Green Tribal Bronze was nothing short of furious. He threw himself once more at his blue brother, taking a swipe at him, herding him well away from what had once been his perfect shell. This day was not going how he'd imagined.
To begin, his blue clutchmate had absolutely no regard for his ire, or position in life. Furthermore, no one was giving him his proper due!
He was a metallic dragon, thank you. He was perfection incarnate. He was a somebody and nobody was oohing, and aahing over him! He had it all planned. He knew when he would make his arrival known and it was all ruined!
All eyes were on his less-than-enthused competition.
Did. He. Stutter?
Louder this time, the bronze reared back and trumpeted once more. He demanded what was his birthright. Power, respect, awe... Why waste time on a bronze who didn't even want to find His?
With one last snap at Blue Teal Glow, the bronze gave a hiss, and turned his red eyes this time on the Candidates.
- - - -
Gold Striped Egg would begin to rock and wiggle, with sudden urgency. Oh! Oh things were happening!
- - - -
Orange Leopard Spot would also begin to twitch, as if the dragonet within was starting to test out the thinness of its shell.

Niviora - She/Her - Western
Her eyebrow arched, meeting his dead-eyed look head on. But the smile that fringed at her lips and threatened to spill over into the serious look she was trying to toss right back at Vimeran. Yet Niviora shrugged slightly, shifting her footing slightly. “Absolutely, but you’re standing with me, sweetheart. Guess you have such a high opinion of yourself too.” If she shifted slightly closer to Vimeran, it wasn’t anything that she would concern herself with thinking about too much. Despite barbed words, his company had been a balm to being left standing, had made the swap trips to High Reaches all the more enjoyable, had empty spaces filled between hatchings writing and passing letters through Royalty all the better.
Her gaze flit to the bronze to hatch first, and a brown -- followed by an egg smashing into another egg, a blue and a bronze so far. All boys. “See? I’m good luck for you -- so many handsome bronzes at the get-go.” The little one more interested in burrowing under his shell had her attention, if only to see what he might do.
----
Dystzha - She/Her - Western
Beaming at Surel, Dystzha shrugged a tiny bit. “Hey, if the worst that happens is we get bowled over by an egg, I’ll count myself lucky -- and marvel at my bruise while it heals.” She giggled slightly, wiping her robes off of any lingering sand as she glanced at Etansi. “No harm! I didn’t even see that egg coming until it wiped me out.”
Her gaze was still lingering a touch on the brown, happy that the little guy was okay. And surprised that such a big brown was curled up in that tiny egg! It sometimes slipped her mind that dragons could come in such varieties -- including egg sizes.
The wave of love from Farvath has her starting slightly -- but not unexpected, and it took her all she had to not look up in the stands for her grandfather, for his dragon -- and the numbered family she had up there watching. No, she had to keep her head, but she hoped Farvath could feel her own love -- and to go give F’gon a hug after all was said and done.
---
Shoxiel - He/His - Western
Shoxiel held his breath slightly, watching as the brown had pranced up to his brother -- yet once he pranced away, he had to stuff away the mild disappointment. Not for himself, but the hopeful tinge of seeing his brother possibly impress. But it was early, and he leans in slightly. “He was so cute.”
---
Iskernyk - He/His - Unaffiliated Standidate
“I can’t help myself, clearly all this rider machismo is overwhelming me. I might need a less distracting seat to observe the actual spectacle.” But he’s pleased at having correctly guessed about Weyr culture, and one of the few things he’s learned about without actually living there. But he gave K’ent’s knee a good-hearted pap, huffing a laugh. “Like your ego needs more flattery.” But he would, later at least. When he’s three cups into his wine at the feast.
He chuckles slightly, shaking his head. “Seems like all the greens are saving themselves for now.” Two bronzes, a brown, and a blue -- all quite lovely little ones, too! Yet he turned to regard the second bronze to hatch, trumpeting and quite bombastic. Certainly he’d be upset too at such a rude awakening. Poor thing.

