Cornelius was the type of person to keep his affairs to himself. He had no idea when or how he had found out about his wife's unfaithfulness. He wasn't even sure the entire story was true. When he was given the job it was the popular rumor at the time. By now, most of the men had forgotten about the whole thing. There was always fresh gossip to look forward to so something as mundane as cheating was not something to hold their attention for long. Cornelius though, whatever it was he was planning he still wanted to see Abel out of the picture. He would not rest until there was definitive proof that the deed was done. So it was as he said, Abel was stuck with him.
As he spoke of his boss, Abel shrugged and seemed somewhat amused. As he spoke, he knew it to be rhetorical as the answer was obvious. Just as it was for any of the other bosses. Their wives, their families, and anyone else associated them. Those people were off limits as it would be most unwise to go against them.
Jakob couldn't help to be annoyed as Abel accused him of trying to hurt Kieran. It was an absolute insult to even suggest. In all of their time together he could have easily raised his hand, hurt his feelings, used him as a stepping stone. Instead, he met with him on selfish desires wanting nothing more than his company. He would have liked nothing more than to punch him in his smug face. Instead, he questioned him endlessly. Abel took amusement from him once again before speaking. His eyebrow raised curiously. What sort of an answer was that?
Indeed, in the last few weeks he had not been told much of anything. During the first few weeks of contact, his messages were expected filed with content about his day and telling him that he wanted to kiss him. By the end of the second week, Jakob was lucky if he would get an answer from him within a few hours as it seemed Kieran was distancing himself. He tried asking him what was wrong and was met with silence. It was about that same time that he noticed Kieran's car was no longer home.
He saw no real reason he couldn't tell Abel that he wasn't in contact with Kieran at the moment. He had a feeling that Kieran might be avoiding him as well. He was curious though if Abel knew anything. As his best friend and roommate, he would like to think that Abel would know at least this much. After a moment of silence Abel spoke at last. Again he found his words to be calculated. He noted the annoyed tone and the dark look in his eyes. Most of all, he noted the mention of a parent.
Kieran had never told him anything about his parents. He wasn't even sure he had any. A part of him had assumed that they both died when he was a child. It was because of this thinking that he thought that was how Abel saved him. "It's because he's more human than you or I." he said, picking up his drink. He hated to admit it, but on some level both he and Abel were alike. Strong-willed, short tempered, more evil than most, and quite proud of it.

Abel didn’t hate Miguel for dating Kieran. Hell more power to him, however he just didn’t want to see Kieran hurt. Abel didn’t think Miguel would hurt Kieran, after all he seemed to make him happy. He couldn’t remember the last time Kieran brought someone into their home. Not because Miguel wanted to kill him, but because he wanted to spend time with Kieran. It surprised him to know they were getting along, but he didn’t object.
Speaking toward Miguel, he found him an open book and easy to piss off. Abel found it amusing but knew not to push his luck. He didn’t need Miguel trying to kill him here and now in the club. Abel watched as Miguel tried to process his words. He listened as Miguel spoke accusing him of trying to keep Kieran all to himself. Abel found it amusing, as he listened to him continue to ramble.
”I have nothing against you, you are merely doing your job and I would expect nothing less. As for Kieran, he’s an adult, if he wants to ******** and have fun with you until this all blows over and is finished, that’s his business.” Abel spoke shifting to stand, as he he looked down at Miguel. He moved closer toward him, as he leaned over and touched the arm rests of Miguel’s chair.
Abel stood before Miguel, ”Besides if I hated all this, you wouldn’t be here...You’d be dead like all the rest, and Kieran wouldn’t have been able to save you when I strung you up in my basement…” He stood glaring slightly at Miguel. Abel would have been more than pleased to kill Miguel but he hadn’t. ”Now, believe me, or don’t… but you can ask Kieran when he gets back home in a couple days.” He spoke having gotten a text from Kieran, while he was away. Abel knew he would be coming home, after all he didn’t think Kieran had been keeping in contact with his boytoy here.

