Maybe I should post some examples...
Fairy Shoes are worth 700 gold. I want them. 700/300 = 2.333 So fairy shoes would be worth 2 ducks.
Cat Tail is worth 2,000 gold. I want that as well. 2000/300 = 6.6667 So cat tail is worth 7 ducks.
So, it's dividing the items worth and rounding...
sweatdrop As for event or other special items, they most likely be based on market value.
