Cornelius was the type of person to keep his affairs to himself. He had no idea when or how he had found out about his wife's unfaithfulness. He wasn't even sure the entire story was true. When he was given the job it was the popular rumor at the time. By now, most of the men had forgotten about the whole thing. There was always fresh gossip to look forward to so something as mundane as cheating was not something to hold their attention for long. Cornelius though, whatever it was he was planning he still wanted to see Abel out of the picture. He would not rest until there was definitive proof that the deed was done. So it was as he said, Abel was stuck with him.

As he spoke of his boss, Abel shrugged and seemed somewhat amused. As he spoke, he knew it to be rhetorical as the answer was obvious. Just as it was for any of the other bosses. Their wives, their families, and anyone else associated them. Those people were off limits as it would be most unwise to go against them.

Jakob couldn't help to be annoyed as Abel accused him of trying to hurt Kieran. It was an absolute insult to even suggest. In all of their time together he could have easily raised his hand, hurt his feelings, used him as a stepping stone. Instead, he met with him on selfish desires wanting nothing more than his company. He would have liked nothing more than to punch him in his smug face. Instead, he questioned him endlessly. Abel took amusement from him once again before speaking. His eyebrow raised curiously. What sort of an answer was that?

Indeed, in the last few weeks he had not been told much of anything. During the first few weeks of contact, his messages were expected filed with content about his day and telling him that he wanted to kiss him. By the end of the second week, Jakob was lucky if he would get an answer from him within a few hours as it seemed Kieran was distancing himself. He tried asking him what was wrong and was met with silence. It was about that same time that he noticed Kieran's car was no longer home.

He saw no real reason he couldn't tell Abel that he wasn't in contact with Kieran at the moment. He had a feeling that Kieran might be avoiding him as well. He was curious though if Abel knew anything. As his best friend and roommate, he would like to think that Abel would know at least this much. After a moment of silence Abel spoke at last. Again he found his words to be calculated. He noted the annoyed tone and the dark look in his eyes. Most of all, he noted the mention of a parent.

Kieran had never told him anything about his parents. He wasn't even sure he had any. A part of him had assumed that they both died when he was a child. It was because of this thinking that he thought that was how Abel saved him. "It's because he's more human than you or I." he said, picking up his drink. He hated to admit it, but on some level both he and Abel were alike. Strong-willed, short tempered, more evil than most, and quite proud of it.

It was true that family was off limits but that didn't mean they couldn't kill each other. He had nothing against Cornelius. Abel didn't really have as many people working for him. He preferred a more hands on approach instead of making other people do it.

Abel can't help but give Miguel a hard time. He never saw Kieran with anyone for too long. Just because Miguel was trying to kill him didn't mean that Kieran couldn't be an adult in a relationship. Abel was merely being judgemental for Kieran's sake but it wasn't necessary.

Questioning Miguel, he was merely curious how much they had spent together. Abel didn't think it was long but still. It didn't stop him from being nosey. He knew where Kieran was and what he was doing. Abel questioned Miguel because he was worried about Kieran's mental well being.

As he explained where Kieran was, Abel listened as Miguel spoke. He found his words laughable though true in a way. Abel rolled his eyes, "Perhaps but if I had a mother who abused me, I would have killed her." He spoke as a matter of fact. Abel knew it would do harm to tell Miguel, Kieran's business but he wanted him to understand him a little better. After all he knew Kieran wouldn't.

It was true that they hadn't been together for very long. He saw no reason to let Abel know that. Though the way he was questioning him, he was sure they would get to that eventually. It had been some time since he was questioned like this. While he found Abel to be annoying, his questions were valid.

When Abel spoke of Kieran's mother, he didn't think much of it. To him it just showed how much of a better person Kieran was compared to the two of them. Lifting his drink, he watched as the man rolled his eyes. He started to take a sip of his drink as the man spoke again. He paused as he spoke of abuse. Kieran had never told him such things. He hardly told him anything about himself for that matter. Jakob soon swallowed his drink and shrugged lightly. "Like I said, more human. Besides that, you're one maniacally laugh away from being an animated villain. So of course you would want to kill her." he replied.

