How are you holding up? The man was leaning down close to Gareth as he asked this question, wanting to check in on him. They had been through a lot. Even though Dobrokhoth's tongue hurt after being repeatedly bitten down on, and he continued to complain about it to M'yk, they kept right on doing their job regardless. There was no shortage of Thread to flame up here!

High altitude, at last! Hyglath roared his enthusiasm when the shift change came, and entered the thick of the fight with gusto, and scorched silver from the air as His laughed, sharing in the bronze's delight.

Oh, but the wind up here was worse as well! A tangle of strands was swept up in a gust and blew right into Hyglath's chest, sending them flashing away to see it frozen off and rendered harmless.

Nothing...nothing. No matter which way Lestenna looked, there was no thread. It was...good. Meant the wings were working well and doing their job. But...it was dull.
She wondered how V'kenti was doing. Better to not distract him with Uridith actually reaching out but...hmm.

They popped back out into open air with a roar that was equal parts pain and enthusiasm - perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm, as when Hyglath asked for my firestone, he proceeded to bite his own tongue. Ouch! That was...not glorious.

Flapping his wings, the bronze dragon caught a small gust and had it thrust his bulk towards a clump of Thread. Unfortunately, though he burned it to bits, he found his face and neck splattered with ash. Though it didn't sting on his face, thanks to the numbweed, he did hiss at the pain on his neck and chest. That burn did ease the pain in his tongue -- he had pain elsewhere to think about.

As if flying through the ash cloud wasn't enough.... Look out, Kindeth! S'del warned as the wind blew. The change of direction meant another clump that had been outside of their airspace was blown right into them. It happened on the bronze's left, where his damaged eye didn't quite see things clearly. Though the dragon tried to swerve, he caught it right on the shoulder.
S'del hissed in pain, before sending Kindeth coordinates. A quick hop Between, and the man held his leg.

The pair continued to fight through the Thread. Occasionally, Hinburath would twist his head back to receive more firestone from his rider. He chewed carefully then belched forth the flames. He aimed toward some thread and unleashed his fury upon it. Unfortunately some separated from the main group just before it caught. The rest burned to ash, while the live pieces were pushed toward them on an errant gust of wind.
Ly'bur stared in horror as the Thread came closer and closer. Hinburath instinctively took them between to safety. They appeared higher up, avoiding the Threads and letting them drift down toward a lower altitude. Don't worry. You can't get them all. Ly'bur was grateful to his brown's good instincts to get them out of danger. He patted Hinburath quickly.
Round 2: Day 2 Rolls
1. 4- You're so focused on flaming Thread that you miss a clump of thread blows up on the wind -- beneath you! If a greeen, or blue, you manage to jump Between ahead of it. Thankfully, your smaller size means you're able to avoid getting harmed! [+1 Between Accuracy] If a brown or bronze, your heavier size does cause your tail to get caught! [+1 Between Accuracy & Minor Damage - 2 HP!] 2. 7- You notice that one of your wingmates is in trouble. Look out! Your dragon screams warning, and you watch as they successfully dodge catastrophe. Quote a Wingmate who took damage to Nullify Damage for that post! The quoted wingmate can remove that damage, unless they have already returned to the Weyr for healing or are already playing out a KO'd scenario. 3. 2- As you're flaming down some Thread, a gust of wind suddenly pushes the remaining cloud back at you and your dragon. You've no choice but to blink Between to avoid it, and appear higher up, missing the clump. The rest of the thread falls down towards the lower altitude. [+1 Between Accuracy] 4. 5.

Ah, but his apologies were short lived. For as the dragon tried to wheel away from taking another hit, the dragon found himself being blown right into another. This time, he did roar his pain, and popped the stitches that Dr'stan had so carefully stitched.
A flash Between... and once they were out, S'del grit his teeth in shared pain. You all right, Kindeth?
. . . it hurts again. And you are hurt, too. The bronze creeled. Still, the dragon's eyes whirled red. He would not let Thread be so cruel! They would be better next time. He was a large bronze. He could take the hit... but his rider was just a bit more squishy.
