as well, which only puts me in that much more of a bind. It kind of makes me wonder if these security guards are Flare affiliated. Maybe Comebuy? Safe bet considering. What about the champion herself? Or at the very least any one of the elites. I can safely say at least Drasna can't be, at the very least. If the red flags weren't already rising in my mind with this whole exchange between Malva and I, they were now, for sure. "..." I looked back, staring in confusion, then rubbed the back of my head, stepping forward down the hallway. I really got a bad feeling about this already. |

Wouldn't be long before Blizzard would come upon a gaggle of trainers consisting of males, females, children, and elderly alike. He didn't have to see what they were flocking around to know what it was, or rather who it was.
"Excuse me! Quiet down please!" A woman's voice called out from the center of the crowd, causing the group to become eerily quiet. "Would anyone here like to battle my young friend here?" She asked, the crowd instantly beginning to roar with offers of battle. From what Blizzard could hear though the champion was denying them right and left, for whatever reason. |

"....." I stared in confusion as I started to approach the crowd. Suddenly I thought that the security was just being discriminatory again and not just simply to get the best ones there were for the champion to battle. Though wait a minute...something wasn't right. I can assume the woman that was speaking up was the champion. Though the 'young friend'...I remember the Skiddo hybrid that was mentioned by that one uptight lady earlier today that the champion was escorting. I tried to move around to get a spot to get a better view of what was before me...and maybe perhaps make myself a little more noticeable in the crowd for that matter. Was I right about that? |

SubonicXP "You! Yes, you!" The woman declared, causing the crowd to part as they somehow knew who the champion was pointing to. It was Blizzard and now all eyes were on him. "I know you, in fact I just saw a Holo Cast of a battle you participated in here not long ago." The woman smiled as she approached Blizzard. She was dressed in some sort of short white outfit with a flowing jacket and on back of the jacket what seemed to be wings. Her outfit gave her an almost angelic appearance. She swung her pink designer handbag as she approached Blizzard, a very young hybrid holding her hand tightly as they neared. "The Noble Hybrid. Charmed to meet you." She almost beamed. Blizzard could see right away why the people of Kalos loved their champion, she had this pleasant aura around her, like she was generally a kind person and you knew it just by looking at her. Was a nice change from most of the people in high places in this region. "Capri, this is the Noble Hybrid himself, Duke Blizzard." She said to her young friend, lightly pushing him to the front of her. "B-bonjour monsieur." He stuttered as he held his hand out for Blizzard to shake. The boy couldn't be no more older than Tristen but was certainly far more shy than him.
When I finally managed to get a spot, I perked up, staring in confusion for a second around the crowd then realized that...mission accomplished. Geez, that...didn't take long. That said, I now had a better look of the champion in question. Well...I'll give her attire this much...at least its a couple steps up from Tucker of the Battle Dome. Sure enough however, I also took notice to the young hybrid that she had in tow. Huh, shy one he is.
"Champion Diantha, I presume. Your reputation precedes you. An honor being in your presence, I assure you." I said. I then looked back down when she was bringing attention to the young hybrid. "Hello there. Capri, hm? I got a son about your age. I think you and he would have fun together." I said as I took his hand to shake. |

"Oh, you flatter me." Diantha said in response to Blizzard's comment. "To get right down to business, so to speak, my little friend here is what I'm going a prodigy. Best in his class and has fought his way up to the title of Duke. Can you believe it? So young." She smiled, ruffling the boy's brown hair, causing him to blush. "It's no secret that I intend to see this young man one day be my successor." This comment caused the crowd to murmur and make a few snide comments here and there, obviously they did not like this idea.
"So what do you say? Will you battle my little prodigy? Show him what how people from Johto battle?" She asked Blizzard. |

I had to hold back a disgusted look, managing to hear the various negative quips from the people behind me, but really my focus was on Capri, just to hold up appearances for the time being. "Really now? Well, young one. If becoming champion is anything like how it is in Johto, then you'll have to show your stuff not only to the people here, but against the gyms here in this region. You'll be fighting against trainers a lot tougher than the norm, the gym leaders, the elites, then eventually the champion as well. I should know, I'm the apprentice of the Mahogany Gym and have a great teacher. If Lady Diantha's words hold any truth to it, then I have no doubt that you will do just fine...more than fine, really. I don't mind having a battle if you want to have one to perhaps give you a taste of what is to come." I told the kid. "Don't be nervous. You haven't gotten this far without shying away, have you?" |

"Good luck, m-monsieur." The kid mumbled as he took out a Great Ball and tossed it onto the ground, a Barbaracle appearing from the ball. |

When the kid's ball popped open and revealed the Pokemon, I looked on in a bit of amazement. What...was that. Look like a Shuckle's more mobile and damaging cousin. Though this thing doesn't come off as a bug to me. Rock type at the very least, that much I'm kind of certain of, so Typhlosion is out of the question. Porygon-Z is a thought, same with Psy if I really want to go for the jugular if this kid is as tough as Diantha says he is. How about we just go with someone that has yet to come out on this excursion yet. "Go! Telia!" I called out.
I tossed out the Pokeball and once it hit the ground, the ball popped open and out came out the Gardevoir, ready for battle. "Gardevoir!" Telia spoke up. Telia immediately noticed the Skiddo hybrid, completely ignoring the opponent for the moment. "Garde...Voir!" She spoke up waving over towards the Skiddo hybrid.
"Easy, Telia...Battle first, gush later. Really, do I need to remind you about the Slurpuff the last time you tried something like that?"
Suddenly the recollection of having the flamethrower perm didn't go over well. "Gardevoir." She spoke up, finally squaring off with the Barbaracle.
"Ready when you are." |

SubonicXP Something changed in the Skiddo hybrid as Blizzard uttered those words. The kid's expression would become much more serious and his speech more clear. He was in the zone. "Withdraw!" The kid ordered. In response to the command the Collective Pokemon would pull in its arms, legs, and head into the rock that was the center of its body, letting said rock just fall to the ground motionless. That was a uh, interesting way to start off a battle, retreating.
I stared in confusion for a second. The kid, once meek, now was acting like a serious battler. That being said, the moment the battle truly commensed, and his attack call, left me a a little confused. Withdraw? Seriously? I...really missed a memo on something. Hell, I couldn't even tell anyone the last time I've seen anyone even USE that move. Is he setting up for a combo? Is there a new thing out there that even I don't know? And if not...does he not know that Gardevoirs tend to be Specialized attackers? So many questions, but of course I wasn't one to take a risk so soon, because I'm still left to question just exactly how much of a Protege he is, especially considering he made it to Duke status. Not to mention...hold on. Withdraw? Isn't that usually shared with Water Pokemon? Is this thing honest to god a Water Type as well as a Rock one? Oh boy, this kid is about to get punished hard...
"Voir?" Telia spoke up, looking back towards me.
"Yea, I know, uh...Magical Leaf?" I said, giving a shrug.
"Voir!" Rainbow like leaves formed around Telia rather quickly then soon after the flurry came rushing towards the opposition. |