Rundanrul
Rundanrul held very still as Yellow Swirl weaved around him and tried very, very hard to keep his dislike internal. Browns were fine, but there were two bronzes on the sands and he'd much rather have their attention. One was sulking, trying to shove his way back into his shell, and the other had just been smashed open by his blue brother.
Finally Yellow Swirl went to bother another candidate just as Green Tribal gave another roar. That drew Rundanrul's full attention to him, and wasn't he magnificent? You have his full attention, little bronze, and his full admiration. He didn't hide the desire from Green Tribal, mentally reaching out.
You have every right to be angry. Smashed open like that...a magnificent bronze like you, completely disrespected by that foolhardy blue. He knew the bronze was angry, it was easy to see in his red eyes, but if Rundanrul was going down he'd rather it be at the claws of a bronze than a rolling egg.

Matotoka
Matotoka didn't frown, persay, but watched with a muted interested as the angrier of the two bronze brothers currently on the sands first herded one brother away, then turned on the candidates. Mmmmm. Noted.
I know someone who is that way too, he thought to himself, peering across the sands to where his younger brother stood (currently) alone. Perhaps an ideal pairing? He'd not think about it long before another egg - that egg - started to move and his attention was divided from the red eyed bronze to the Leopard Spotted Egg.
What would it be?
Could he watch and not need to be prepared to duck and cover from the hatched dragon on the sands?
-----
Kadosse
Kadosse let out a small squeak as the second hatched bronze started to make a show of his upset, demanding his due attention. Even though she would have preferred to focus on her little striped friend, who was rocking, she would stared transfixed at the Green Tribal Bronze instead.
-----
Juhvek
"That one is fairly friendly," Juhvek had noted of the Yellow Swirl brown, only for a moment, when one of the bronze brothers started to trumpet and hiss, drawing the man forward to stand between it and the two sisters. "He's less happy right now. Be ready to move, alright?" he instructed cooly. No, the young dragon hadn't started any sort of charge yet, but Juhvek wasn't going to let 'yet' be an excuse for Oranie OR Elibrie getting hurt if something did happen.
-----
Josen
Josen was rightfully intimidated by the angry dragon, but kept his head about him, folding his arms and standing up straight. What a first impression he was making right now, and Josen was taking note. What a temper! What a personality!
Certainly getting nippy was getting him the attention he wanted, now wasn't it?

"Erh." En'cai scrubbed his knuckles along the edge of his jaw, thinking. Did he have favorites? Not really, not this time. But. His grin widened again as his hand dropped ito his lap. "Got to admit, I'm pretty biased when it comes to who I think should hatch first. I mean." One shoulder rose and fell. "Bronze. I think it'll be a bronze. I don't know which one, but a bronze." He nodded decisively. "What about you?"
That would be a great help, Eorawth, Spurth answered eagerly. Mine means well, but if he gets distracted, he'll forget to pass on everything. And a Hatching is very distracting.
He was right (of course, the rider would have said) and with each new bronze that cracked its shell, En'cai -- stopped himself from punching Z'haq in the shoulder. Instead, he'd just lean over and murmur, "And there's another one."
Except the bronze that hat hatched from the Green Tribal egg was displaying temper now, and En'cai leaned forward on his seat. "Not good. That's not good," he said, half to himself, and half to Z'haq. "That's not good, right?"

Sivu - [He/Him] - Western Weyr So much was happening - moving. Sivu’s eyes followed eggs twitching, shells rocking. Each of the young dragons looked strong, healthy. Some… a little happier than others. That trumpeting did not sound pleased. Sivu heard the snap of jaws and saw red whirling eyes - oh.. Dear. Sivu’s thoughts stayed gentle rather than fearful, having taken his lessons to heart. If he needed to move out of this darling creatures way he would! - he hoped they would find their’s without having to lift their claws. His eyes were on him, just as the bronze wished.
Loctius - [He/Him] - Western Weyr
Loctius tore his eyes away from the brown who had rubbed past him. He was...a little nervous. Being who he was ah, deep down, he hope it wouldn’t draw a bronze’s ire for that reason. Masculinity, gender, what a nervous beast those were. A deep breath, a stolen glance up at Shalbyath and Nona, and he was feeling a little better. A little more grounded and himself. He knew himself, his family did, and if any dragon found him worthy - they'd know his mind and heart. A solid breath in, out. It was fine.