Inside his head, he wasn't too sure what to think of Kieran now. If he was being honest, he would have much done the same as Abel. Perhaps this was his way of saying good-bye. Not just to her but all she had done. He didn't know the specifics. But from Abel's reaction it was enough to guess that it was nothing good. Then again, any form of abuse never was.

Kieran was a private person. He didn't really really talk to Abel about anything. Abel left him to be after all he would have stopped Kieran. There was no reason for him to try and act like everything was fine. He didn't want to invade by joining him after all he knew Kieran would eventually return.

Talking to Miguel about Kieran's childhood was not the smartest but it needed to be out there. Abel wanted Miguel to understand Kieran but also their relationship. He didn't want Kieran to continue hiding. Abel knew he would never tell without a bit of force.

Sitting there he watched Miguel listening to him speak. Abel smiled lightly, "Hmm yes well thank you for your commentary." He spoke grabbing his drink and taking a sip. "Well I'd think any person would kill their mother if she pimped them out for drug money." Abel spoke rolling his eyes slightly.

Unlike Abel he saw no reason to force Kieran to speak about his past. After all they all done some damnable things in their time. There was no need to go about the room in a circle sharing sins. Yet, here Abel sat spilling all of his supposed friends deeds of the past. As though he really needed to hear them. He still had no idea Abel felt the need to tell him these things, but his curiosity is what made him decide to allow him to keep talking. He supposed it was better than getting his face smashed in or tied up again.

He down the rest of his drink as Abel spoke of an abuse he had no idea occurred. While it saddened him, it wasn't at all surprising. Many people in this line of work came from similar backgrounds. For people like Abel and himself, they were the odd ones. The ones who grew up in what could be considered a normal, loving household. Many would wonder why they turned to a life of crime when there was so much opportunity to do something more.

As he spoke again, he watched Abel smile. Though there was something hidden there. He wasn't exactly sure what it could be, but it was the ghost of something. Setting the empty glass down, he nodded as Abel thanked him. Jakob sat back in his chair and made himself comfortable. What came out Abel's mouth next was completely unexpected. He was careful to keep his face blank. Though the words gripped at his core. Watching Abel roll his eyes he wanted to believe it was a lie. "You're bluffing." is what he said. Deep down he didn't even believe himself. No person would lie about something like that. Not even someone as despicable as Abel.

There was no reason for Abel to lie what would be the point. He knew that such a thing was a surprise. Abel could see the wheels turning in Miguel's face even if it was blank. He knew that such words were hard to believe but they were true. Abel shook his head, "Why would I lie about such things what's to gain?" He spoke reasonably and honestly. Abel knew that Kieran might be mad at him but he would forgive him. He wanted Miguel to understand him and know about his past. After all it wasn't like Kieran would give up any information.

Indeed, there was no good reason that Abel would want to lie about such a disgusting crime. There was nothing to gain by telling him such a secret. Then again, there was also no good reason to tell him either. Jakob had already accepted the fact that what he had with Kieran was likely to be temporary. And with that he likely would never know every aspect of his life. Whatever Kieran decided to tell him was his decision. He would never force him. For whatever reason though, Abel seemed to think different. He greatly disliked the way he was telling him these secrets as if they were his own. Then again, he also disliked the way he wanted to be told more.

After trying to deny Abel's words he sat there feeling stunned. He had carefully arranged his face not to give him away. But his words did so anyway. He watched as the man shook his head and and questioned him again. "I-I-I don't know...Perhaps you're hoping something like this will make me run away. You'd rather see Kieran at home and alone with you? Rather than him going out, having fun, and dating your enemy." he rambled. Jakob knew his words made no sense, but in this moment they would have to do. He didn't want to believe anything Abel was saying until he was able to hear it straight from his own mouth.

Abel didn’t hate Miguel for dating Kieran. Hell more power to him, however he just didn’t want to see Kieran hurt. Abel didn’t think Miguel would hurt Kieran, after all he seemed to make him happy. He couldn’t remember the last time Kieran brought someone into their home. Not because Miguel wanted to kill him, but because he wanted to spend time with Kieran. It surprised him to know they were getting along, but he didn’t object.

