For all that his rider worried that his concern for and conversation with his tiny sister might prove to be a dangerous distraction, Menankith was thus far proving her wrong, and aside from aggravating his sore wing, he was doing quite well for himself! And when they flashed between to avoid a gusting strand of Thread only to emerge too close to another, he spotted it just in time and wheeled away with impressive agility in spite of his aching muscles.

I wasn't showing off! he asserted, and meant it. He'd had no motivation for that beyond self-preservation! That he was yet cognizant of, anyway.

They were finding it much easier at this level despite Hinburath's initial scoring. He found it amusing the brown was enjoying his work of flaming Thread. Did the other dragons find it as enjoyable? Probably not when they were getting hurt from it. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something wrong.
Hinburath caught the thought from his rider and turned to look as well. He roared a warning out to his wingmate, Look out! It came just in time for the pair to avoid damage.
Round 2: Day 2 Rolls

Th... thank you, Menankith, you are too kind! Cynosuth said, greatly touched by her brother's gallant words. He was just... really so sweet. So nice. They all were, really. She didn't know how to properly express her gratitude, so she just sent him another well of thankfulness.
So far, Threadfall seemed dangerous, but not insurmountable. She hoped that it would stay that way. It will, love, Dr'stan told his Green, patting her reassuringly.

Flying through the air, Aresoth was once more dodging and weaving through Thread, chasing down a particular piece. Once more the dragon had to quickly change directions and C'ryn was thrown against his straps. There was a curse under his breath as he scrambled to re-tighten them on the fly. He kept his cool better this time then he had before. It happened and the last time he had made these, well he probably was a bit lighter, didn't have as much muscle on him as he did now. Not to mention Aresoth and he had been thrown back into Thread just a moment ago.

The blue was only too happy to keep fighting Thread. This was where they were meant to be, close to their clutch sibs, and taking down the great Enemy. Though they were impressive on Wing, they were only too happy to look out for their friends.

Coming out of the cloud and betweening to dull the heat, Orodreth reappeared only to find himself almost face first into a sheet of Thread. In an instant, before Tyra could feel any alarm, the two disappeared once more and reappeared with Orodreth belching flame at the large sheet. Half of it charred to embers as the blue pair was once more gone.
Only to reappear a safe distance away, Orodreth letting out a triumphant call.

Erupting from Between lower than he'd meant to, Zetigeth's landing in the Bowl was not nearly as graceful as it could have been and involved a very heavy THUMP that resounded through his whole body. D'ast was brushing off ashes and clumps of cracked Thread, wincing in pain through the entire process and even more so with the landing. Things were not at all looking up and even though he was down with the Healers he couldn't seek out his wife or any of his children, for his son had fallen and his daughter had taken threadscoring badly enough to be forced down right before the change of greens and blues, only returning for a few minutes thanks to what he could only decide was some stubbornness she'd inherited from him.. He still wasn't sure about Demanthra either.
This fall was a nightmare.
Ripping himself from his straps, the rider eased down off of his dragon, not wanting to aggravate the wounds that the small brown had sustained in the process of trying to protect him, to protect his wingmates and indeed all of Pern. Zetigeth never once winced, never made a noise, and as far as the rider could tell the hard-headed dragon was fully withholding his own pain and suffering in order for his rider to have his pain looked at first. For surely the raw wounds and streaming blood coming from the area was not at all a good sign.
Grabbed by a healer, D'ast gestured to his dragon and shook the man's hand from his shoulders. "Look after him first, he's taken much greater damage than I have for much longer. There aren't any burrows in my legs and there's more ichor coming from that dragon than there needs to be." His words were colored with pain that he couldn't hide but he was stubborn and his dragon would be healed long before he sought any himself. It was possible that the healer saw this in his face, heard it in his tone, either way he went to take a look at the dragon first.
It was surprisingly quick work in fact, once the straps had been removed and the redwort rubbed all over him, Zetigeth had only needed a few stitches and no thread had burrowed into him. D'ast's legs were a different story, but numbweed managed to take the worst of it away and he felt entirely new, albeit for the time being.
The wing needs us, there is still Thread to fight. Zetigeth offered as he stepped up to his rider, his face determined and his wings outstretched and ready. To him, there would be time to mourn later, for all the losses and pain, for all the suffering that their family would face to come.
Leaping into the straps and buckling down, the older rider gave a whoop of renewed fight and they surged from the ground into the sky above the Bowl, disappearing to the battle once again.

Just as he prepared to belch flame at a clump of Thread, the wind gusted it out of reach! Irritated, Dobrokhoth fought against the wind to reach it, and failing in that, they opted to go between...and utterly snarfed it up, reappearing right in the clump! The pale brown bellowed as it set to chewing at his legs and flashed away again to be rid of it.

Ddraigth still felt tired but the bronze did his best to belch flame. Up here it was easy enough to do so even with how he was feeling, there was Thread everywhere you looked. It didn't take much effort to destroy it.
S'del took a moment to feed Kindeth a few more chunks of fire-stone. Unfortunately, the dragon suddenly gave a snort, and practically jolted on wing. Pain -- but this time from his mouth!
"Oh Kindeth..." The dragon spit some ichor, confirming what he'd done. Though his face was still numb, his tongue was not!
It's just a little piece of tongue. I will survive.

The small bronze wouldn't be able to get over there quick enough, he pushed himself but upon realizing that he let out another warning cry to them as he opened his maw and belched a longer then normal flame, destroying one of the clumps. Al'ndru had to admit, he was certainly surprised by this.

When they reemerged, it was to an unexpected but welcome moment of calm, providing them a much-needed chance to assess their state following their blunder. Fortunately, their trip between had rid them of the silver strands before significant damage could be done. It stung, but they'd be jsut fine!
