Maybe I'm just dense, but who decided that "wii" was a good name for a game system? Is there some sort of relevence or meaning there that I'm missing?

It's because it sounds like "We", it was designed as a console the whole family could play on, instead of the sweaty gamer sitting in the basement

No... it can be played with up to four Wii Remotes.

The controllers are wireless, up to 16 (I think) can be synched to it at once

Although, so far only 4 players are supported.
