Katalina watched Joshua. She'd liked him before, but she thought even better of him after seeing how gently he handled the little creature. She crossed her fingers, hoping that the older, more cautious undines also thought well of him for this, and would accept him for who he was. Even though he was human, there were things they could learn, just like him.
Nellie giggled and bounced up and down. "JoshuaJosh!" It was something like a two-year-old squealing at the top of its lungs. Katalina hoped wryly that not all the undine youngsters were as excitable as this one. "You visit us? Say hihi?" the nymph continued at approximately the speed of light. "Mamamamama! Say hihi!"
Cautiously, a larger undine approached, examining Joshua through very dark blue eyes. She said nothing, only watched, as though expecting him to make the first move.

Aoife sighed. "It's not as nice, I think it would be better with legs." She smiled a little sadly. "Thank you." She said sincerely.

He continued to move. "For what? I didn't do anything special." He shrugged and smiled kindly. "Be careful of what you wish for because you just might get it. And then some."

Aoife didn't quite understand the logic but nodded. "So your friend that is wanting to have you stay? Is it same friend who is called Joshua?"

"Yes, that is correct. He said that I could stay." He continued, a wave almost knocking him over.

She supported him so he wouldn't fall, adjusting her hand so it wasn't resting near his neck but held his shoulder. "You fight the water. It fights back."

He nodded, remembering how his mother had said something like that. "This is my first time dancing in water. It has a different feel to it. It makes things interesting."

Aoife smiled. "I think you find my water interesting, almost as I think your land is."

Joey thought for a moment, then said. "True, though the one who is crazy about the ocean is Joshua. He hates the land, but loves the ocean with a passion. Me, I was born and raised here, so it is just part of my li-" he was cut off as he stepped in a hole that he couldn't see. He fell into the water.

Joey was pulled out of the water. He coughed and said, "Yea, I'm fine, thanks..." He blushed when he realized how close he was to her. He looked away and put his feet under him.

"Here." She knocked his feet out from under him and pulled him a little further in. "Just relax, you have problem with doing that."

The moment she had knocked his feet out, Joey went with his instincts and began to swim. He then realized that she had him and blushed a bit more when she pulled him closer. He did as she said and relaxed. "Ok, ok..."

She smiled. "Best way to swim is use the water, not your strength to pull you against it."

He smiled. He was hit by a feeling of deja vu. It reminded him of his mother's swimming lessons. She used to say the exact same thing...His face fell slightly, though he hid it well. "Yea, I know. My mother used to tell me that. She taught me how to swim."
