Aoife touched her own face. "I have not cried." She shook her head. "Ever."

Joey put his hand on her shoulder. "Then so be it. Whether it be good or bad, so be it." He smiled at her and removed his hand. "Would you like to know anything else?

Aoife nodded. "How do you start out small then get big?" Having never been around anyone for longer than a few days had only seen small humans. She had never been small, from creation she'd been this size.

Joey smiled. "Well, when we are just babies, we are small and tiny, basically helpless without our mothers. We begin to eat more and gain nutrients esential for living and we begin to grow. Eventually, we stop growing, but that is several years later."

The tiny creature examined him with its enormous eyes for several seconds. Then it began to chitter again, but at the same time a high-pitched, childish, but definitely female voice began to squeak, "Hi! Hihihi! I'm Nellie! NellieNellieNell! You? Who are you? How are you? What are you?"
Katalina looked impressed. "She's young for that amount of talent," she told Joshua, speaking normally now that the undines had adjusted to them being there. "I'm surprised she can speak at all." Telepaths, sure, but nearly all sea creatures were. Sometimes it was inconvenient to speak underwater. Katalina could hear...Nellie, was it?...even if the words weren't directed at her.
A few of the other undines shifted a little closer, cautiously. They watched Joshua carefully, but oddly, they seemed to have no misgivings whatsoever about Katalina.

Joey nodded. "As far as I can tell, yes." He smiled. Joey looked around and thought, Joshua, just wait until you get back. Man do I have a surprise for you.

Aoife tilted her head. "Where do you live?"

Joshua laughed at the little undine. 'Hello Nellie.' He smiled at the undine in his arms. 'My name is Joshua. And I am a human.' He was aware of the other undines watching him, but decided not to react. He would stay true to himself and undine would accept him or not. Simple as that. Though he hoped they would trust him. They were amazing beings. Amazing and fascinating, with so little known about them.

Joey turned and smiled at her, his eyes holding nothing but kindness. Though there seemed to be a shadow in them, the shadow of his despair and suffering. "It's alright. I was trying to get out of this cove before, anyway." He indicated to his still damaged boat, which was marooned in the shore. "My friend offered me a place to stay, so I don't know if I want to stay or go."

Aoife smile also vanished. "I seem to not be... able to talk right to people." She turned her face away, her back fins seemed to go a little slack.