Trude
Trude was becoming increasingly excited as more eggs began to move and hatch. A little blue, and another bronze! But oh, that bronze wasn't happy, was he? Her mouth made a little O in shock as the bronze hatchling gave a baby roar and lashed out at the blue. Oh, don't fight, babies! she thought, trying to keep herself calm and welcoming. She didn't want to see any blood or ichor shed today!
~~~~~ Tyanan
Now there were TWO bronzes on the sands, and they both seemed to have attitude problems. Tyanan smiled a little at how angry the Green Tribal bronze seemed with his blue brother. Silly bronze, picking on a smaller baby. He saw the Butterfly bronze attempt to hide in his empty shell and chuckled. Oh, baby dragon antics. Hopefully they would find Theirs on the sands and end up happier, or at least less disagreeable.
~~~~~ Ansirien
How Ansirien managed to avoid the splatter of egg goo while his sister got hit was beyond him. He stared for a split second, then it was all he could do not to laugh out loud at Zae. There was no way on Pern that he was going to actually laugh, though -- he would have gotten escorted off the sands by A'ral so fast his head would have spun. "You okay?" he said to her, voice soft, one eye on the dragonets on the sands.

Zhaydegan Zhaydegan had cheerfully called back, "Yeah, see you later!" as Dystzha darted away to stand near other friends. However the day shook out, he'd know where to find her and he would check in.
But for now, the eggs and the dragons and Savindri had his attention. "I couldn't stand it, if I was a dragonet, I think," he admitted. "The second that shell got thin enough, I'd jam a foot through so I could get out." Content to sit back and wait was definitely not Zhaydegan's style.
And despite the heat, he didn't get around to pushing Savindri away or stepping away himself. He was too transfixed by vibrating eggs and cracking shells and ...
Noppe. Red eyes was bad. Tackling his blue brother was bad. It was instinct, really, or something not entirely conscious that made him knot his fingers in Savindri's sleeve when the bronze with a temper looked toward the Candidates. "Watch out," he murmured lowly. "Just watch out."

Z'haq of Bronze Eorawth
"That's two!" Z'haq was fairly gleeful as the Green Tribal egg revealed a second bronze. All he needed was one more, and ONLY one more, and he'd win that wager. "I have to say, I'm pretty biased too, and likely for the same reason." He reached out to touch Eorawth's thoughts lovingly.
We have two little bronzes on the sands, one brown, and one blue, Eorawth advised Spurth. One of the bronzes is yelling at the blue, and the other bronze is hiding under its shell, though he's more cross than anything. Interesting...
Z'haq's expression turned serious when the Green Tribal bronze roared and lashed out at his blue brother. "No, that's not good. He could easily kill that little blue." He glanced toward gold Khamaith. "I'd hope the gold would step in if things escalated, but this is her first clutch and she might be too inexperienced to intercede..."

Surel - Western
Surel offered Dystzha a weak laugh and smile in return, still a little shaken from being thrown to the ground. And now there were noises and a red-eyed bronze was standing in the middle of the sands, drawing all eyes to him. She knew there was no chance of her impressing the Green Tribal bronze but she felt like if she didn't look she'd be singled out and he'd take his rage out on her. Not wanting to be at the mercy of another dragon, she subconsciously shifted a little closer to Dystzha and bit behind Estani. She knew what to do if she was attacked - let it happen, protect your neck and curl up - but that didn't mean she was ready to be charged by a fully hatched dragon.
---
Vimeran
Niviora's retort nearly drew a groan of frustration from Vimeran. Had they not been on the sands in the middle of a hatching it certainly would have, but he was trying to be somewhat respectful to the babies that were hatching. He gave a little huff at her bronze comment and eyed up the aforementioned dragons. One looked like it was ready to rampage, the other disinterested and hiding in its shell. Not ideal for him, but certainly there was someone here that would be glad for them. Vimeran didn't care what color his future partner was, he just hoped he'd find his eventually.
"Lots more to hatch," he said quietly in return. "Just because they're bronze doesn't mean they're for me."
---
T'sar
"Are greens your favorite?" T'sar asked as he watched the freshly smashed bronze give a trumpet while the other three continued to do their own thing. K'ent rode a green and there was certainly nothing wrong with that, but he could feel Adarith's irritation in his mind and he glanced up, watching his dark dragon shift on his ledge.
I never said greens were my favorite, you jealous lump.
He was met with a little growl and a huff, but Adarith said nothing. He gave a soft snort before glancing back at the sands, waiting an answer from Iskernyk.
