Nope the number has to be equal to or greater than the floor you are on. So floor 5 would have to roll a 5 or higher. Floor 6 would have to roll a 6 or higher. Up to floor 10 where you fight a boss. So your lvl is currently 7. Since you rolled a 5 and a 9.
Edit: And actually since you were on floor 7 (7.There's a torch on the wall and you can almost see a secret hidey hole in the wall, but it's too dark. Roll a 3 to use the torch and get the item!) and you rolled a 3 last time you are entitled to the item too. hehe.
