Octavia was quite proud of her and Zangoth, they were doing well and she hoped that they continued to fly like they had been since first coming into the fight. They got nicked by a few strands and repeated what they had done earlier and came back at it without a hiccup!

As they shifted levels again, Ahlalei and Kalikath kept up vigilant watch on their wing. They were thankful for the new wave coming in as well as it was getting tiring up here.

All of the sounds of fear and pain sent Altoth's mind a mile a minute, even as W'tarl cut through her nerves with his accurate assessments of what they were doing.
Over there, W'tarl instructed gently, giving her the perfect image in her mind to between to. But nerves shook up everything and upon emerging...it was far closer to a clump of thread than they'd meant to be. It struck right against her wing-shoulder and spattered up over her back, causing her to cry out in pain and alarm. W'tarl firmly sent them back between and out again - the thread dead and gone from doing more damage...
but now Altoth was extra shaken with an unpleasant score across her shoulder.

That spark of confidence, so new, was instantly shaken when Cynosuth, instead of flaming thread, flamed one of her fellow weyrlings. Mine! Mine, I hurt someone!
... And when that someone came into view...
I hurt Menankith! she cried, aggrieved. Oh no. Oh, oh, no! OH NO! Oh, oh, why had she... why hadn't she... how had she missed him?? I'M SO SORRY! I'M SORRY, PLEASEforgiveme.

Thread was, of course, much heavier up at the higher altitude, and only to be expected, but Dobrokhoth found himself with a bad feeling about a particular patch of it, and warbled out a warning to one of their wingmates to let it go - and he was right! The wind changed, gusting it and them about, but because of his warning, neither of them were harmed, and were able to flame it from the sky.

Maybe it was the anxiety of having the wings change out, maybe it was excitement and a renewed energy. Either way, Kalikath got a little ahead of himself as he tried to get a clump of Thread. To both their surprises, the flame was long enough in length and time to burn it to ash.

Gareth spun back around and into the fight, seeing Thread being blown in front of them. It was easy enough for the bronze to open his maw and then belch a large flame, destroying all three of the clumps easily.

The wind pickedup and T'nor buckled down against his bronze as they were shoved off course and right into some thread. They were not doing so hot and he could feel the pain his dragon felt even as they blinked between to kill the thread before it did more damage. Ouch.
6. A strong gust of wind suddenly pushes you off course and right into a sliver of Thread! If you're a bronze or brown, you or your dragon take a scathing hit, unable to get out of the way. Another clump of thread fell into their ranks. Dormith burned it up immediately, eyes whirling orange and red. Oh, how he hated this stuff, even before he knew what it was. It rumbled inside of him, and he was fortunate to be able to let it out.

Let's try that again, then. kalikath replied and dove for a bit of Thread. Only, before he flamed he jerked sideways back on himself surprising Ahlalei. wha? The wind changed and the clump came flying at where Kalikath's face had been. Oh. That was close. And then the thread was burned to ash.
Round 3, roll 3: Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]

They were doing well, though when changeover came, S'del felt his heart jump to his throat. Well. A'ye was a good Threadfighter. He was an older rider, well prepared for this... They'd be all right. Be safe, Oyath. It is a hard battle today, but I'm sure you will get through. You are a fierce green. The Thread would be too afraid of her. Yes. There was nothing to worry about...nothing at all.
At the touch of Cynosuth the dragon gave a happy rumble. My face is well enough. Your healer-weyrling-rider did well, and I am certain my stitches are in place. Nevermind that the dragon was still covered in numbweed. Be safe up here, little-starry-green! It is very windy, and the Thread is very heavy.

M'nr returned shortly with a healer, who carefully ran a hand over the offending splatter of burns on Cordrath's face. He kept one eye shut, but upon being bidded, he opened it and the healer scrunched her nose up at it.
"How's his vision?" the young man asked and M'nr blinked his own eye a few times, before prodding his bonded mentally. Cordrath nudged him back, before resuming his task of drowning his children in reassuring affection. Oh yes, daddy was fine, he loves you, everything is fine. "He seems to have no issues with it," M'nr responded.
The young man nodded and was off again, returning shortly with some chemistry pot full of some sort of mash of herbs and liquid, which he smeared liberally across the offending burns. "It'll leave a little bit of a mark, but you may be the only one who really notices it. It was rather close to his eye, though, so don't let any vision issues go unchecked, alright? You're good to go."
M'nr thanked the healer graciously as he climbed back up in Cordrath's straps. The bronze stretched out his wings before blinking away into the sky.

Octavia was so proud of her blue, not that she was never proud of him. She hoped that the rest of her wing was doing just as well. The duo twisted and turned, fire spitting forth from Zangoths mouth as they took down thread from the sky like it was next to nothing. 'Look at you go my beautiful blue!' She praised him as they continued to fight the good fight.

The Thread at this level was sparser and gave Ahlalei a chance to look over Kalikath more completely than she had before then. It was remarkable how little threadscore the dragon had. They were doing well. And then the clumps fell in front of them again. No time to dilly-dally. We have Thread to burn.