Speaking toward Miguel, he found him an open book and easy to piss off. Abel found it amusing but knew not to push his luck. He didn’t need Miguel trying to kill him here and now in the club. Abel watched as Miguel tried to process his words. He listened as Miguel spoke accusing him of trying to keep Kieran all to himself. Abel found it amusing, as he listened to him continue to ramble.

”I have nothing against you, you are merely doing your job and I would expect nothing less. As for Kieran, he’s an adult, if he wants to ******** and have fun with you until this all blows over and is finished, that’s his business.” Abel spoke shifting to stand, as he he looked down at Miguel. He moved closer toward him, as he leaned over and touched the arm rests of Miguel’s chair.

Abel stood before Miguel, ”Besides if I hated all this, you wouldn’t be here...You’d be dead like all the rest, and Kieran wouldn’t have been able to save you when I strung you up in my basement…” He stood glaring slightly at Miguel. Abel would have been more than pleased to kill Miguel but he hadn’t. ”Now, believe me, or don’t… but you can ask Kieran when he gets back home in a couple days.” He spoke having gotten a text from Kieran, while he was away. Abel knew he would be coming home, after all he didn’t think Kieran had been keeping in contact with his boytoy here.

He didn't understand where all this was coming from all of sudden. In all his time together with Kieran it had never been his intention to harm him. And even before then he had no such intentions. Kieran knew this much, so why couldn't Abel figure it out. Somehow it seemed as though he had gotten this notion into his head that he was only dating Kieran to get at him. Which wasn't the case at all. What Jakob had with Kieran had absolutely nothing to do with his job. He wished the man would understand that.

As he was questioned again his brain tried to think of other reasons the man might tell him such an obvious lie. Deep down, he knew it wasn't a lie. Sick as it was for once Abel was telling him the truth. Jakob called his bluff but didn't believe it himself. He looked away from the man to avoid his watchful gaze. It was unsettling how easy the man could see right through. Jakob heard him speak again, hardly believing that he wasn't taking any of this personal.

The sound of movement caught his attention. Jakob looked up to see the man coming closer to him. He hated to admit it, but he felt a fear similar to that which he felt in the basement. Jakob tried to move away from Abel. He was far too close for his comfort. But given his position there was nowhere left to go. Not unless he planned on causing Abel physical harm. Watching Abel speak he could see his own reflection in his dark eyes. His jaw tensed as he glared back at Abel. He wanted to argue, tell him how wrong he was. But once again he knew that Abel was telling him the truth.

He said nothing in response. After all, how does one really respond to such a thing. He was aware that he owed his life to Kieran. It was thanks to that, that he was extending that gratitude towards Abel. Until Kieran grew tired of the man, Abel got to live.

As the man spoke again, his face softened a bit before fading into a neutral expression. So he was answering his phone. He just wasn't talking to him. "No, no, I believe you." he said softly. "You're his best friend and all. So of course he'd tell you...Uh, anyway, are we done here?" Clearing his throat, Jakob looked back up at the man. If there was nothing more, he was going home. Even if they weren't done, he still wanted to leave. He tired of talking to Abel.

There was not more to discuss with Miguel. After all they had both said plenty. Abel watched Miguel as he seemed to believe his words. He also caught a bit of hurt only confirming that Kieran wasn't keeping in contact with him. Abel didn't blame him after all what good would it do. He nodded simply as Miguel questioned him. "Sure, we're done here unless you want to come back to my place." Abel spoke suggestively just to piss Miguel off. He took amusement out of pissing Miguel off. Abel thought about teasing Miguel further by touching him but he worried about losing a finger or two.