He didn't understand where all this was coming from all of sudden. In all his time together with Kieran it had never been his intention to harm him. And even before then he had no such intentions. Kieran knew this much, so why couldn't Abel figure it out. Somehow it seemed as though he had gotten this notion into his head that he was only dating Kieran to get at him. Which wasn't the case at all. What Jakob had with Kieran had absolutely nothing to do with his job. He wished the man would understand that.
As he was questioned again his brain tried to think of other reasons the man might tell him such an obvious lie. Deep down, he knew it wasn't a lie. Sick as it was for once Abel was telling him the truth. Jakob called his bluff but didn't believe it himself. He looked away from the man to avoid his watchful gaze. It was unsettling how easy the man could see right through. Jakob heard him speak again, hardly believing that he wasn't taking any of this personal.
The sound of movement caught his attention. Jakob looked up to see the man coming closer to him. He hated to admit it, but he felt a fear similar to that which he felt in the basement. Jakob tried to move away from Abel. He was far too close for his comfort. But given his position there was nowhere left to go. Not unless he planned on causing Abel physical harm. Watching Abel speak he could see his own reflection in his dark eyes. His jaw tensed as he glared back at Abel. He wanted to argue, tell him how wrong he was. But once again he knew that Abel was telling him the truth.
He said nothing in response. After all, how does one really respond to such a thing. He was aware that he owed his life to Kieran. It was thanks to that, that he was extending that gratitude towards Abel. Until Kieran grew tired of the man, Abel got to live.
As the man spoke again, his face softened a bit before fading into a neutral expression. So he was answering his phone. He just wasn't talking to him. "No, no, I believe you." he said softly. "You're his best friend and all. So of course he'd tell you...Uh, anyway, are we done here?" Clearing his throat, Jakob looked back up at the man. If there was nothing more, he was going home. Even if they weren't done, he still wanted to leave. He tired of talking to Abel.

In the time he had spent talking with Abel was more than he had spoken with anyone in weeks. He felt there was nothing else left to say and was ready to get the hell away from him. Still, Abel had proved himself somewhat useful. He had learned something new about his boyfriends hidden past. As well as when he should be expecting him home. He wouldn't thank him though. Didn't want to give Abel the satisfaction. Instead he questioned him, making his wanting to go known. Still invading his space, the man spoke in a suggestive tone. Just as Abel intended, he felt a bit of anger. How dare he think so little of him, that he would actually cheat on Kieran. Well, two could play that game. Leaning forward, he sat just a breath away from the man's face. "Hmm, tempting. If you weren't such a freak." he said in a seductive tone. Smirking, he sat back once more. "I hate to disappoint you, but I don't cheat."

Even if he was tempted, he wouldn't sleep with Abel. The last thing he wanted to do was betray Kieran's trust. Not only that, it was obvious he was only doing this to get a rise out of him. Jakob could play his game, but it would be on his terms. He dared to get in his face and speak as though he wanted nothing more than to be thrown on to the table behind them. His eyes narrowed as Abel laughed and thanked him. As he sat back and rejected him, Abel pulled away. "Yeah, yeah. See ya." he replied. Jakob ignored Abel as he waved. He sat there a few minutes waiting for him to leave.
After a few minutes passed, Jakob rose from his seat. He didn't bother leaving anything for his drink as he figured Abel had some kind of open tab. He walked over to the area he saw the man leave and headed back down to the main area. Jakob didn't bother looking for the man, he figured he was long gone by now. Weaving through the crowd, Jakob soon reached the main exit and went outside. Walking a little ways from the club, he pulled out his phone, and pulled up his boyfriends' number. The thought to tell him everything that had just happened was tempting. But he didn't want to worry him. Instead he sighed and stuffed the phone away without saying anything. He looked back at the club tempted to go back in there and take Abel up on his offer. Before he could give in, Jakob started to walk in the direction of home.
