Once more Aveth snorted, this time in disdain, but he didn't reply. Instead, he focused more on the task at hand. Taking aim on a big clump of Thread. Suddenly an updraft caught his wings. If it hadn't been for his size and experience, it might have thrown him off course; as it was, it only required a swift adjustment of his flying to adjust and stay on course, flaming the Thread with ease.

Heaing Gareth's call out for Firestone, C'ryn and Aresoth were quick to answer. The bronze pair moved from the Weyrling Wing and towards the lower altitude, On the way there, however, the wind caught Aresoth in just the right way that they were blown into a tangle of Thread. He hadn't been prepared for the change in the wind. C'ryn took the brunt of it, feeling the Thread hit his back and Aresoth's flank, before the pair jumped between.
His hands were shaking from the pain between him and his dragon as they kept on their path. He threw the stone to his father, seeing the older man catch it, though there was worry in his eyes. C'ryn just gave a salute and went back down to his wing.

After their initial miss, the blue and his rider quickly fell into position. Menankith had been right -- the winds were something else out this way -- and C'lusi could feel his blue fighting against them. Thankfully, his blue was strong, and prepared. This is nothing, Mine. I'm not going to be worn out so easily, you know that. I can last all night. The blue laughed, putting just a touch of innuendo in his words.

Once back among their wingmates the pain from the Thread had subsided for the moment at least. There was a dull burning ache, but both rider and dragon were able to put it from their minds. Once more Aresoth saw a tangle of Thread coming towards them and the pair easily betweened to avoid it. This was getting easy.

Their stint in high altitude was over. Ly'bur breathed deeper as the order came down to lower into mid alt flight. Hinburath stretched out his wings for a rest as they glided down. This fall was half over. They had gotten a few scores, but in return dealt a harsh blow to the falling Thread. It just remained to finish strong. The exhausted blues and greens were now being switched out for their fresh brethren.
Down into their new altitude, the brown resumes his focus on his mission. He was flaming well. In front of him that was. So well in fact he missed some Thread as it got blown up under him. He yelped as the Thread cause his already scored tail on the underside this time. A quick hop between stopped it in its tracks though. Are you ok? His rider inquired. Yes, its only minor.

Orodreth had gone after a clump of Thread, his maw opened wide as he belched flame at it. He was proud of himself until the wind blew and blew that same dead Thread and ash right back at him. Tyra gritted her teeth as she felt the heat of the embers, Orodreth letting out a hiss of pain as the flickering embers hitting his hide.

I know you mean well, love, but could you maybe ease up on showing off? Nadry suggested, rubbing at her shoulder in response to the throbbing pain in her dragon's wing muscles. You really ought to take it easy on that wing.
I'm fine! Menankith insisted with a surge of newfound energy courtesy of his sister's response. Besides, Cynosuth's is going to look at me later anyway.
That...won't exactly fix it, she sighed.
With the mental equivalent of a shrug for his rider, the brown replied to his sister with another swell of affection, this one brighter than the last. How could I be anything else? You are the kindest of us all, and deserve nothing less.

Once more another clump of Thread was coming at them and they betweened again. Once more Ddraigth's fatigue showed throw as they reappeared and he didn't have the energy to even go back between, instead flying right back into another sheet of Thread.
There's one, Mac! C'lusi pointed out. The dragon immediately responded, diving down to catch the clump of Thread that seemed to be floating in the air. Unfortunately, the wind pushed it right at them -- and while Macuith's flame missed, he was able to swiftly dodge out of the way and avoid a direct hit. Easy as bubblypie, don't you think? I'm too slippery for such tricks!

Choosing to remain aloft with the low altitude group this time, V'mel drove Aviroth to chase down clump after clump until at last one was blown back into Aviroth's chest, making the brown hiss and leap between to shed the strands.

The dragon pair found themselves in a lull, their airspace free of Thread. Though Macuith watched a few tangles drift by, they were too far, and not meant for him to flame. His wingmates would pick them up, or the Queen's Wing below.
"Easy, buddy... We've still a long way to fight." C'lusi assured, reaching down to thump his dragon's bright blue hide.
You know I get what I want, Mine. And I wish to fight.
"I don't think you're in any danger of missing out." Too soon, C'lusi knew, they would be chasing down Thread once more.