In the time he had spent talking with Abel was more than he had spoken with anyone in weeks. He felt there was nothing else left to say and was ready to get the hell away from him. Still, Abel had proved himself somewhat useful. He had learned something new about his boyfriends hidden past. As well as when he should be expecting him home. He wouldn't thank him though. Didn't want to give Abel the satisfaction. Instead he questioned him, making his wanting to go known. Still invading his space, the man spoke in a suggestive tone. Just as Abel intended, he felt a bit of anger. How dare he think so little of him, that he would actually cheat on Kieran. Well, two could play that game. Leaning forward, he sat just a breath away from the man's face. "Hmm, tempting. If you weren't such a freak." he said in a seductive tone. Smirking, he sat back once more. "I hate to disappoint you, but I don't cheat."

The idea of Miguel being a cheat didn't bother him. Abel merely wanted to make Miguel mad. He found he enjoyed that side of him. Abel watched as Miguel leaned closer toward him. He listened as Miguel spoke seductively in return. Abel laughed softly as Miguel pulled back. "Mm, well thank you." He spoke as he watched Miguel. Abel pulled back, "Good to know, see you around then." He moved back from Miguel. Abel waved slightly before heading toward the VIP exit. There was nothing keeping him here anymore. He found that finding someone to ******** and torture was in his best interest right now.

Even if he was tempted, he wouldn't sleep with Abel. The last thing he wanted to do was betray Kieran's trust. Not only that, it was obvious he was only doing this to get a rise out of him. Jakob could play his game, but it would be on his terms. He dared to get in his face and speak as though he wanted nothing more than to be thrown on to the table behind them. His eyes narrowed as Abel laughed and thanked him. As he sat back and rejected him, Abel pulled away. "Yeah, yeah. See ya." he replied. Jakob ignored Abel as he waved. He sat there a few minutes waiting for him to leave.

After a few minutes passed, Jakob rose from his seat. He didn't bother leaving anything for his drink as he figured Abel had some kind of open tab. He walked over to the area he saw the man leave and headed back down to the main area. Jakob didn't bother looking for the man, he figured he was long gone by now. Weaving through the crowd, Jakob soon reached the main exit and went outside. Walking a little ways from the club, he pulled out his phone, and pulled up his boyfriends' number. The thought to tell him everything that had just happened was tempting. But he didn't want to worry him. Instead he sighed and stuffed the phone away without saying anything. He looked back at the club tempted to go back in there and take Abel up on his offer. Before he could give in, Jakob started to walk in the direction of home.

Leaving the club, Abel didn't look back. He was curious about Miguel. Abel had offered to take him home for a nice ********. He didn't hear too much of a no. Abel though couldn't help himself. He was curious, he didn't think Miguel would object. Abel didn't mind though as he pulled his keys from his pocket. He unlocked his car with his key fob. Abel hated to drive but it was necessary at times. He opened his door slipping in and shutting the door. Abel moved to turn his car on. He buckled himself in and backed out of the parking spot. Abel drove out of the parking lot and down the road. He spotted a familiar face. Abel pulled up next to Miguel. He couldn't help but tease Miguel. Abel rolled down his window, "Can I offer you a ride home?" He spoke smiling at Miguel. Abel had no interest in hurting Miguel unless he asked for it.

Walking away from the club he had a lot on his mind. He wasn't sure how much Abel had told him was the truth. As much as he hated to admit it, nearly all of it felt like he was being honest. While he didn't like the man, he did have a point. What could he possibly gain by lying to him? He wished Kieran were here. He wanted nothing more than to talk to him about all of this. But it seemed as though they still had a few days before he would be home. Even then he probably would not hear from him as he would likely be tired from traveling and taking care of his family. Jakob continued down the street, he hardly noticed the cars coming and going beside him. That is, until he noticed one in particular following behind him.

Jakob tried his best to ignore the car. He hoped it would just pass by and keep going. Unfortunately, he heard an all too familiar voice. Rolling his eyes, he turned around to see Abel smiling at him. On anyone else it might have been considered friendly. On Abel, it was just unnerving. "Thought you weren't in a rush to die." he replied sarcastically. Turning away from Abel, Jakob started to walk around. He heard the break release and the tires moving behind him. He didn't know why tonight of all nights the man wanted to be friendly. He would have thought there were other people he could go bother.
