"The sun is going." Aoife said stating the obvious. "I'll have to go back under soon."

Joey nodded. "Yea. I will have to go back on the shore, soon." He glanced at her. "Will you be back tomorrow?"

Aoife nodded. "I would like to."
(( Have I even made her tell you her name? I forget. ))

((yea, you have))
Joey smiled. "Ok, I would also like that." He looked back to the sky. It was almost dark. He still had a few minutes, though. "If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be?"

Aoife looked at him oddly. "I think..." She pondered a moment. Then looked up. "I think I would swim the air and watch people on land." She hugged herself and let her mind wander. "But I don't know... it is a hard question." She looked at him. "How about you?"

Joey thought. "The sky sounds nice but...it is a large space, larger than the ocean, and it is quite lonely up there. Me..." He sighed, truly unsure. "For now, right here, I guess."

Sayuri smiled understanding. She'd been lonely, she understood the need to interact and lacking the chance to do just that. "Here, right now, is nice too."

Joey looked at her and smiled, glad she understood. "It is...hard to be alone for too long." He looked back to the sky. "It changes people, hardens them so they pull themselves into a shell in which nothing social comes through or from it." He didn't realize that he was talking about himself.

Silent for a moment, Aoife watched Joey's face. "It's not that nothing can reach them... It just becomes a little harder to reach. But usually once there it will be embraced." She wasn't sure where that had come from, knowing her vocabulary wasn't that strong it was surprise that went across her face.

Joey turned his head and locked eyes with Aoife. Hidden in them was his innocence, unable to to thrive and turn to courage in the future. "Yes...you are right..." He sighed and closed his eyes.

Aoife watched him silently but intensely. "You are much like the water." She said turning away again. Tracing the waves.

"Deep and dark, full of life, but not being able to see it for what it is. A living mystery." Aoife let that roll off her tongue. She must be getting used to speaking. She looked at him. "Right now you are calm," She let her eyes wander the soft waves. "but you have a temper, I'm sure, that isn't to be disreguarded." The words seemed to come to her easily now.

Joey listened to her words. It was true, he did have a raging temper, but that rarely came out, at most. He was used to just brushing things off but...if anyone hit the wrong chord in him, then his rage would be unmatched by anyone. "You are correct in more ways than you can imagine."
